Bailee was a mess her hands were starting to sweat; her heart rate was increasing rapidly. The couple was driving to the ice cream shop near the beach in silence. It wasn't uncomfortable but she felt out of place. This was a whole new experience for her, she hated not knowing what she was supposed to do. She had calmed down before they left Derek's apartment but as soon as she got into the car her anxiety rose back up. For a moment she was considering calling Aaron but dropped that full idea when she remembered he would have used his Sirens. She hadn't even started the date yet and seeing Aaron turn up would have been humiliating. Taking a few sharp deep breaths, she looks out of the window seeing the ice cream shop on her left and the Beach on her right.

Donovan kept taking unnoticed glances toward her, He could tell she was nervous and petrified but what she didn't know was that he was also nervous and scared. He had never been on a date before either which Donovan didn't tell bailee, being too embarrassed to confess to such a gorgeous girl he thought. Sighing he takes one hand off the steering wheel and grabs one of her, moving their hands to the center console.

"Bailee, you don't have to be so nervous." He says rubbing the back of her hand.

"That's easy for you to say" Bailee mumbles.

When they stopped at a red light, Donovan turned his head to look at her "Can you look at me please."

Slowly Bailee turns her head to see Donovan already looking at her. He gives her a little chuckle "I should have probably told you this seeing how scared you look, maybe telling you might ease those nerves of yours"?

Bailee furrows her eyebrows "What?"

"I'm nervous too Bailee" Donovan admits.

Bailee was lost for words "But.....How....."

"This is my first date as well" Donovan adds driving again as the light turns to green.

"WHAT?" Bailee shouts.

"Sorry" She adds after feeling guilty that she judged him.

"I...guess it was my pride I don't know...I just didn't want you to know.... this is a first for me too. Seeing how scared and panicked you looked I felt bad. You already know I was in foster care, they aren't five-star ratings so most of my life I worked, being in a relationship wasn't my priority being able to support myself was my main focus so I could leave as soon as I turned eighteen."

"I would say I'm sorry, but I know it doesn't change anything you went through," Bailee says.

"Don't worry about it. I didn't mean for our date to become so sad, but I just want you to understand that this is new for both of us" Donovan says smiling.

"We'll figure this out together" He adds.

Bailee looks at their joined hands then looks back up at Donovan "Together". She says with a hopeful expression on her face.

When the couple had gotten their ice creams, Bailee was stunned once again by Donovan when he asked for two blueberry Ice creams. Sure, over messages she did mention her love for blueberries but when he told her that his favourite flavour was blueberry too. She couldn't believe how similar they both were. They had arrived at the beach and sat down on some rocks watching the waves. Bailee relaxed, for once she felt at peace, some much as happened and at this moment she didn't have anything to worry about. Her eyes focused on the water as it came closer each time to the shore, feeling eyes on her she looks to her left to see Donovan looking at her.

Dropping her head down she blushes "Sorry, I wasn't ignoring you. It's that listening to the water and the waves...."

"It's calming." Donovan finishes for her. Bailee smiles at him "It's like all my problems just disappear."

"Like your mind is finally free from the continuous thoughts" Donovan agrees.

"It's strange," Bailee states eating her ice cream.

"It is. I hated the thought of the ocean and the waves crashing, I don't know why it just seemed....."

"...That you were in the middle of the crashing waves" Bailee finishes, she didn't mean to blurt that out but to her it made sense.

"Yeah," Donovan whispers. He had never said it out loud before and hearing Bailee say the words made it feel real.

"Physically I wasn't there but the pressure on my chest, the anxiety, the panic attacks. When you've finally recovered from the last wave that hit, you're pulled down by the next one..." Donovan says looking at the ocean.

"No time to breathe, making you want to let go and sink" Bailee concludes.

"But here. The waves are still crashing and yet...."

"It's peaceful," Bailee and Donovan say at the same time.

After a while when the couple had finished their ice creams Donovan turns his head to look at Bailee who was shivering. Opening his arms for her he says "Come here" Confused she moves closer into his side where she wrapps her arms around him as he pulls his arm around her shoulder rubbing her arm trying to warm her up.

"Is this, okay?" He asks wanting to make sure he hasn't overstepped. Bailee nods her head "This is great" She mumbles her head on his chest as she watches the water almost touching them.

"We can go If you're getting cold. I should have brought a blanket. I'm sorry" Donovan says.

"I'm okay here. I promise"

Another hour when by meaning it was getting close to eleven. The couple didn't talk as much in the hour, both agreeing they liked listening to  the waves. When they had gotten back to the car Bailee couldn't keep a smile off her face which Donovan kept teasing her about making her giggle, a rare thing she ever did.

Parking the car outside of Derek's apartment, the pair looked at each other. Donovan clears his throat "I had a really good night Bailee"

"I did too. I'm sorry you said you wanted us to get to know each other better on the date and yet we didn't do a lot of talking." Bailee says feeling guilty for wanting the silence at the beach.

Donovan shakes his head "Don't apologize Darling. I understand where you were coming from. Even though we didn't talk a lot. I thought tonight was amazing."

Donovan leans forwards toward her face "If anything tonight made me realize how much I like you"

Bailee blushes at how close they were to one another "Can I ask you a personal question."

"Sure" Donovan says holding her hands in his reminding her that she can be honest with him.

"How do you know you like me? Does that even make sense? Like how can you tell? What if it's just a friendship?" Bailee blurts out. She has never liked someone before so how she will know the difference if she likes him too?

Donovan cheeks turn light pink "Uh you make me feel really nervous, your awkward replies always make my day. When you laugh, giggle, or that beautiful smile it makes my heart jump knowing that you're happy."

"You give me butterflies" Bailee mutters looking at their hands.

"Good butterflies?" Donovan grins raising an eyebrow.

"Good butterflies" Bailee confirms.

"That's your new nickname," Donovan says, "My butterfly." The couple look at each other with soft smiles.

"AWWHHHH KISS HER!" Garcia's voice startles Bailee and Donovan.

"KISSING?" Aaron's questions.

"NO KISSING!" Derek shouts out.

They both look out Bailee's car window to see the whole team staring out of Derek's living room window.

Bailee pulls her hand from Donovan's and covers her face "I'm so sorry".

Donovan laughs "Don't worry about it. I'll call you once I'm home ok?" Donovan kisses her forehead before looking back at her bright red face "That alright?" He questions still wanting her to know she was in control.

"uhuh" Bailee manages to say, without thinking she kisses his cheek before racing out of the car shouting.

"Bye"
