*Zane*

"DADDY!" I turn when I heard my supergirl yell. She barreled into me as I picked her up and tossed her in the air, "I missed you." she giggled.

"I missed you to, supergirl." I say as I hug her tight, "Were you good for Uncle Zach?"

"Yes, daddy. I was good for him and Uncle Brandon." she says while clinging to my neck. I chuckle as Zach and Brandon run up.

"Dani...you...need...to...slow...down...some." Zach pants out and Brandon nods. "This...is...the second time today you've run off."

"Sorry, I missed daddy and it was a new library. Which means more books." Dani exclaims. I chuckle Dani and her books.

"Sir, we're done. We need to head back." one of the men helping me unload my new cattle and horses. I hand them the money and watch them drive off.

I turn and watch Zach and Dani argue about something. "Hey, lets go eat I'm starving." I yell as I head to my truck. After supper I wash the dishes and sit in my office and finish some of the paperwork for this week.

Around eight-thirty I give Dani her bath and sent her to her room to get ready for bed while I shower and pull on some sweats. Tucking her in bed she asks, "Daddy can you read me a story?"

"Sure, what do you want to hear?" I ask before heading towards her bookshelf.

"Can you make one up?" Dani asks sleepily. I chuckle before sitting on the edge of her bed.

"Once upon a time, in a land of fairytales. There lived a princess and a cowboy. Princess Daniella ruled all of the people while the cowboy took care of all the animals. One day the cowboy met another princess. The other princess helped take care of the people and animals. The cowboy and the other princess slowly fell in love and had a big wedding. Princess Daniella, The Cowboy and the other princess rode off into the sunset. And lived happy ever after." I looked down and smiled, "Night sweetheart."

♒A Few Days Later♒

"So supergirl, what do you want to do today?" I ask Dani since she turns 6yrs old today.

"Can we go to the bookstore. I want some new books, I've read all the ones I have a million times already." she says while coloring.

"Ok, bookstore it is. Then we need to go get dressed and we'll eat at the diner." I barely finish talking and she's running down the hall to her bedroom. I shake my head and head to my room to get dressed. Thirty minutes later we're headed to town.

"Zane, Daniella what a nice surprise." Sam yells as we walk into the diner.

"Hi, Sam." Dani says while skipping to a booth. I shake my head and follow.

"What can I get you kids?" Sam asks.

"WAFFLES!" Dani yells, "Please." Sam chuckles

"The special." I say while giving Dani a pen so she could draw on a napkin. I look up when I heard Sam talking to a young woman at the counter. 'Damn she's beautiful' I think when she turned towards the door.

"Hear you go." One of the waitresses says setting our plates down.

"Thank you." Dania says before digging into her food.

"So, what kind of book do you want?" I ask as I finish off my coffee. I set the money on the table and nod to Sam.

"I don't know yet." she says while walking next door. Getting inside she runs towards the kids books and I just look around. Suddenly I run into something or someone.

"Mierda(shit)," someone exclaims as we hit the ground.

"Sorry, I wasn't watching where I was going." I say as I pull us up and I hear a little voice behind her.

"Mama, bad word. Doller." I look and see a cute kid while dark brown hair and bright blue eyes.

"I know Kyler." she turns to the little boy while pulling a dollar out of her pocket. "I was startled by this man bumping into me that it slipped out. Go put this in the jar for me."

"Ms. Kylie," I heard Dani exclaim before she ran up and gave the woman a hug.

"Hi Dani, what are you doing today?" she says while hugging her back.

"I turned six today. So get to get new books." Dani said excitedly.

"Really, well I got a box of books delivered this morning so why don't you go through them and see if you want one." she says while pointing to a box down the aisle and Dani runs down there.

"Mama, I hungry." the little boy says and the woman smiles before bending down to his level.

"Ok, well I need to do something so why don't you go down there and help Dani then I'll fix you a snack." the kid nods and wobbles towards Dani.

"Is there something I can help you with?" the woman asked while going from one foot to the other.

"No ma'am. I'm just here for my daughter. I'm Zane, by the way." I say as I tip my hat.

"Kylie, and we should go help Dani carry her books." she says and I look towards my daughter. What I see as me chuckling as I grab most of her stack.

After paying I turn and see Dani helping the little boy color. "Dani, we need to go if we want to get to Uncle Brandon's before he eats the cake."

"Ok, bye Kyler." Dani says, "Thank you for the books, Ms. Kylie."

"Your very welcome. I hope you enjoy them and happy birthday." Kylie says while hugging Dani.

"I will." Dani says before going out the door.

"It was nice to meet you. See you around." I say before I head to my truck.

Four hours later, Dani was off riding with Zach on his new trail horse. While me and Brandon were cleaning up the back yard.

"So, what's on your mind, Zane." Brandon asked while handing me a drink.

"What?" I ask confused and look at him.

"You've been zoning out." He shrugs, "Just wondering what's on your mind."

"The bookstore owner, Kylie. How long has she been in town?" I say as I sit down on the deck, "I don't remember her being here at the beginning of the summer."

"Oh, she a cute one. She's been here for about a year and a half now." Brandon chuckles, "First time I met her, I startled her and she cussed me out in Spanish and stormed off. She bought the shop about eight months ago. Before that she worked for Sam doing paperwork."

"Well I bumped into her and she yelled out then this little boy run up yelling 'Mama bad word'. She was really good with kids from what I saw today." I say and look towards the fields and see Zach and Dani riding up.

"Yeah, that's her little boy, Kyler. When she came here all she had were three bags and the kid." Brandon said standing up, "I think she was trying to run from something, because she keeps to herself the only person she really talks to is Sam. I guess its because he was the first person to welcome her to town and he gave her a place to stay."

"Daddy, can we go I want to read my new books." Dani says before I could reply.

"Yes sweetheart. You have to thank Uncle Brandon from letting us hang out here all day." I say as I grab her stuff.

"Thank you Uncle Brandon for letting me hang out here today." Dani says hugging Brandon.

"Your welcome sweetie. You can come hang out here anytime." He put her down and ran to the truck yelling over her shoulder, "Bye Uncle Zach."

"Thanks man. Talk to you later." I tell Brandon and he nods.

After we got home Dani grabbed the bag with books and ran to her room so I won't hear from her for a few hours. Crazy girl lives for her books.
