"Hello," I call out as I walk into the house." Anyone home?"

"Mama," I heard him yell from the backyard so headed back there.

"Hey, little dove." says walking up behind me and kissing my cheek. "How was work?"

"Tiring," I sigh, "You?"

"Same," he says and leans down to kiss me on the lips.

"Hello princesa," a another voice says and I turn towards it only to freeze when I realized who it was.

"Dante, what are you doing here?" I ask scared.

"I came for what is mine." Dante says and points a gun at the man behind me and pulls the trigger.

"NOOO!"

I sit up quickly and look around. 'He's not here. Your safe.' I think as I wait for my breathing to slow down. Getting up I go search for the kitchen. Looking out the window I watch as the sun peeks over the horizon.

"Ms. Kylie?" I turn when I heard the little voice.

"Hi Dani." I smile down at her as she rubs her eyes.

"What are you doing here?" Dani says while sitting down at one of the stools at the breakfast bar.

"I spent the night here." I say smiling.

"Oh, ok." she say, "I'm hungry."

"You are, well so am I." I say, "What do you want?"

"Mickey Mouse pancakes, please." Dani says, "Can I help?"

"Yes," I laugh and start looking for all the ingredients. Twenty minutes later, we were sitting outside with the food singing along with the radio.

"What is going on here?" a deep voice asked. I looked at the door and suddenly found my socks very interesting.

"Morning Daddy," Dani said skipping up to Zane, "Ms. Kylie made pancakes, do you want some?"

"Sure princess." Zane said and sat down with Dani.

"Ms. Kylie are you going to sit down?" Dani asked.

"No, I'm, uh going to clean up the mess in the kitchen." I mumble and just barley kept from running inside.

'What the hell is wrong with me?' I groan internally, 'God can I be anymore stupid.' Just as I finish wiping down the counters when Zane and Dani came inside.

"I'm going to my room to read." Dani says and runs down the hall.

"Thank you," Zane says walking up beside me and sets his plate in the sink. "So..."

"I'm going to get dressed." I say quickly before turning and very quickly walking down the hall. Once in the bedroom I let out a sigh in relief before walking into the en-suit bathroom to shower. Thirty minutes later, I head to see if I could find Zane. Not finding him in the house I head to the barn to see if he was there.

I look around when I heard someone say, "Mornin' miss." Noticing a man coming out of what I think was the tack room.

"Hi," I whisper nervously having never seen the man before.

"Can I help you with something?" the man asks.

"I was looking for Z... Mr. Savage." I whisper.

"He and miss Dani went for they're morning ride. Should be getting back a few minutes." the man says, "You don't have to be scared. I won't hurt you." and smiles at me.

"Yeah, your a big softy. Aren't ya Andy?" a new voice says and I behind me to find two huge men standing in the doorway of the barn.

"Shut it, Rick." the man, Andy groaned.

I run out the door. "Jesus" I mumble I turn towards the pasture when I hear pounding on the ground and saw Zane and Dani riding up.

"Hey boss," one of the boys yells from behind me and I jump with a shriek and start backing up only to end up falling. "Are you ok?" the guy say stepping towards me and I keep backing away from him.

"Kylie, are you alright?" Zane ask as he and Dani get off the horse. "Andy, Rick, Josh back up."

"I'm fine," I say softly, "I need to get back to the store."

"Are you sure about that after what happened." Zane says slowly.

"Of course I am," I glare at him, "Casey and Kyler are coming home today and I want to make sure all of the books are ok."

"Ok," Zane say cautiously, "I have to grab my keys." and he runs towards the house.

"Ms. Kylie can I come?" Dani asks pulling on my pant leg and I nod and smile down at her. "Bye guys." she says to the guys and skips towards the truck that Zane was standing beside holding my bag.

"Thank you for grabbing that." I say climbing into the passenger seat after Dani climb in.

"Wasn't a problem," Zane said smiling at me.

"What happened to Deputy Carson last night?" I ask just remembering him.

"He went home just before me and Brandon heard you scream." he said and I got the impression that he was hiding something from me.
