At 6 in the morning I was woken by my very awake and very hyper two year jumping on my bed. I groaned and pulled my pillow over my head, "Kane, go back to bed. It's not morning yet." Kane stopped jumping and I thought he was going to go back to his room, but instead I felt the bed move next me. The pillow was pulled from my head and I was met with my son's smiling face.

"Morning, momma."

I sighed, "It's not morning. Go back to bed." Kane giggled and laid down next to me. I smiled and pulled him closer. I shut my eyes and as sleep drifted closer, I felt a tapping on my forehead. I swiped my hand over my face and the tapping stopped. I smiled and tried to fall back to sleep. The tapping started again, so I opened one eye. Kane was staring at me, tapping his finger on my face. I sighed, "Fine. You win." I rolled myself out of bed, sliding into my slippers and grabbing my robe. Kane ran around my legs as I slipped my robe on and started towards my bedroom door. Kane ran next to me, grabbing my hand and pulling me downstairs. Once we were in the kitchen, I picked Kane up and put him in his high chair. He struggled for a minute, but I eventually got him to sit down. I yawned, it was way too early, "What should we have for breakfast?"

Kane smiled and threw his tiny hands up, "Pamcakes!"

"We had those yesterday." I laughed and watched as his smile never faltered.

"Pamcakes, momma! Pamcakes."

I held my hands up in surrender, "Okay, okay. Pancakes it is." I got everything I needed and started to make the batter. I smiled over at Kane who was currently way too invested in sucking on his thumb to notice anything else. He was growing up so fast and I felt like Dustin was missing it. I sighed.

"Dada."

I looked up at Kane and gave him a sad smile, "Dada is working. He'll be home in a couple of days."

Kane giggled and pointed behind me, "Dada!" I shook my head and went back to making pancakes.

"Pancakes? Looks like I came on a good day." I spun around at the sound of his voice. Dustin stood at the back door, his bag hanging from his shoulder and a smile on his face, "Hey, baby." I covered my mouth with my hand, not quite believing that my husband was standing in front of me. He walked into the room, letting the bag drop to the floor, "Don't cry, Nicole." I wiped my cheeks, only just realizing that a few tears had slipped.

I laughed, "I thought you weren't coming home until Friday?"

He wrapped his arms around me, burying his face in my hair, "I got off early. I missed you two so much. Couldn't handle another day away from you." He pulled away slightly and kissed my forehead. Kane had started to bang his fists on his high chair, so Dustin rushed over to him. He scooped him up in his arms and hugged him, "Hey, buddy. Did you miss me?"

Kane grinned, "No!"

Dustin looked offended, "No?" Kane giggled.

I sidled up to them, "He's been big on no lately."

Dustin looked down at me with a grin and turned back to Kane, "Oh he has?" He started to tickle Kane, who squirmed and laughed. Dustin stopped and pulled me into his side, "I love you both."
