I slowly blink away the sleep from my eyes, the blurry images of my dorm room becoming clearer and clearer with every passing moment.

I stretch out and let out a sigh as I fully wake up. Sitting up, I check my clock, and see that it's ten past eleven.

Thank god it's Friday.

Looking to my side, I see Rob's bed completely empty. However the sound of the shower from the bathroom confirms my thoughts.

Standing up out of bed, I realise I have one lecture today and then I'm free.

As I begin to think about my weekend plans, a.k.a Netflix and Cheetos, my phone buzzes.

Picking it off the nightstand, I look at the message.

Dean:
Hey, party is at my place tonight. Hope you can make it xx

He then sends a separate text of the address, which is about a mile away from Rob and I's dorm room.

"Rob." I shout, hoping he can hear me from in the shower.

"Yeah." He calls back.

"We're going to a party tonight."

A hear a clunk and the sound of water splashing. The door of the bathroom suddenly flies open.

And a naked Rob walks out.

"Ew, Jesu-God-fuck! Put on some clothes on, man!" I exclaim, covering my eyes.

"It's all natural." He smiles as he walks over to his bed.

"Yeah well put some clothes on and I swear to go if you put that hula skirt on and call it natural I'm moving out!" I warn, my patience completely gone.

Remember when we used to be polite to each other. Good times.

"Relax, relax. Damn, I should warn Axel that you're feisty." He nods as he runs a towel through his wet hair.

He's currently in Nike joggers and a navy t-shirt which means I can actually look him in the eyes.

"He already knows." I say, remembering how I attacked him when he tricked me yesterday.

"Ooh, feisty in the bedroom too?"

"You know what? You're uninvited from this party." I huff.

A smile tries to appear on my face but I quickly swallow the sign of happiness and walk to the drawers that hold my clothes.

"Yeah, no. Axel's already invited me. So Cupcake I'm turning up with whoever." Rob warns, his eyebrows raised.

"I'm gonna invite Emma for back-up." I say, shuddering at the image of a whole night with Axel and Rob.

That sounded so dirty.

Brushing off my thoughts, for the goodness of my mental health, I grab some clothes and walk into the bathroom.

"You better be ready to party tonight, Cupcake!"

"I always am." I shout back.

"I need stuff to wear." Emma wails as she rummages through her closet.

"You have stuff, you're literally standing in front of a closet full of your clothes."

Emma turns ever so slowly in my direction. She walks towards me and starts flicking me on my head.

"For. The. Party. You. Idiot." She says, giving me a flick on the forehead between each time.

I bat her hands away and rub my forehead. "Ow, What was that for?"

"It's was for you being stupid." She sighs, going back to her closet.

"Well, I don't know what to wear either. Why is is such a big deal? There are college parties all the time."

"Yes but this one is held by Dean Downes." She says, her eyes widening to exaggerate the point.

Which I don't get.

Ah, just like maths class all over again.

"Yeah, he invited me. What's the big deal with him?" I ask.

When I met Dean in class, he was completely normal. He didn't show off or be mean, so I'm not sure what Emma's talking about.

"The big deal is that he's the son to a billionaire."

"Oh, that's a big deal." I say, my eyes now matching Emma's.

"No shit, sherlock." She laughs.

"Well I need something to wear then. Is it fancy?"

"Did he not tell you?"

"Tell me what?" I ask, I had only been sent the address. Dean hadn't said anything else.

"Today he announced that the theme is Zombie."

"In September?!"

"Dean's parties always have themes." Emma shrugs.

"Holy crap, I really need an outfit then."

"Time to shop till we drop, honey." Emma sings as she grabs her bag and walks out.

I let out a groan and follow her.

Time to shop.

••••

"I look like a prostitute." Emma groans as she turns around in the mirror.

"No you don't." I shush her, shaking my head.

"Yeah, she totally does." A deep voice says, goosebumps immediately appear on my skin.

Both Emma and I whip round from the mirror in the store and come to face Axel.

"Hello, ladies." He greets.

Axel's eyes look me up and down, making me feel miserably self-conscious.

Hello fifteen year-old doubts.

"Yes?" I ask, crossing my arms and popping my hip out to the side.

"You don't look very zombie-ish." He states, looking back at my chest.

I'm wearing a form fitting grey top that clings to my assets, some may say.

"Eyes up here, Einstein." I huff.

"They're always above your waist." He replies.

"That's not the point, dickhead." I roll my eyes.

"If I get to stare at you, there's always a point." Axel says softly, his face completely serious.

My body heat seems so go up a few degrees as I forget how to speak.

Instead I turn around and assess Emma's outfit again.

"Maybe it is a bit too, flashy?" I offer, my voice going higher than I had anticipated.

Damn hormones.

"Yeah, I agree." Axel nods. "Maybe try a jumpsuit?"

Emma grins and points at Axel. "Good idea, I'm going to go get change out of this hooker r us outfit."

As Emma turns round, all of us suddenly become aware of a shop worker who was standing at the entrance to the dressing rooms.

"I-yo-I mean....." Emma trails off, her face beetroot red.

"Words Emma." I murmur, to quiet to hear.

Axel, who was a lot closer to me, hears it and grins at me. The dimple on his cheek suddenly reappears and I have to keep my eyes on his eyebrows.

I'm so pathetic.

"I mean, it's just not my style." Emma pleads as the worker just glared at Emma.

I can't stand to watch the horrific awkwardness anymore, so I go and grab onto Emma's upper arm.

"Time to go."

••••

Emma and I end up finding outfits in a different store, due to the store assistant kicking us out.

So, we quickly head back to my dorm to get ready.

There's a note on my bed from Rob saying that he's gone to get ready with Axel, but they'll see us at the party.

A.k.a they've gone to get drunk before the party even begins.

"You know what's weird?" Emma says as she applies a ridiculous amount of black eyeliner to her eyes.

"What?" I ask, sitting beside her on my bed, using my phone as a mirror because Emma's stolen the bathroom one.

"That you and Axel are like basically going out, yet you still deny it."

"That's so not true." I huff, furrowing my eyebrows.

"It is, I don't know why you've not admitted it yet."

I think about Emma's point and how I seem to be getting strangely affected by Axel right now.

"Pfft, it's fine. It'll fade." I wave off, going back to my make-up.

"But you admit there's something there." Emma says from the bathroom.

"Maybe, but that doesn't mean anything's going to happen. Axel's got girls dropping at his feet all the time."

"Yeah, but you're smoking hot."

I laugh and shake my head. "Thanks Boo."

••••

Emma and I stand in front of the mirror in my room. Both looking nothing like our usual selves.

I'm wearing a body suit with some killer make-up done by Emma. My legs are covered in sheer tights and I'm wearing black high heels with studs on the heels.

Emma, however, is wearing a white dress with fake blood smeared across it. She's paired it with knee high black boots, making her legs look really long.

"Thank you so much." I squeal, hugging her.

"Your zombie welcome." She teases.

"That was so bad." I laugh.

"It's only going to get worse, my dear."

••••

Bodies grind. Music thumps. Alcohol stains the air.

Emma and I walk into Deans party, my eyes wide in astonishment.

The apartment, if you could call it that, is huge. A massive dance floor takes up the middle of the room, tables around it. A bar covers the whole back of the apartment, three bar tenders looking busy at work as drunken college students try to seduce them.

"Why are all the girls in lingerie?" I shout to Emma.

I'm standing right beside her but I still have to shout due to the volume of the music.

The base beat seems to be drumming inside of my chest. Like a drum, waiting to burst out.

"Because that's their type of Zombie Costumes." She shouts back, rolling her eyes.

"There's a girl over there in sequins, what's zombie-ish about that?" I laugh.

"Fuck knows, they just want to get with the billionaires son." She shrugs. "C'mon lets go get a drink." She motions with her hand.

We begin walking through the crowd and I suddenly thank myself that I wore high heels. Otherwise, my five foot five frame would have been swallowed in the sea of people.

Just as I reach the bar, a warm hand wraps around my wrist.

I spin round and my eyes connect with some electric blue ones.

"Axel?" I shout.

"Looking good, Skylar." He nods, his perfect white teeth looking brighter than usual in dark lighting of the party.

Butterflies swarm my stomach and I internally roll my eyes.

I need to get it together or else this party is going to end badly.
