Every time I think about how things could have been different. How he could still be sitting across from me, enjoying his latte, and reading Robert Brown. Some times reciting his favorite verses, even though I know them all by heart. How I could still hear his childlike giggle as he stole the last bit of my chocolate croissant as if he didn't do it every time before. Sneaking glances at me when he doesn't think I'm looking. Every day was the same. Absolute perfection.

But everything changes. Life is fluid, always in motion. Even if everything looks calm on the surface, there's a current just beneath ready to take you in a completely different direction. I never saw it coming. The surface had fooled me into thinking I could have every day be just the same. Constant, going in the same path as the day before. Life had taken hold though. 

It all starts with Alexander Breighton, my new boss. Intensely interested in what made me the way I am, he delves far into my past and brings forth situations I would rather lay buried.  At least six feet under. Now handling the truth and the daily interrogations from Alexander, I am struggling to keep things under control, and make sure my past stays where it is. As he digs deeper people whom I have nearly forgotten have made reappearances into my life, and not for the better. Is it time to leave this life I have built for myself? Or is it time to stand and fight for my innocence as everything around me threatens to go in flames.
