Waking up the morning after Jackson gets back home, something didn't feel right. I knew that Jackson was staying at the house, obviously, but I felt as though something wasn't going to go right today.

Slipping off my sheets, I head to the bathroom to shower and get dressed. Adding a little bit of makeup, I then head downstairs where the smell of bacon and cinnamon attack my nose.

"What's that smell?" I ask myself. Going into the kitchen I see Jackson leaning over the stove maintaining the griddle with French Toast and Bacon. A smile plays on my lips as I walk closer to him.

Soft music is playing from the radio and Jackson is slowly shaking his hips to the beat of the music while flipping the French Toast.

I place my hand over my mouth to contain my laughter as Jackson begins to move his hips from side to side, faster.

"Now the players gonna play, play, play, play, play, and the Haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, and I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake-" that's when I start laughing, I'm holding my stomach with tears coming out of my eyes.

"Oh...my...god..." I continue to laugh, I can see Jackson glaring daggers at me through the tears blurring my vision. "Whoo!" I wipe my eyes with the back of my hand after five minutes of laughing, give or take a few.

"When did you wake up?" Jackson asks me after I've completely sobered up and begin to head over to the bar stool.

"Ehh, probably like thirty minutes ago," I tell him, taking a seat at the island.

"How long were you watching me for?" He asks, his cheeks begin to tint a light pink and I chuckle.

"Only for like five minutes," I say, still chuckling a bit.

"That's good," he sighs in relief before returning his attention towards the French Toast.

"So, what time did Brit leave last night?"

"She didn't," I cringe. Well, let's just say after the fighting and arguing I heard from the two of them last night, I had not expected her to spend the night.

"You guys didn't..." I trail off, hinting what I was going to say.

"No," he laughs, "she just didn't want to face the wrath of her mom."

"That's good," I mumble and Jackson turns to face me with a determined look on his face. "What?"

"You and I are having dinner at the Mathew's today," he blurts out, I feel my eyes go wide at what I just heard.

"Excuse me?" Believe me I have nothing wrong with Mrs. Mathew's, she's a very nice lady and occasionally was my motherly figure when Jackson was at college. The thing is, I have a problem with going over there due to Colten's presence. I'm not comfortable with being around him.

"I said-"

"I know what you said! The question is, why on earth would you agree to something like that?!"

"Because, Nikki, you need to be the bigger person. From what I've heard from Mrs. Mathew's, you've become really close since I've been gone."

"Yeah, so?"

"So, she wanted us to be a family. It's the holidays Nik, get in the holiday spirit!"

"Actually, thanksgiving is in a week," I correct him. The college kids get two weeks off for thanksgiving break while us, High School kids, only get a week off. Unfortunately, I still have a week left of school.

"Shut up, Nikki," he growls and places a plate with French Toast and bacon in front of me.

"Yumm," I lick my lips and am ready to dig in until Jackson takes it away. "Hey!"

"Get your own," he says and I glower at him.

"Are you sure I can't back out?" I beg Jackson. We are currently in front of the big wooden door of the Mathew's household.

"No," Jackson deadpans.

"Please," I drag out the word.

"No," he says again.

"Jackson, your such an idiot, let me go home!" I shout in his face, yet he just knocks on the door. "No!"

"Oh put a sock in it, Nik," he growls. Acting like the spoiled child I am, I cross my arms over my chest and stick out my bottom lip to pout.

Seconds later Mrs. Mathew's opens the door with a triumphant smile on her beautifully dolled up face.

"Jackson! My have you gotten so big," she gushes, wrapping her skinny arms around Jackson broad shoulders.

"Nice to see you again, Mrs. Mathew's," Jackson greets letting go of the embrace.

"And my beautiful Nikki," her smile grows even more as she wraps me up in her arms as well.

"Mom, your going to suffocate her," I freeze at the sound of his deep, husky voice. I so badly want to look at him and get lost in his Hazel eyes, but I won't. I will restrain myself.

"Oh hush, why don't you guys come in," Mrs. Mathew's gestures with her hand into the house. Jackson and I follow after her, passing Colten on the way. I can smell his delicious cologne and all I want to do is bathe in it. He's always had the best smell. "So, I made chicken with mashed potatoes, green beans, and a cheese cake for desert."

"Sounds good," I smile at the thought of food filling my stomach.

As I suspected, Jackson and Colten disappeared upstairs, leaving me with Mrs. Mathew's.

"How have you been, sweetie?" Mrs. Mathew's asks. How have I been? I don't even know how to answer that. All though, everyone knows that when someone asks that, they don't really want to know your problems or anything.

"I've been good," I tell her shrugging a bit.

"That's good, mind helping me set the table, dear?"

"No, not at all," I say and she hands me a table cloth to be put on the dining table. We work together to lay it out correctly.

"I didn't think you would actually come," she whispers to me.

"I wouldn't miss it, sure Colten and I aren't on the best of terms, but your like a mom to me so I'm happy to be here," I explain to her sincerely.

"I still think he was an idiot to leave you behind," she mumbles to herself, I don't think she meant for me to hear, but knowing that I did, a small smile appears on my lips.

We work in silence to set the table and a few minutes later Mrs. Mathew's calls for the boys who have occupied them selves with video games, the usual.

"Let's say grace," Mrs. Mathew's announces, we hold hands, I place one of my hands in Jackson's and another in Mrs. Mathew's. "Let's dig in!"

All of us reach for our food, taking a little bit of everything. I haven't eaten since the breakfast Jackson made for me this morning so I'm starving. S-T-A-R-V-I-N-G. Yup, I know how to spell starving. Watch out everybody, I'm on fire, F-I-

"Nikki?" I shake my head and turn my attention to Mrs. Mathew's who was apparently talking to me. Couldn't she see that I was daydreaming about spelling?

"Yes?"

"How's your boyfriend, Trevor, was it?" Oh shit. I forgot I told Mrs. Mathew's about Trevor. Hey! Don't you dare judge me, she was like a mom for me.

I clear my throat and look down at my food, playing with a piece of chicken with my fork.

"Yeah, Nikki, how's Trevor?" Colten asks, saying his name with such venom and disgust and an involuntary shiver runs up my spine.

"He's good, really good. He's really sweet. Actually, I forgot to tell you that he took us out to a very romantic-"

"Is that so?" Colten spits.

"Colten," Mrs. Mathew's warns.

"No, tell me more, Nikki. Tell me more about your great, extravagant, romantic date with Trevor," Colten glares daggers at me from across the table. I'm going to play him like a violin. Not literally, that would be gross. OMG! If you've seen 'If I Stay', at the sex scene he's like pretend your playing a cello, it's like eeww! I'm never going to look at a cello the same way. Freaks.

"I will, so anyways we went to the beach and had a picnic under the stars, it was one of the most romantic things any guy has ever done for me," I finish my explanation on my date with Trevor. It really was the most romantic thing, I don't know how I got so lucky.

Colten stands up so quickly that his chair scrapes across the floor, then falling over.

"Colten!" Mrs. Mathew's shouts.

Slamming his fists down on the table he says, "I'm glad our relationship meant nothing to you." And with that he stalks off out of the kitchen.

Oh shit.
