"Juhi, Juhi! Wake up!", came the voice of Juhi's mother dearest.

Juhi who was sleeping as if there was no tomorrow, grumbled a response and went back to her beauty sleep.

Juhi's mother, had her ears strained yet she did not hear her daughter's voice. Annoyed, she climbed the stairs to wake the sleepy head herself.

Juhi had her head pushed into the softness of pillow. She was back to her dreamland, when she felt shakes. Wondering how her beautiful dream transformed into an earthquake, she woke up, to come face to face with her mother. Her mother heaved a sigh of relief and then gave her daughter a stern look. " Did I not tell you to wake up early today?"

Juhi was still sleepy, when she understood what her mom was saying she replied,
" You did?"

Now, she had to face the wrath of her mother. " Juhi! Grow up! Now you will get married and yet you don't show any signs of growing up!"

Before Juhi could reply, she again started with her rant, " You don't know how to cook or manage household work. You are busy on weekdays in the office and when I get freetime to teach you stuff, you do not comply!"

" But mom, I'm busy all the week, I get weekends for relaxing and I have to learn all this now?", Juhi was equally annoyed now.

" Mom, if I'm getting married to Vikram, I'll make sure he knows of my capabilities in managing house. He will surely understand."

Juhi's mother was now seeing red, " Juhi, even if he can hire help, you should know how to manage housework. I don't want any arguments get ready and meet me downstairs, you are cooking lunch today."

Juhi's mouth fell open, her mother was being unreasonable. She made a mental note, 'Next time, I see Vikram, he will comply to my demands of hiring househelp.' With that she got ready to bear her mother's training.

On the other hand, Vikram woke up early in the morning. He always spent his Sundays cleaning his mess. Though he was rich, he made sure to clean up his mess by his own.

After going through a morning of cleaning, he made himself comfortable in his home office going through the files.

Going through work was never a problem for him, but today he wasn't focused. His mind kept going back to a certain lady whose favorite color was green.

He had to complete work by late afternoon as he had plans to meet his friend, Rahul in the evening. Getting his thoughts straight with loads of determination he got back to working.

"Careful Juhi! You will burn your hand!", exclaimed Juhi's mother.

Juhi was annoyed, first she was woken up on her day off, then she had to listen to her mom's lecture and now here she was a novice in the kitchen.

Over the years, she never had interest in cooking. She only came inside to bake, since she had a sweet tooth. Apart from that, she could make Maggi and warm the water. Here, she was making chapati for the first time.

Her experience so far was disastrous. Her father couldn't stop laughing, he was seated on the kitchen island looking at his wife and daughter both trying to convince the other to do things their way.

She was first asked to cut the veggies. Somehow, she managed doing that without shedding a drop of blood. Then she had to make the dough for chapatis.

She was given flour, salt and water to start with. Though the instructions were clear to not use too much of water, she was successful in making a swimming pool out of the flour.

Her mother had to overtake the situation and teach her patiently, how to knead a proper dough.

Her mother didn't lose hope. She taught her how to make chapatis. Giving her a chance, she was given the belan( rolling pin).

Though her rotis (chapatis) resembled the maps of various countries, they were good enough to be cooked. So, here she was trying to pick the roti up from the hot stove. She managed to make the rotis with a few slight burns on her fingers.

The meal was cooked by her, for the first time she had made roti( chapati), vegetable, rice. While dal (curry) was courtesy of her mother.

At the table, she looked anxiously up at her father, when he took a bite of the roti and vegetable. He said, " Wow Juhi, you made better roti than your mom when she was your age."

He was quickly swatted on the arm by her mother. She said, " Well your father is just being your father! " Her father chuckled at that.

" This is good for first attempt. From tomorrow you will join me in the kitchen.", commanded her mother.

She looked at her father for help, " High command has ordered, I can't help you!" He said raising his hands.

"Besides, anyways, you should learn a few things, for your own self."

Juhi pouted but then agreed with her mother. Afterall, she did not want her husband to make fun of her, for her shapeless rotis.
