I stood at his door and knocked thrice. After the third knock a young girl opened the door. She was approximately 17 or 18. From her clothes and whole demeanor I knew she was a maid.

"I am here to see Mr. Vikram"

"Yes mam, do come in. Sir has instructed me to take you to his study" She said in a small voice.

I entered the house. It looked more beautiful in sunlight. The natural light illuminated its beauty ten fold.

"What is your name? I asked her.

"Rama" she said and gave me small smile.

We took the stairs and she led me from a way through which Vikram took me last night.

We passed his room and I couldn't help but peek inside. It was still neat except for a towel which was sprawled on a chair. That towel would have been wrapped around him sometime ago. Lucky towel.

Rama motioned me towards a black door.

"Thanks" I entered into the room.

It was a office. I could tell, the desk, the files, the mess. I have seen it in Harish Kaka's study.

I went inside and saw Vikram standing on the window with a file in his hand.

"Aheem" I cleared my throat to get his attention.

"Ms. Lila"

"Vicky" I smiled sweetly. I could see that he got irritated by it.

"Don't call me that"

"Okay, Okay. I am here to make a deal with you" I stated without any sweet talk.

He leaned towards me with his hands on the table and his biceps trying to get out of his shirt. His brown eyes piercing mine.

"I am a businessman Miss. Lila, be careful before making any kind of deal with me."

I could see a faint smile on his face like he was hiding it. Great he thinks I am funny. He knew I had no experience in this kind of things.

"Lets get Married"

I blurted out.

"What?" He asked looking at me like I am an deranged person.

"For a year, Lets get Married." I said clearly "I will sign the whole contract over to you but you have to be married to me for a year."

He raised an eyebrow and asked."What do you want in return?"

"My Freedom"

He seemed confused.

"Are you sure you won't gain anything out of it?"

"See Viku, If you are not interested in having back your business then please tell me. I am not gonna get married anytime soon if this dosen't work" Which was obviously not true but I wasn't gonna tell him that.

"My name is Vikram" He said going around the table and taking one more step towards me.

Was it the only thing he understood.?

"Are you telling me the truth?" He said as he neared me. He was so near that I was having difficulty forming words.

"Yyesss.." I couldn't manage to say anything further.

"Really?" He was now standing very close to me. So close that my nostrils filled with his cologne. His stubble was smaller than yesterday. Did he trim it? I felt like touching it.

"You are invading my personal bubble" I wanted to say that him being so close to me was affecting my brain function but I settled for what I said.

"If we get married then I will have to a lot more than just coming near you" He whispered in my ears.

My back hit the wall and he put his arms on either side of me on the wall. I was trapped by Vikram.

His words did things to me that even Nutella didn't managed to do.
I felt dizzy. These feelings were new to me. I was a girl who was never kissed. I was a girl who never had a boyfriend. The aroma coming from him was intoxicating me deeply.

Apart from some creeps on Facebook nobody actually talked to me this way. I actually had sizzling sensations when he said those words to me. I came to know what I missed out on. Even if he didn't touch me every cell of my body was electrified.
And I wanted all those things with Vikram.

No, he hasn't even said yes. Even if he says yes he will divorce you the second you give him back his business.

I felt like somebody crushed all my hope. But it was me. Those were my thoughts.

"What are you thinking?" He asked me real slow.

I was prevented from answering. There was a knock from the door which made us come out of our heated movement. I don't whether it was a good thing or bad.

His mother, Rajini aunty entered the room.

"Rama just told me about you being here. How are you my dear"

"I am fine" I said smiling.

"You are flushed. What happened?" I touched my cheeks, they might be red due to the fact that Vikram was...

Just thinking about that might have made them red again.

For the second time in 5 minutes I was prevented from answering because it was Vikram who answered.

"Maa, we want to get married"

Rajini aunty's mouth was open from shock and so was mine.

********

Vikram didn't tell his mother anything about our deal but I wasn't sure what was included in it.

A deal should contain some conditions dosen't it? Some ground rules should be made.

They should be made to prevent me from a heartbreak.

After his mom left in utter happiness that her son was getting married, I told Vikram to take a seat so that we could discuss some things.

He was shocked by seriousness of my words but complied.

"We should talk about our deal. Do you want me to sign on some kind of papers for our One year marriage?" I didn't want any complications later. Complications being him assuming things and blaming me in the end

"Do you really want it to be for one year?"

"What?" Did I hear him right?

"Ms. Lila, I will be quite frank with you. I have achieved most of the goal that I had set for me in my life. I am at the peak of my career. I have  everything that I want, everything that I need. I think its time for me to get settled down"

He wanted to really marry me? 'Marry' marry me?

"But you don't love me? Then why?" I asked

"Isn't that what arranged marriages are all about? First wedding then love? Instead of our parents we are ourselves deciding about it"

"Arrange marriage. I came here because I didn't want to get involved into the whole arranged marriage trap. I wanted to live my life my way. I wanted to learn languages. Roam the world. Live in different cities. But this situation is like, its either a knife or gun, either ways my dreams are getting slaughtered" I said fuming.

I never thought I would pour my heart out to Vikram.

He just sat there staring at me with a gaze that even I couldn't recognize.

I knew it was a lost cause so I decided to leave.

"Marry me and I will give you the freedom to study whatever you want in a University back in LA. I will take you away from your grandmother and make sure that you never have to see her again. If you want me to sign a contract I will sign it but after one year if both of us agree for separation then only we will get separated"

His words made me stop in my tracks.

"Why are you so hell bent on marrying me?" I asked.

"Because I realise along with the business I need something else" He got up and strided towards me closing the distance between us. It was the second time today that I was getting that electric sensations from within me.

"What?" I asked breathlessly

"An heir"

That made me come out of trance. I was cursing my poor luck. Just when I thought there was some good coming out of this thing, It fell apart. First promising me freedom then imprisoning me by demanding a child? My hatred for him increased by the second.

"That's what you want from me? A baby machine? I tell you what Mr. Vikram Joshi. I reject your proposal."

With that I left the room.
