Nathan

I entered my house and softly closed the door behind me before making my way toward the stairs that led to my room when a voice spoke, stopping me in my tracks.

"I was looking for you after the game today, Nate."

I spun around to see Shelly at the entrance to the kitchen, her arms folded.

Was she laywaiting me?

"You guys deliberately ditched me, didn't you?"

I sighed. "I am sort of tired, going to get some rest, Shelly."

She pushed her hair back, taking a deep breath. "Are you still upset about what I did?"

"Are you really asking me this? You made everything blew out of hand Shelly, obviously I would still be mad at you."

She approached me. "I am sorry, okay? I know it's too late but I shouldn't have done that."

I scratched my forehead. "Yeah, it already happened."

I turned away when she gripped my hand quickly. "The day I kissed you at the villa...I felt something. Did you honestly not feel anything?"

I looked at her, her eyes looked teary. "No. I love Chelsy, I don't feel that way for anyone else, I am sorry."

She released me and nodded, a tear falling from her eye as she looked down. "I'll wait for you. I'll wait until you get tired of her. Then maybe you will come to me."

I stared at her. "I am sorry, I don't think I will ever get tired of her...you will find someone to love you, I am just sorry that it won't be me."

I sighed. "Goodnight, Shelly."

She placed her palms over her eyes and cried as I turned away and made my way up the stairs to my room.

I waltzed downstairs, stretching and yawning tiredly as my Mom was making breakfast in the kitchen.

"Good morning," I said, popping a quick kiss on her cheek.

"Good morning, sweetie, breakfast is almost finished."

I smiled as I found my spot around our dinning table where my baby sister was already seated in her little protective chair. I played with her a bit before realizing that I saw no sign of Shelly.

My mom made her way over to the table holding a plate of fruits. "Nathan, Shelly called her Mom early this morning to come pick her up, she wasn't supposed to leave until a few days time, but apparently she didn't want to stay any longer."

She rested the dish in the centre of the table before resting a hand on her waist. "Do you have any idea why she would've left so soon?"

My mom always felt like when it came to girls and their awkward shift in emotions and choices that I somehow had something to do with it.

Even though I knew I did but-

I shrugged, reaching for a piece of apple cut and putting it into my mouth. "Maybe she was homesick."

My mom looked deep in thought. "Megan (Shell's Mom) even said she was crying when she called. I wonder what happened."

"Got no idea," I said with a sigh.

Which was obviously a lie.

I knew Shelly was hurt because of my rejection last night and so she left earlier than she was supposed to. Can't say I regretted the words because I meant them but I hoped she would find someone to love her wholeheartedly.
