I threw a snowball at my brother while he was watching TV, and my mom yelled at me...because APPARENTLY I'm "not supposed to throw snowballs in the house"

Psh, whatever that means.

Anyways, I threw another at him while he was cooking and then proceeded to get sent to my room.

I woke up in bed to find myself alone, wearing nothing but Sinisters white dress shirt. Light flooded through the sliding glass door of the balcony.

I squeezed my eyes shut. Maybe if I pretend like I didn't open my eyes, then my body won't force me to wake up.

Too late.

My head instantly began filling with thoughts, my mind trailing to thoughts of Afanas...

I think about him a lot, I think about the way he carried himself, and the way his eyes glittered with mischief.

I find myself wanting to talk to him, now more than ever. I find myself searching for him inside of everyone I meet. But he won't be found, and it's that dark truth, that hurts me the most.

My thoughts of Afanas immediately led to Rachel.

I pulled out my phone, dialing her phone number.

For the first time, she actually picked up.

"Hello?" Her voice was high and chirpy.

"Rachel?? Oh my god, thank Jesus you're okay. You haven't answered your phone in weeks. Are you okay? Why haven't you been answering my calls?" My voice was desperate.

I heard her giggle on the other line. She fucking giggled.

"I gotta go, Cal." She giggled into the receiver before the line went dead.

I knew she was in North Carolina with her family, she said she needed some time away. I didn't think that time to recover would be so short lived. She sounded as though she was having a great time. Too good of a time to even call her best friend back.

The door to the bedroom flung open, and Sinister stood in front of me. He wore an expensive looking black suit, his face freshly shaved, his icy eyes looked alert and awake.

He grinned boyishly at me as he watched me sit up in the covers.

"Have a nice sleep, flower?"

I stretched my arms out, "Yeah, but holy hell, it feels like someone fucked me with a refrigerator, Jesus Christ."

He snickered, sitting at the edge of the bed as I pulled the sheets up and over my face.

"I have a meeting today. Sebastian and Gabriel will keep you company. I've informed them of your wishes to become my second in command, so whatever you three do, should be related to preparing for that role." He ran his fingers through my hair.

I nodded under the sheets, pulling the blanket so that only my eyes were visible.

"I should be home tonight, okay?" He ran his fingers across my face gently.

I nodded, "Love you."

He pressed his lips to my forehead before retreating out of the room.

I hopped out of the bed, changing into a fitted sweater and pants, and pulled my hair into a high pony tail.

I was in the process of swiping gloss over my lips when I heard the front door open, Sebastian and Gabriels voices rang throughout the house.

I sprinted down the stairs to greet them, Sebastian dangled my car keys in front of me, his face looked bright.

"You totally got laid last night." I muttered as I grabbed the keys and pushed past them.

Mom burst out laughing as I walked into the kitchen, it was our cooks day off so I began scavenging the fridge for something to eat.

"Her name was...." Sebastians voice trailed off as he searched his mind for the womans name.

I rolled my eyes, "lemme guess. Crystal, Brittney, Amber, Tiffany, Brandy, Lola, Angel, Ginger, Candy, Cherry, Kitty, Jade, Destiny, Scarlett, Bambi....?"

Sebastian thought for a moment before shaking his head.

"Was it Mercedes?"

"Nope."

"Toyota Corolla?"

"No."

"Honda Odyssey?" I tried again.

Sebastian crossed his arms, "No. It's offensive that you'd think I fucked someone named after a fucking minivan, but okay."

I pouted, "Can I get a hint?"

"Her name is a place where will neither of us will ever go?" He suggested, his eyes filling with amusement.

"HEAVEN!!! I KNEW IT!!!!Her name was Heaven!!" I jumped up and down excitedly, giving him a high five before turning back to the fridge.

Gabriel sighed, "Unfortunately, the only reason Seb here thought fucking a stripper named Heaven was okay, is because he finished an entire handle of Jack Daniels before he skipped inside."

I raised my eyebrow at Seabass, "You skipped?"

"It's a hidden talent." He shrugged, watching me as I pulled an entire strawberry cheesecake from the fridge.

Gabriel and Sebastian grabbed forks, immediately digging into MY cheesecake.

"So" Gabriel mused through a creamy bite, "I heard you're trying to become Sinister's second in command."

I raised an eyebrow, "Yes..."

"That's a big role for such a little girl." Gabriel's speckled grey eyes adverted from mine.

I crossed my arms, "Don't judge my choices, if you don't understand my reason."

"Enlighten me then." He mused, casting his eyes over to Sebastian who waited for my answer patiently.

"I'm not afraid to die fighting, but I am afraid of being killed like some poor, helpless little girl. If I'm going to be married to one of the most powerful men in the country, it's about damn time I start acting like it. I've been fucked over too many times, and I'm not afraid to pull the trigger. I won't feel remorse either, because I'll do what I need to do for the ones I love. I'm not that sweet little girl anymore. I'm sure as hell not going to wait for anyone to save me. I'll kill any fucker that tries to hurt the people I love."

Sebastian and Gabriel watched me, surprise filling their eyes as I huffed out a breath of air, and shoved a massive forkful of cheesecake into my mouth.

They looked almost as though they hoped I was joking. I wasn't. I had never been more serious about anything in my life.

Sebastian finally spoke, his eyes still wide with shock.

"You're really serious about this, aren't you darlin'?"

I nodded, shoving another massive piece of cheesecake in my mouth.

"Becoming a cold hearted motherfucker wasn't really what I planned to become in my life, but here I am." I put my fork down, watching as the two men in front of me digested my words.

It gives me so much strength to have people to fight for, I can never fight for myself, but for others, I can kill.

I could never see myself being a badass who walks into a room, and kills everyone. It's not something I could ever strive for. The kind of person who everyone fears and cowers from? That's Sinister.

But I have my mind, my passion, and my drive. And quite honestly? That's the only thing I need to execute the things I plan to do.

"Well, darlin'..." Sebastian hopped off the counter, "If you plan to be the Mafia's second in command, I think it's our duty to show you what you'll really be doing."

Sebastian walked briskly out of the kitchen, Gabriel following him close behind.

I pushed away all apprehension I had, and followed the men outside.

They were seated in Gabriels car, both men motioning for me to get in.

The second I stepped into the car, Gabriel slammed on the gas petal, lurching the car into acceleration. We sped out of my excessivley long driveway, the car pulling past the guarded gates, and turned left onto the high way.

After a few turns, I realized we were heading towards the compound.

"Why are we going to the compound?" I questioned, my body was stiff.

"You want to learn? This is how you're going to learn." Was all Sebastian said, as the car sped down the freeway.

His words left millions of questions in my mind, but I stayed silent. I knew he wouldn't answer them.

We were silent throughout the drive, the only sound to be heard was of Sebastian humming Piano Man by Billy Joel.

We finally pulled into the drive of the compound, passing past multiple guarded gates until we parked out front.

The men said nothing as they led me past the four guards out front, and into the building.

Everything seemed so much darker since Afanas died. It was almost as if the limited light in this dark place, had been sucked up and breathed out into nothingness.

He was the small figure of light in all of the destruction.

Sebastian and Gabriel walked down a familiar hall, and into a room I knew all too well. It was the room they used to torture people.

I froze outside the door, my eyebrows flying into my hairline as I stared at the men, waiting for me to explain.

Sebastian raked a hand through his bleached blonde hair, his hazel eyes peircing the floor before they glanced up at me.

"Inside" he sighed "Is a man named Andre Levito, he shot and killed six of our men."

I frowned, "What? Why?"

Gabriel's eyes darkened, "It was a drug shipment. He, and three other men, blitz attacked our men while they were unloading the cargo. We killed his accomplices, but not before they murdered six of our own. We tortured him for information, and now that we're done with him..."

His voice trailed off.

I folded my arms in front of me, "What do you want me to do?"

There was a slight pause.

"I want you to kill him."
