"Stop fidgeting and go call your brothers."

It's Christmas day and mum's been insufferable all day long, scolding me and ordering me around with endless tasks. The bump is showing already, getting bigger as time goes by. She can still do everything but I've noticed she has been asking a lot of stuff. Or maybe it's me? It's been a while since I've felt this nervous and she's trying to get my mind off of it.

It's stupid really, I've met her father already and she's met my family before but still, it feels different. Makes it all the more official.

However, it's not the only thing that's been bothering me. Spending time with her or texting and not being able to tell her those fucking words? I'm wasting away every time I feel like blurting it out and have to hold myself back.

That's why I have a plan, and it won't go past tomorrow.

"Dylan!" My mum calls me.

"On my way," I grumble, heading upstairs to get Jeremy and Wilder.

The same moment I open their bedroom door is the moment the doorbell rings and two tiny meerkats run over me.

"Luna!" They both exclaim, running downstairs.

I grab Wilder before he can reach the staircase and carry him, unbothered, as he trashes against my arms. When we reach the ground floor, I let him go and he almost trips on his own feet to crash against Luna, who's already being crushed by Jeremy and my mum.

Behind them, Aiden is talking to uncle Jake and my dad.

Well, I am no longer the family's favourite. I am just glad their favourite is also my favourite.

"You're glowing," Luna gushes to my mum.

"Arg, everyone keeps telling me that but I feel like a hippo already." She whines. "Here, you probably can't feel anything yet but well, people enjoy doing it." She grabs her hand and places it on her bump.

I am still amazed at how quickly they've clicked and how well they get along.

Until this, I never knew I wanted my mother to get along with my girlfriend this much. But I do, there's no downgrading from here on out.

I ain't changing woman either, obviously.

"Hey baby," I coo when my mum finally lets go of her, wrapping my arm around her shoulders and bringing her in for a quick kiss.

"Hey," she breathes with closed eyes.

"You okay?" I whisper, caressing her cheek.

She nods at the same time someone yanks her away from me," Alright, that's still my daughter. Hands to yourself."

Aiden is maintaining a serious face but I can't help but not take him seriously. She can be his daughter but I have been with her longer, if anything he should be thankful I brought him back to her life.

"Do not go there," Luna warns quietly. "Just say yes and don't stir shit up."

Looking down at her, I agree even before I process what I am doing. She's my fucking weakness, there isn't something I could say no to, to her.

I guess we're both protective of her then.

"I'll try my best," I answer him. "It's hard though."

He scoffs and I can't help but smirk, before extending my hand to shake, "Welcome to the Davis house."

"Isn't that my job?" My dad snickers from behind me.

"It's been proven your job is to impregnate your wife countless times," Jake chimes in.

While Aiden and Luna chuckle, dad smirks while my mum blushes, gushing the two young devils inside.

"This is going to be fun," Luna tells her dad.

My plans to sit next to her for lunch were completely demolished when my mum made herself comfortable on one side and Jeremy jumped on the other before  I could reach the chair. I was prepared to throw a fit but one glare for mum and Luna kept me hushed until we finished the food.

She's been the centre of attention thus far, and even though I don't mind giving her the spotlight, I am not that keen on sharing. Even if it's just my family.

But there's no way anyone else is stealing her from me when it gets to hand out the presents. I want to be close when she opens hers.

That's why as soon as I finish helping out clearing the table, I grab her hand and tug her to the living room, where the tree is filled with presents. I sit her on my lap and wrap my arms around her waist, not letting her stand up again.

She tries a couple of times, but I tighten my hold enough times for her to realize I am not letting go. Ever.

"Let me go!" She grumbles lowly, so only I can hear.

The words trigger memories, especially the ones when I carried her over my shoulder. I can't help but smile at our antics and how we were always bantering or arguing. We still do, but it's a different dynamic.

This time around, it ends up in hot, amazing sex.

Fuck, remembering those things and having her on my lap, does things to me. We're supposed to be having a PG kind of day - this is harder than I fucking thought.

Burying my head into her loose waves, that unique scent of her, overwhelming me, I whisper to her ear, "Like a wise guy once said," I start, pressing her ass tighter against my join. "Stop being a bitch for once in your life and stay still."

"Ohhh," she sighs. "That's familiar."

"Isn't it?" I smirk into her hair, so no one else sees my face.

It'd be a dead giveaway.

"Alright, kiddos," my mum exclaims excitedly to Jeremy and Wilder.

It has the opposite effect on me and Luna, startling us. Jake chuckles from my left side, as he sits down next to us with a knowing look and I snicker at him before turning my attention back to my mum.

"Time to hand out the gifts."

Jeremy and wild plummet to the floor between us and the tree, eagerly waiting for their time. Luna tried to stand up but I press her against me, not yet ready for her to stand up.

"Give me a minute, baby."

Her back vibrates as she starts to hold back a laugh, and I groan. Am I an addict?

I was never this horny before her.

Jeremy and Wilder eagerly open their gifts, being most of the focus. But everyone gets a gift, even Luna's dad, who's been bonding deeply with dad and Jake - who he already knew.

My mum, approaches everyone with a clearing of the throat, "This gift is for Liam but you all may as well watch it."

My dad raises his eyebrow, not quite trusting my mum. She was never one to prank others, it has always been us ganging up against her but still. We all start thinking, when is it that she's taking her revenge?

Maybe it's now.

He hands dad a small paper bag and he opens it, eyeing her curiously before taking out its contents. It's a tiny white babygrow, and it confuses us all as to why she's giving him that.

We all know she's pregnant.

But then, he opens it and his eyes glaze over. He's shaking, trying to contain the sobs I know are coming and shakily turns the baby grow so we can all see it.

In bold letters, it's written "Daddy's little princess."

A girl. A fucking girl.

"YES! IT'S A GIRL!" Jake shouts, jumping up and down repeatedly.

Jeremy groans as Wilder copies uncle Jake. I can't help but hug my mum while my dad turns the babygrow back to him and he keeps looking at it dazed.

"Finally, a girl we can spoil!" Uncle Jake fist pumps the air, making us all laugh.

Dad finally stands up and rushed over to hug mum, barely giving me time to escape back to the couch. They hug and cry and kiss—gross—until mum is wiping her tears with shaky laughter.

"You have a beautiful family," Luna whispers to my ear, making me smile and mutter a thank you.

I know. I am one of the lucky ones, especially since I've had her in my life too.

"Oh, this is for you Luna, from my sweet Dylan," Mum announces.

Without a warning, Luna jumps from my lap, towards my mum and I have to awkwardly adjust to try and cover my semi. Jake and dad start laughing historically while Aiden looks at me disapprovingly.

Argh.

She plops herself back on my lap, robbing me of air for a second.

"What is this?" she asks, looking at me with doe eyes.

"Open it."

She does, tearing at the paper, revealing a black leather jacket. She eyes it curiously, the pads of her fingers grazing at the zippers and buttons,

"I love it," she says.

"Turn it around."

"What?" she asks, confused and I nod towards the jacket.

She does as I said and there, in bold letters, it's written "Not your baby" with the word not crossed over. She starts laughing out loud, at our inside joke.

"You like it?" I ask eagerly.

"I love it," she smiles back at me, standing up to dress it.

I start getting anxious because any minute now, she'll notice the second part of her gift. As she fits both arms into the sleeves, she starts fixing them and opening the pockets. That's when a folded envelope falls to the ground.

"What the hell is that?" she asks, absent-mindedly and yet, bringing everyone's attention to us.

"Hear me out," I start, fearful.

"What did you do now?" she asks sharply, picking it up from the ground.

"We were talking about-, and you-, I wanted to-," I stumble over my words, as she rips the envelope, revealing what's inside.

Her eyes focus on the paper, moving quickly as she reads to the letters imprinted on it. I notice her doing it twice, then a third before zoning back on me. Everyone else is silent, watching us and it makes me all the more nervous.

Is this when she makes me swallow the tickets and tells me to fuck off?

"What's this?"

"I thought we deserved a weekend away," I try.

"In freaking Paris?" she yells.

"Well, yeah-"

"Sweet Christ," uncle jake exclaims, bringing my attention for just a second, noticing him laughing.

Of course, he'd be having a fit with this.

"I don't know which one of you is more whipped. You or your dad."

"It's romantic," my mum gushes, somewhere in the living room.

"I-, Are you mad?" I stutter, like a fool.

"What? No, I-."

"What's wrong?" I pull her back onto my lap.

"This must have cost a fortune, Dylan, I can't-"

"I'm stopping you right there. Even if I told you it was cheap, you'd find something to complain about and that's not what we do. If you don't like I can get you something else, we-"

"No! I love it!" She exclaims, pecking at my lips quickly, relaxing me at last.

"Here, this is yours." She shoves a rectangular box into my hands, sitting down next to me.

I open it, revealing a set of paints—not just any kind, the best brand and my favourite to use, not to mention they're oil paints, not acrylic - and brushes and a light blue painting palette.

My mouth opens, in shock. How the fuck did she even know I...

"It's not as good as your present," she whispers. "But I remember you mentioning how you wanted to start getting into oil paints and experiment and well, the palette reminded me too much of your eyes. I couldn't leave it behind."

"I love it. I love-" I pause, almost blurting it out.

It could be a good moment to do it. It is.

We're surrounded by nothing but love but still.

This is intimate, it's ours and I want it to be just the two of us.

"I really fucking love this present." I hug her. "First thing I am painting with these, it's you. Those soft and sexy curves of yours," I whisper to her ear, making her shiver.

She laughs, stating my back, but still not letting go.

"Thank you, baby," I whisper before pecking her lips.

"I am not your baby," she snickers, making us all laugh.

Now, how many of you thought I was about to ruin Christmas for Luna and Dylan?

Pic of the jacket that inspired me is at the top of the chapter.

On a serious note, I can't help but share my thoughts and feelings regarding Ukraine's situation. It's a clear crime against Humanity and it needs a stop. I seriously hope it can be managed through peace. This country deserves its identity AND freedom. It's our job to show our support. It's the 21st century, there shouldn't be any more space for tyranny - anywhere!
