A group of men and women were scattered around the alley. Skye could see what they were doing perfectly clear and it horrified her. Her throat was tightening and she could feel the burning in her stomach as her eyes started to water from the painful burn.

'What..what the hell is going on...' she questioned herself as she turned to look around the wall.

These people were cutting off their own skin. Skye could see that from where she was. The people had bandages all over them, Skye guessing that they did this often. These people were cutting off their own flesh as their blood gushed from their limbs. The red liquid dripping down into bowls and tubs.

Skye was so focused on the people she couldn't see the arising problem that was on the other side of the fence opposite from her and the group of people. When it appeared the people were done injuring themselves they grabbed the bowls, tubs with the slabs of skin and blood and gathered around the fence and that's when Skye noticed what they were doing.

'They're feeding the zombies their own flesh willingly....what the hell has this world come to.' Skye thought as she slowly climbed back to the vent and turned the walkie talkie back on.
"Skye, are you ok?! You need to answer me!" Jeremiah's voice can be heard over the walkie talkie. "We need to get out of this building and away from this city.." Skye finally replied as she climbed out the opening of the opposite side of the room the two men were in.

Skye standing in front of the door as she checked to see if there were any zombies around her. 'The whole purpose of going through the vents was because the doors that lead to the roof need a key card and we couldn't find a single one...' she thought to herself as she grabbed the handle of the door and pushed it open.

"Come on, we need to hurry up!" Jeremiah said as he picked up the map they found and rushed up the rest of the stairs to the roof. Rick running after him with Skye just walking after both of them.

" Don't look on the left of the building, there's a hoard with people who are insane.." Skye said a little bit too late as Jeremiah looked at that side with the people. "JESUS-.... What the fuck are they doing are they insane they're going to get themselves killed!? We need to help them!" He whispered as he looked at Skye and Rick.

Rick looked at him with a deadpan expression as he pointed at himself "What do you mean by "we"?? If you wanna help insane people who feed the zombies you're on your own, I'm not dying for some random people!" Rick said as he turned around and sat against the wall of the door.

Jeremiah looked at Skye with desperation on his face while letting out an exasperated breath. "No, don't look at me. I'm not helping either. I'd rather be stuck in a room with my deadbeat father than help those people." Skye spoke with a monotone voice as she looked at the sky filled with white fluffy clouds. 'Oh how I would love to be a cloud...' Skye thought as she closed her eyes from how bright the sky was.

Jeremiah huffed in frustration as he looked at both of them in disappointment. "So we're just gonna let them slowly kill themselves?!" He whisper shouted at the two. Skye and Rick looked at each other and then looked at Jeremiah not saying anything. "What the hell is wrong with you two!? They're people just like-" Jeremiah's argument was cut off when he felt something hit him in the face.

"If you want to get yourself killed, be my guest! But don't be dragging us into your shit! Either you stay with us or get left behind! We are not saving people who are obviously fucking insane!" Skye shouted as she glared at Jeremiah through her bangs while grabbing another can from her bag.

"Maybe I will! You guys are so fucking selfish! Why can't you just listen to me and hear me out!? These people need serious help, whether they're sane or not they're still human!" Jeremiah shouted at Skye as he took a few steps closer to her.

"What about Mich then huh, we could've saved him but we didn't, you didn't feel anything for him yet you wanna save some random people we have never seen??You must have had a good life before this to have such a nice point of view of people... I'll be heading out now. Hope you survive." Skye said as she turned around to head downstairs.

Jeremiah stood there with irritation coursing through his veins. Without thinking he shouted something that he would regret immediately after.
"Maybe it'll be better if you do leave! Your family is probably glad they aren't stuck with you!" He shouted but soon stopped himself as he realized what he said.

Silence soon enveloped the whole rooftop. Nobody moved. Skye was frozen in her steps at the stairwell as her breath got caught into her throat making her eyes water from the loss of air. Rick stood there in shock as his gaze was solely on Skye in case she did something. He remembers when they were talking about their lives before the whole pandemic went down and the world went to shit.

"What'd you guys do before this whole thing started?" Jeremiah asked as he was laying down on the cold cement. "I was an engineer. I mostly worked on small cars in a downtown auto shop. It didn't pay that well but it kept me living off the streets.." Rick replied as he was looking at the stars lighting up the dark abbess. "What about you Skye? You got any siblings or something?" Rick asked as he picked at the skin around his finger nails. "I don't know if they're still alive, but if it counts I have four older brothers and one older sister. My sister was at college when this happened, my brothers were out at my uncle's house partying. My mom was at work and my father? Who knows, he was probably in a jail cell again. Me on the other hand, I was at home but like other people I packed up supplies and ran." Skye explained as she looked at the ground.

A forceful laugh pierced through the sickening silence of the rooftop.

"Yeah you're probably right...You should be careful around here. You didn't grow up around here so naturally you don't know what the people are like." Skye said as she continued her previous mission, which was to get out of the building and far away from it. "Just remember it's not the zombies you should be afraid of, It's the people." She advised as she disappeared from their view and down the stairs.
