"But in all chaos there is calculation"

CHAPTER THREE
PAGE THREE
After finding out the news Clementine set the boys and workman to work, meanwhile she called the local police station to inform them of her mothers arrival in town and set to make sure the house was as safe as it could be in its current state.

During dinner in which the four of them sat eating their microwave meals she attempted to join in on the banter but found herself unable to keep focus on the conversation.

Clementine now sat on the floor next to the burning fire reading her book, she had been on the same sentence since opening the book approximately three quarters of an hour ago.

Everyone else fell asleep long ago and Jamie's snores were all that could be heard in the quiet of the night.

Wren however had been lying watching Clementine and finally decided enough was enough.

He walked towards the fire and carefully tapped Clementine on the shoulder making her jolt.

"Come on" he said with a nudge of his head towards the door.

Putting his arm around her shoulders he walked her over to the jacket pile where they assembled layers upon layers of clothing to keep them warm before heading out the door.

They walked in silence; Wren using his phone as a torch.

They walked out towards the large grassy area in which the deer had roamed that morning.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Questioned Wren as he watched the dew on the grass shimmer in the light of the torch.

Clementine came to a stop, looked up towards the moon and heaved a sigh.

"I- you don't have to listen you know, I'm going to tell you for safety reasons but take the information as you will and there's no need to worry about more than you and the other two." Her voice shook with every word and the moon illuminated the water in her eyes.
Wren took her hand in his, squeezing ever so gently.

"My mother, she's in town, she was put in jail for twenty years but she's out now and is looking for me," her voice squeaked and she paused to regain composure.

"My mother tried to run away when I was two years old, my father caught her, he was severely depressed and she stayed. It wasn't much later that she set fire to our home late one night."
She let go of Wren and began twiddling her hands together.

"My father was recently injured at his work, he managed to save me-" tears began to flow down her cheeks and she sat on the grass.
"He died"

She pulled out her purse and opened it up to a photo of her father, a man of around middle age who wore a smile that radiates happiness.

"That's the day I was born, I don't remember him anymore but I know that he loved me more than anything"
Wren brought Clementine closer allowing her to weep onto his shoulder.

This happened for quite sometime before she looked up again her eyes red and tired.

"My mother was charged but there wasn't enough evidence to put her away for life. She blames me and I got a restraining order against her for when she would be free. I moved into this town with my grandma and she did her best to raise me through her grief of losing a son."

"My father loved this house as much as I did, I found out when I was five and ever since I've saved every penny I can to make our dream come alive."

Clementine had stopped crying now.

The two sat in silence just watching the moon as Wren processed the information.

"He'd be very proud of you, I know that for certain"
