Isobel P.O.V.

"Milky Mike's?" I chuckled as we hopped out of the car at our destination. It was a cute little diner that used to be our regular hangout spot as teens.

"Yeah," Sophie grinned. "They still have amazing food and milkshakes!"

"So many memories," Kade noted with a light smile, as his eyes flickered over to me.

I looked down and smiled too. Even if he was a pain in the ass, we all had such good times here.

The ding of the bell above the door rang out as Sophie, Oliver, Kade and I stepped through. It looked a little nicer than I remembered, as if it got a quick revamp. There were nice blue leather plush booths lining the window's edge, with a grey marble-patterned linoleum floor and large circular tables and chairs placed in different corners of the place. It had a sort of quirky vibe to it, with the contrast of sea-inspired and retro decor.

"Isobel, is that you?" A plump woman in her late 50's came out in an apron, hands on her hips.

"Hi Mrs. Morris," I smiled, coming over to give her a friendly hug. "How are you?"

"I'm good dear! My, you have grown into a beautiful young lady now haven't cha?" she gestured towards me with wide eyes.

"Aw thankyou," I chuckled bashfully. I sure hope I've grown since then. "Where's Mr. Morris?"

"Mike's out the back cookin," she said, "MIKE! Ya won't believe who's here!"

"What is it woman?" He huffed, coming out in an apron. "Oh my! It's the kids! How are you all? Kade! Isobel! I haven't seen you two in years!"

"Hi Mike," Kade grinned before they gave each other a big bear hug.

"Stayin out of trouble are ya boy?" he grinned slyly, as he pulled back from the hug and gripped onto Kade's arms tightly.

"Always, Mike," Kade said, giving Mr. Morris his most charming, innocent smile.

"And you Isobel?" Mr. Morris cocked one eyebrow at me.

"You know me, Mike," I winked, earning a large guffaw in return.

"I remember a time when you tipped one of me milkshakes all over this lad's head," he laughed, slapping Kade on the back.

I grinned at the memory. "My hand slipped? I can be such a klutz."

Kade shook his head amusedly, giving me the side-eye. It definitely wasn't an accident. I poked my tongue at him cheekily. He deserved it.

"Alright, take a seat now dears, hail me when you're ready to order okay?" Mrs Morris smiled.

I slipped in the booth opposite Sophie and Oliver, as Kade slipped in next to me.

"Wow I can't believe they're still here," I smiled, gazing at the sweet couple bickering lightly at the counters.

"Yeah they're the cutest, aren't they? We come here like once or twice a month." Sophie replied.

"Yeah, they still remember us all well," Oliver chuckled.

I find it kinda crazy that throughout time, some things never change, yet others completely evolve.

I picked up a menu so I could browse over what to order, wondering if there was anything different. I settled on the famous chilli cheese fries. What? I wasn't on a bridal diet. Plus, how could I pass when I haven't been here in so long? Maybe once or twice since high school? I generally came home around the holiday season to spend with family, so there wasn't much time at all to come visit the diner.

"Please stay away from the strawberry thickshakes," Kade whispered lowly over to me.

I held on tightly to the menu as I fought back the shiver threatening to run down my spine at how close he was. I took a deep breath before murmuring; "Mm, you know I can't do that."

I placed the menu down as I finalised my decision and raised my hand to wave at Dot a.k.a Mrs Morris.

I'm going to get the fries, and, a strawberry thickshake. Within a short while, the food and drinks came out looking and smelling as wonderful as it always did.

"Oh my gooodddd," I moaned as I sipped the sweet, milky drink. "It's as good as I remembered!"

Kade's eyes held a twinkle of amusement as his lips curved into a smirk, whilst I continued sipping enthusiastically. "Mmm!"

"If I'm not mistaken, is that what it sounds like when you're coming?"

I choked, covering my mouth, before swallowing down the mouthful of thickshake. I sent him a glare before picking up a fork and stabbing my fries to eat that instead- imagining it was him.

"Kade," Oliver reprimanded, slightly amused.

"Just teasing," he shrugged, leaning back in the seat as he placed an arm on the back of the booth. I grabbed the arm, and unwrapped it from the ledge before placing it back to it's rightful place, beside his body and not around near mine. Sophie chuckled at his antics. This was a regular occurrence for him and I.

Asshole.

I hopped in the shower once we headed back home to Sophie and Oliver's. I really needed to shorten their names. Olphie maybe? I still can't believe they're getting married. Olphie was growing up. We all were.

I stepped out of the shower, wrapping a towel around myself before brushing my teeth to get ready for bed. Once that was done, I proceeded to make my way back to my bedroom quickly.

As I opened the door, I smacked into a firm, bare chest. It was relatively smooth and lightly tanned, sculpted to absolute perfection. Looking up, I froze to see Kade staring at me, biting down on his lip amusedly. I swallowed a lump in my throat as I noticed our skin to skin contact, causing heat to rise all over my body at the touch.

"Didn't take you for an exhibitionist," he smirked, glancing down at my wet naked body covered by a measly towel. "But I'm not complaining about the view."

For some reason, his hot gaze sent an adrenaline rush throughout me. Instinctively, I jumped back and crossed my arms over, pulling the towel tighter around my chest.

His eyebrows shot up.

Oh great. That just made my cleavage pop out.

"Close your eyes!" I screeched, raising one hand up to slam it over his vision.

"Okay, okay, geezus. I was just gonna knock and tell you to get out so I could brush my teeth," he chuckled. "You're the one that bolted out almost naked."

My skin flushed at the thought of being naked around him. I shook my head away from it as I conjured a retort.

"Your existence to me is honestly so minute, I forgot you were even here!"

"Damn Bels, I'm your biggest fan too," he sniggered sarcastically, standing in his spot as my hand covered his eyes.

"Whatever, just stay there." I commanded with as much seriousness in my voice I could project. I released my hand, slowly backing away.

His eyes were still closed, good.

"Don't you dare open them!" I bolted full speed back to my room and slammed the door. I leant against it to calm my racing heart. That was definitely too close. I could hear his loud laughter rumble from the short distance away.

Dammit, I forgot I wasn't the only one staying in this little nook of the house. I was too comfortable having this bathroom to myself. And, I feel like it's not going to be the only totally confronting encounter I'll have with him in the upcoming weeks.

Day one, and I was already a complete mess. This is the sole reason why it's an absolutely terrible idea for him to be here, near me. He stirs something up in me that can't be controlled, something between us that can't be stopped.

I popped on a pair of cotton boy shorts and a tank, before shutting off the lights as I tried to get a good night's rest. I needed to re-energise myself for a full day of wedding tasks tomorrow.

As I drifted asleep however, one last image popped into my subconscious mind.

Kade Johnston Whitley.
