-Cecelia's POV-

I let out a staggered breath once I heard Nick's belt hit the floor signifying that my punishment was over and could almost feel each of the individual licks of fire radiating across my backside as I slumped down to my knees and buried my face in my folded arms on the bed trying to catch my breath.

"Cecelia..." my brother's voice was quiet and pained as he brought a hand to my shoulder in an attempt to get me to face him, I quickly shrugged it away.

"Don't," my instruction was simple.

"Cee..."

I could tell he was trying to reestablish rapport after metaphorically (and quite possibly actually) blistering my ass. A gesture I typically found comforting after a punishment...but today's punishment was not typical. I didn't want to be touched, talked to or comforted...I wanted to be left alone. Not because I was angry, I'd given up on anger about half way through the punishment; it really served me no purpose other than to get me in more trouble anyway. My need for solitude stemmed directly from the fact that I was fairly certain my shorts might actually burst into flame from the heat radiating from my butt; my immediate plan was to remove any articles of clothing causing friction. The sooner he left the better. I raised my head from the bed and wiped away any evidence of tears from my face with the back of my hand. "I'm fine, just get out...please."

Nick let out a ragged sigh before granting me my wish; standing up, collecting his discarded belt from the floor and walking out. Once I heard the click of the door latching closed I quickly hopped up and ran to my bathroom throwing open the linen closet and tossing towels aside until I found what I was searching for...Matt's lovely can of benzocaine. Walking over to the full length mirror on the door I gingerly peeled down my shorts to inspect the damage, the friction immediately reigniting the flames causing me to hiss.

Like a damn tomato...cherry red.

I could literally feel the heat radiating off my ass. Grabbing the can of Benzocaine I liberally sprayed my backside relishing in its immediate fire quenching power.

-Nick's POV-

I walked down the stairs feeling defeated and slumped down to sit on the last couple of steps tossing my belt to the floor.

"Is everything okay?" Cat's small voice penetrated the silence and I brought my eyes to hers.

"No, everything is not okay" I responded bringing my hand up to rub the back of my neck in frustration, "Everything is VERY not okay."

Cat dropped her eyes to the floor looking dejected, "okay..."

I cupped my face in my hands and let out a growl, "This baby..."

"Is screwing everything up for you... I know." Cat's voice was hurt as she lashed out attempting to complete my sentence.

"That's not at all what I was going to say," I corrected, "babies are not an inconvenience or a mistake ...I'm sorry if I made you feel like I felt otherwise...I just needed time to process. I had a lot of time to think last night and I realized that I love you Catherine and I want you to know that...I'm all in." Cat smiled, visibly relieved. "But..."

Cat's shoulders slumped, "I hate when there are buts..."

"Babe...I can't move." I said my voice shaking as I attempted to explain. "When Mom and Dad died Cee became completely apathetic and shut us out, that's when Joe and I decided that we needed to step up and raise her together...to show her that we weren't going anywhere...that she wasn't alone. I promised her I would be here for her. She has the habit of pushing people away when she needs them the most and she has been pushing pretty damn hard lately...I can't leave."

Cat nodded taking a seat next to me on the stairs, "I actually had a lot of time to think about our situation last night as well while I was waiting for CeCe to come back. This isn't exactly how I pictured it would be when I fell in love and had a baby" I sighed taking her hand in mine and giving it a small squeeze. "...and I'm not going to lie, I love the idea of living together in our own place and bringing the baby home to our house...but the more I thought about it the more I realized...it's a baby, it's not going to care where we live, or remember where we brought it home to..."

"What are you saying?"

Cat smiled running her thumb absentmindedly over the top of my hand, "I'm saying...I think I should move in here."

I couldn't contain the ridiculous smile that took over my face, "Really?" Cat nodded.

"Yea, I mean CeCe is only home for a couple more years before she goes off to college, we can always have our own place later down the line."

I shook my head leaning over and stealing a quick kiss, "You are amazing, thank you...wait, what about your house?"

Cat shrugged, "My friend Julie was looking for a place to rent while she finishes out school so I figure this is perfect, plus I can make a little more income which will be nice...I hear babies are expensive." I smiled bringing my lips back to hers in a celebratory kiss.

"Good Morning" Joe chimed as he entered the house, a smile plastered on his face. "What are you two crazy kids up to...besides making out on the stairs."

"Well, well...look who finally made it home," I teased. "I take it from your ridiculous smile that you had a nice night?"

"I did indeed," Joe mused, "How was the sleepover?"

"Oh, there was no sleepover, Cee took off on Cat last night and came home." I watched the smile fade from my big brothers face.

"She WHAT," he spat turning his eyes to Cat, "why didn't you call me?"

Her lip turned white as Cat pulled it through her teeth nervously, "I'm sorry, I know I should have called when she took off but I thought that maybe she just needed to blow off some steam and then she would be back...when she didn't come back by curfew I called her and she told me she was here...I just assumed that you were too but I shouldn't have assumed."

"You definitely should have called when she took off, but this isn't your fault," Joe said running his hands through his hair in frustration. "Cee knows better, she promised me she would behave...where is she?"

"I took care of it," I said standing from the stairs and picking my belt off of the floor. "She is in her room but don't go up there, she isn't in the mood to talk, she kicked me out." Grabbing Cat's hand I pulled her up from the stairs before leading her into the kitchen, Joe directly in tow. "Waffles?" I questioned attempting to change the subject.

Joe squashed the attempt, immediately prodding for more information. "She kicked you out?" He said opening a cabinet and retrieving the waffle iron.

Sighing I grabbed a mixing bowl and waffle mix from the pantry. "I didn't use the chair."

Joe's eyes widened knowingly. "Oh..."

"Unless of course you count the impromptu spanking over my knee," I added causing my brother's jaw to drop in shock.

"Are you serious?"

Nodding I poured the waffle mix into the bowl before adding the required water. "She was acting like a raging brat. Refusing to listen, showing zero remorse...back talking. It wasn't something I planned or ever hope to repeat but it was very effective. It got her to listen."

"What do you mean you didn't use the chair?" Cat questioned looking confused and reminding Joe and I that we had an audience. "Sorry, I didn't mean to eavesdrop on your conversation it's just that I'm not really sure how things are handled around here." Joe gestured for me to explain as he grabbed the bowl and poured two globs of the mixture onto the waffle iron.

"Belt punishments at home are pretty standard, one lick per year of age given leaning over our desk chair, it's the way they have always been done. If the offense is really bad or the offender is showing zero remorse for their actions like CeCelia was today....they are administered over the bed and there is no set number it basically continues as long as it's needed."

"Yea but does the bed hurt more or something?" Cat questioned. "I mean why not just do it over the chair?"

"The angle definitely makes a difference." I confirmed. Joe nodded knowingly. "The licks tend to end up primarily on the underside of the butt and tops of the thighs but it's mostly the number that changes."

Cat crinkled her nose before pulling the first fresh waffle from the iron and pouring new batter in its place. "Yikes."

"It's not exactly a punishment that is handed out very often. I only ever got it once from Dad and that was more than enough to learn my lesson ...Joe on the other hand got them like it was his job."

"Oh whatever," Joe argued, "It was three times besides not all of us can be perfect children."

"Geesh Joseph...slow learner." Cat teased taking a bite of her waffle. "What did you do to get into so much trouble?"

Joe shrugged, "I don't really remember the first two but the last one was by far the worst. I snuck out and went to a party with this girl I was dating at the time and came home stupid drunk."

"Joseph!" Cat feigned shock and disgust before ravaging another bite of her waffle.

"Dad was waiting for me on my bed when I crawled in the window, he smelled the alcohol immediately." Joe continued. "He was super calm, told me to get to bed and that we would discuss it in the morning which at the time I thought was awesome because he would have time to cool down before punishing me but in reality he was just giving me time to work myself into an amazing hangover."

"Ohhhh no."

"Oh yes," Joe said grabbing the newly finished waffle from the iron and tossing it to a plate. "7 am rolls around, my alarm had just gone off for school and I was lying in bed with my head exploding and Dad walks in, belt in hand. He wore my ass out right in front of Nick."

Cat's eyes flew to me as I nodded in confirmation. "We shared a room."

"Oh My..."

"I think the humiliation of having my little brother witness my punishment was just an added bonus for Dad, he wanted to make damn sure I learned my lesson and I did."

"Dad didn't play around, if we had EVER talked to Dad the way CeCe does to us..." I noted shaking my head.

"No joke," Joe agreed taking a bite of his waffle. "That's kind of what Kevin and I were talking about the other day..."

I cocked a brow, "What did you talk about?"

Joe shrugged, "He was just telling me that he thinks we need to set more boundaries for Cee. He thinks she gets away with too much and that her listening skills leave something to be desired."

"So he basically said we suck as care providers? Awesome."

Joe shook his head, "No, not at all it's just...Kevin is a lot like Dad, if he tells the girls to do something, he expects it done. No excuses. No arguments. And if they don't do it they get in trouble, he does not like to repeat himself. How many times have we warned CeCelia about her bad attitude, or language, or the back talk. She KNOWS it's unacceptable yet she continues to do it and we continue to give her warnings half the time."

I couldn't argue, everything Joe said was spot on. "So what are you suggesting?"

"I think we need to stop letting so much slide by giving her warnings." He said, "She is well aware of what is and isn't acceptable behavior. We give her an inch and she will take a mile. Kevin also suggested we start imposing a bedtime on school nights."

"But we have never given her a bedtime..." I argued.

Joe cocked a brow at my child-like response. "Well, maybe it's time that we did. Maybe if she were getting sleep instead of staying up all hours of the night she would be able to get up when her alarm went off in the morning."

I nodded; again, I couldn't argue anything he said. "Okay, fair points well-made and I agree with Kevin she has a serious lack of listening skills , we will discuss the new boundaries with her after breakfast."

Joe nodded in agreement. "There is another topic I'd like to revisit..."

I cocked a brow. "What?"

"Josh" he said simply causing me to immediately shake my head. "I think we need to consider allowing him over here."

I did not want to revisit the topic of Josh, I did not want him to be a topic in my baby sister's life at all in fact the mere mention of his name seemed to make me grumpy. "No."

"Hear me out..." Joe continued dismissing my comment.

"No. It doesn't matter what you say."

Joe let out a frustrated growl. "Look Nick, I get that you don't like him neither do I but regardless of how you feel about him you need to accept the fact that she may already be dating him."

"Joe is right." My traitorous girlfriend replied stealing the waffle from the iron just as I went to retrieve it.

MY waffle.

"I know how girls operate and if you make him off limits she will just sneak around to see him. Besides, allowing him over here gives you control over the situation, you can keep an eye on them. Not to mention, if you plan to impose all these new boundaries on her you need to give her some incentive to follow them, otherwise she has nothing to lose."

"Exactly" Joe agreed jutting his finger toward Cat for emphasis.

I sighed knowing I was defeated, "Fine" I conceded. "The little punk can come here but that's as far as I bend on this issue and that was my waffle you thief!" I accused pointing a fork at Cat.

She shrugged before taking a big bite of the waffle and shooting me a smirk. "Mmmm...delicious"

Evil traitorous woman.

As I poured more batter on the iron Cee entered the kitchen clad now in her flamingo pajama pants, her obvious attitude in tow. Without a word to any of us she grabbed the kit off the counter and quickly tested before slamming the meter to the counter in frustration. When I attempted to see the number she flipped the case closed with a growl and reached for her insulin pen and screwed on a cap. Staring at the pen for a while she struggled with trying to calculate before throwing it down as well in frustration. "I QUIT!" Without a word I grabbed the meter pushing the memory button and bringing up her most recent number.

438 ...Christ on a bike! No wonder she couldn't calculate.

I grabbed the pen and dialed up the amount of units to bring her out of hulk smash mode. "Do you plan to eat breakfast?" I questioned knowing full and well what her answer would be.

No one wants to eat at 438... Kill someone perhaps...but not eat.

Cee shook her head. "Stomach is cramping," she grumbled. "Hate this."

I nodded acknowledging her caveman grunts of discontent before handing her the pen. "It could take a while to come down from that...you might need to take another correction, keep an eye on it." She nodded in understanding administering the bolus just as the front door opened and in walked Kevin.

"Good Morning!" He chimed entering the kitchen with a smile and swiftly stealing the waffle off the iron and taking a bite before reverse blowing and tossing it to the plate on the counter. "s'HOT"

again..MY waffle.

My eyes narrowed into a glare at my oldest brother who cocked a brow at me before dismissing my obvious irritation. "What are your plans for tonight?" Joe and I both shrugged, we never had plans. "Good, How about a cookout? Dani is sort of on a hamburger kick."

Cee groaned, her face distorting at the mention of food.

"What's with the mood?" Kevin asked turning to Cee.

"I don't have a mood." she spat with far more attitude than Kevin allowed. Without warning he grabbed her by the arm and popped her hard on the butt. It was only once but it was enough to immediately snap her out of her mood and bring tears to her eyes.

Kevin. did. not. play

He jutted his pointer toward her in warning, "Watch it."

"Yes Sir." Cee's voice was small as she immediately acknowledged his instruction, when Kevin released her arm her lip jutted out in a pout and she lowered her head either from embarrassment or to try to hide the tear that trailed down her cheek...or both.

That had to have hurt.

Kevin brought his attention back to Joe and I, "Let's say...6?" he questioned before turning to Cee "preferably without the attitude."

I nodded, "Sounds good."

Kevin smiled before grabbing his discarded waffle and heading for the door, "Great, see you tonight."
