I stood leaning against the wall of the shower with the water temperature up to the hottest my body would allow, steam filled the entire bathroom and for the first time in days I felt some relief as the congestion seemed to melt away finally relieving the pounding pressure in my head. After about 20 minutes I heard the alert chime on my phone signaling that I had received a text, reluctantly I shut off the water and reached for my towel, quickly wrapping it around me and drying my hands before reaching for my phone.

"Your brothers made it pretty clear that you were sick and not allowed company." I read the text from Matt and couldn't contain the frustrated growl that emitted from my lips. Why couldn't real life be like Romeo and Juliet? A boy should be willing to risk banishment from the city just to steal one night with me...tragic love story indeed...the tragic part is no one is that romantic anymore.

"Some knight in shining armor you turned out to be." I replied back. Rolling my eyes at my phone, I quickly got dressed before walking through my germ filled bedroom and out into the hallway.

Walking downstairs, I headed towards the kitchen. Unsure of what I wanted, I opened and closed every cabinet before finally spotting something that sparked my interest . . . my lovely Jif jar.

My mouth watered as I spooned a glob into my tongue and relished the taste of the peanuty goodness. My cell phone vibrated in my pocket as I licked the spoon clean. "I don't want to piss off your brothers."

That text earned another eye roll and a scoop of peanut butter before I texted him back. "As opposed to pissing off your girlfriend?"

"Why are guys so stupid?" I asked the kitchen wall not expecting an answer.

"Because we don't know any better." Joe said nearly giving me a heart attack. "I see you're feeling better and you found the peanut butter."

"I took a hot shower and cleared my sinuses, figured I would grab a bite while I was able to taste it, I can't believe you boys hid it from me." I said giving Joe the evil eye.

Joe smirked as he grabbed an apple. "So, why are you in the kitchen talking to the wall, should I be concerned about your mental health?"

Scoffing at his question, I rolled my eyes. "Matt won't be the hero Romeo was and come see me."

"I knew I liked him for a reason. You're sick Cee, you don't need to be infecting anyone else. Do you really want to get him sick?" Joe raised a valid point.

Putting another spoonful in my mouth, I quickly swallowed before looking at Joe. "We could be sick together. It would be tragically romantic."

"No boys until you're officially done being sick. Take it up with your body, not me." Grabbing the peanut butter away from me, Joe smirked before leaving me alone to talk to talk to the walls.
