A/N: As usual, I would recommend to put the video on loop.

Several hours had passed, and the group of them was crowded in by pine trees on both sides of the stream. The pixie scouts dropped their packs at the base of one of the trees before they helped her seat Tarhuinn. They merely dipped their heads before flying off and leaving the two of them. She figured that they had several more hours before reaching the cabin or at least coming close to it.

Thankfully, this time around Will wouldn't be there unless he broke his promise and turned on the pixies. If such a thing happened, she wouldn't be surprised. It would just mean that she would have both a cannibalistic and sadistic mage on her tail as well as an army of pixies if they survived Will's attack. Hopefully, things would go accordingly.

To give her legs a rest and to receive some warmth, she sat down beside Tarhuinn after she had cleared away the snow from the spot. She wrapped her cloak tight around her and moved her feet out of the water. Unfortunately, the thick amount of pine trees prevented her from walking on drier ground. (F/n) leaned her head against his left shoulder and reached into his one pocket. Pulling out her wedding ring, she slipped it back onto her proper finger. During their walk here, she had felt the metal hit her in the side lightly on a few occasions.

As he remained asleep, she grabbed her pack and searched through it. Luckily, she had spare undergarments tucked away as well as one last pair of clothing. There was also the fact that they were dry. Looking to Tarhuinn, she saw that he still appeared in a deep sleep, so she got back to her feet. When they returned home, however, she would need to invest in some new boots.

Doing a double check, she saw that he was still sleeping. Swiftly, she went to work and removed her cloak before she placed it on him for the time being. The underclothes and dress corset from Will had dried some, but the fabric was still far too thin for her liking. She slipped out of them and tossed them aside for the moment as she dressed herself in her own dry and better covering ones. (F/n) proceeded to throw on a loose grey shirt and some blue pants.

With the decent coverage on, she seated herself once more and wringed her cloak out of some of the water. Regarding the other undergarments, she did the same. She would hold onto them until they had a fire. From there, she would proceed to burn the wretched things.

Bringing her knees up to her chest, she managed to get her feet out of the water again, but her attention focused on Tarhuinn. She hoped that he would wake soon, yet, at the same time, she didn't want him to. His reaction to seeing her might be to run back to the pixie camp and murder the mage that was there. That fact alone made her nervous. How was she to hold him back? He was over a head taller than her. Not to mention that he was also more skilled with a blade. (F/n) didn't even have the dagger anymore.

Trying to not go down the endless pit of possible negative outcomes, she moved closer to him and examined him for the wounds that the pixie queen had mentioned. His clothes were torn up, and his cloak was missing. She managed to push him forward a bit. Tarhuinn's back had multiple cuts all along it that were healing. (F/n) set him back against the tree and looked over the ones on his arms and shoulder as well. Thankfully, it seemed like the pixies had tended to all of them, but it hurt to know that he had suffered them all to get to her. Honestly, he was far too overprotective.

That brought a small smile to her lips, though. With Will alive and waiting for her return, she wouldn't want anyone else by her side. If she could find another mage, that might be useful, but she felt that Tarhuinn had a fair shot at killing Will. Besides, she would stab the man in the back the moment that she received the opportunity. He deserved no mercy from her. His only hope was that the pixies needed him presently, and she had needed to get on the pixies' good graces.

Delicately, she pushed back some strands of his hair from his face. His hair was rather disorderly, and she noted that his hair tie was nowhere in sight. While she waited for him to get up, she brought forward some of his strands and started to comb through them with her fingers. Whenever a knot came across her fingers, she did her best to get rid of it without tugging too harshly.

The main trouble, though, was keeping herself from falling asleep. She had stayed up throughout the entire evening, and her body was recovering from Will's treatment of her. When she had been changing, she had already noted several bruises forming on her.

Her arms fell slightly as exhaustion started to consume her more. She needed to stay awake, though. If she fell asleep, she could easily picture Tarhuinn taking off to settle things with Will. Hearing her stomach growl, she reached over to their packs and grabbed a dried apricot to chew on for a bit.

Facing him again, she saw him shift before his eyes began to open. His brows furrowed as he blinked a few times. A puzzled expression greeted his countenance before he sat up suddenly. In an instant, arms wrapped around her, and she was brought into a tight hug. The piece of fruit fell from her hands and onto his lap. Heat graced her cheeks as she felt him nuzzle his face into the right side of her neck. He said something, but it was muffled by her skin.

Before she could return the hug, he pulled away and looked her over. His dark blue eyes fell upon the small cut on her chest while a low growl exited his lips. "What else did this man do to you? And, where are we?" he asked, looking around quickly.

(F/n) picked up the piece of fruit and stared at it as if to avoid his harsh gaze. She was happy to see him awake, but she now had to face the clear fury that was bubbling up in his eyes. "It's not important, Tarhuinn," she muttered before she met his eyes once more. It seemed like he was about to argue. So, she stuck the piece of fruit into his mouth.

Taking his hands in hers, she squeezed them lightly. "Nothing of that nature occurred between us. I made sure that he didn't touch me there." A bit more heat consumed her cheeks. "That's only for you. Please let's just continue on our journey and forget about him for the time being. He's no longer our concern." That was a slight lie, but she needed to calm him down before he did something rash.

Breaking her hold on him, he finished the fruit in two quick bites. He picked himself up to his feet and glanced down at her. "He is my concern. He harmed you, and he'll pay the price for that. Besides, how can I trust your words? You broke our agreement when not even a full day passed. That was a mistake. Instead of coming back and apologizing, you went ahead and put yourself in harm's way. You may want to take this journey to extend your life and our future family's time together, but your need to prove that you can handle things on your own is taking things too far.

"It's as if you were hoping for the pixies to give you some bizarre task so that you could go off on your own. You thankfully came back in one piece to me, but the odds of that were incredibly low. I heard the reports coming in. I heard the pixies say that he had you cornered last night and that you would most likely die after he had his way with you, yet you try to hide that from me. Is that so you can seem stronger before my eyes? If anything, it demonstrates to me that you still have little faith in me."

Reaching around her, he snatched up her pack and opened it. He pulled out the undergarments and corseted top before he dropped her pack. "The pixies also mentioned that you were in revealing clothes. You thought to change and hide them from me as well. This man clearly did horrible things to you, yet you say that he's none of our concern?!" Enraged, he tore the clothing to shreds before he dropped the pieces into the stream. "Fortunately, you somehow managed to convince him to stop. Just what agreement did you make with him?"

"I simply told him that I would bring him back some serum of eternal life. We don't know if it exists, but it got him to agree to help the pixies."

"Then, he's even more of a concern to us. A man like that will make sure that you uphold such a bargain." He turned on his heel and combed his fingers through his hair. "You'll stay here. I'm going to go deal with him." Before he could take another step, (f/n) picked herself up to her feet and grabbed his left wrist.

"No, I'm not going to let you make a foolish decision. I told you to calm down with the pixies, and you didn't. Look where that led us. This time, please listen to me."

Peering over his left shoulder and down at her, he raised an eyebrow while a scowl graced his lips. "Why are you protecting him? Let me kill him. Or, are you hiding something else from me? You probably are given how you broke our agreement like it meant nothing." Hurt, her grip loosened, and Tarhuinn moved away from her. "Stay here, and I'll be back. When I return, I expect you to follow my word for the rest of this journey."

He didn't understand. This is why she had tried to hide the other pieces from him because she understood that he would react this way. Why couldn't he grasp that the sickening task which the pixies had given her was the only option to continue forward. She went through absolute fear to fulfill that agreement. There were instances where she nearly gave up her fight for a longer life, yet, in the end, she had persuaded Will; she had seemingly done the impossible, and he was about to jeopardize that. (F/n) was happy to see him, but it was painful to receive such an unkind greeting from him. Not being able to restrain her conflicting emotions, she pulled back on his arm. The moment that he had glanced back at her, she raised her right hand and slapped him.
