"JUST GO IN THERE and tell him you're sorry," I said, pacing in front of the sidewalk, "simple as that."

There was nothing simple about it, and I knew I wasn't going to be able to trick my mind into believing it. I felt like I was crawling with nervousness. I had been standing outside of the theater for what felt like half-an-hour, yet I still couldn't gather up the confidence to go in.

The dress rehearsal wasn't over yet, so I still had some time, but I didn't trust myself to stay if I gave myself the option. Millie told me he'd understand.

I just wanted Louis to tell me that for himself.

"Get it together," I mumbled to myself, "he's not going to hate you."

But what if he did?

I made him cry. These freaking misunderstandings were the absolute worst, and I didn't realize it. From what I knew, he lied to me and called me a mess, so I ended things. From what he knew, I broke up with him, and he couldn't do anything about it. He signed an NDA, which he thought was more secretive than it was.

Sigh.

"Suck it up, [y/n]," I scolded myself, beginning to climb up the steps.

Here's what I needed to do: swing open the doors, grab Louis by the hand, and give him my speech (which I didn't really have planned out, but I'd have to wing it). In the end he'd have to listen, right–

"WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN?"

I had barely walked inside the theater, when Freddie came fuming up to me. He didn't look mad, he just looked angry. At me. For some unknown reason.

"I'm sorry," I said flusteredly, "what?"

He shook his head, his eyes tinted with disappointment, "you left in the middle of the show, and had us all worried."

What? It had barely been an hour since I left, and yet everything seemed to be going to pot. Actors were pacing the stage in worry, techies were yelling at each other through thier mics, and Freddie was, well on the verge of killing me.

"I wasn't feeling well," I explained, taking a step back in caution, "Sadie said she'd cover for me."

Freddie let out an exhale, "well, Sadie couldn't tell me, because she's too busy trying to figure out the second problem!"

"There's a second problem?"

"Romeo is gone."

"What?"

"Louis quit during lunch break, left without telling anyone, and the understudy isn't fully prepped to go on tomorrow!"

That hit me like a brick to the face. Or maybe a baseball bat to the face. Whatever hurt worse was what it most felt like.

"Fix this," Freddie sighed, pointing his clipboard at me and storming off.

I was frozen to my spot, trying to figure everything out. Barely an hour ago, everything was fine. I left, got followed by Millie, spoke to Millie, left to find Louis, and now...Louis was gone, and the whole theater was in chaos.

I wasn't sure what to do, but someone tapped my shoulder lightly and spun me around. It was Nora.

"He's gone," she sighed, rubbing her eyes.

She was clearly tired, and I didn't blame her. She'd been rehearsing for hours, and now had the stress of a cancelled show hanging over her head.

"I know," I said, biting my lip, "I don't know what to do."

"He knew what to do," she said, "he told me his whole plan before he left."

"He did?"

"When we went on lunch break, he came up to me and was rambling on and on about something," the girl explained, "he said the only reason he auditioned was because you wanted him to."

I blinked, "he told you that?"

"Yeah, and then he said something about quitting because he wanted to show you he wasn't like Keith."

Damn it.

Louis didn't know Millie came to see me, so he didn't know I understood the truth. He thought I was still mad at him. He thought I still compared him to Keith. He thought I didn't care. Well, he was wrong.

"Screw Keith!" I hissed, stomping my foot on the ground in anger.

Nora looked taken aback, "I don't know who that is, but screw him!"

I knew Louis was the best thing to happen to me. Mistakes were made, and things got messed up, but the one thing I absolutely was sure of, was that Louis was not Keith. He was loving, kind, sweet, talented, and he would never hurt me on purpose.

Keith was nothing compared to him.

"This is a nightmare," I mumbled, beginning to pace, "do you know where Louis went?"

She shook her head, "no one knows."

The show was tomorrow. Louis was supposed to be Romeo, get a standing ovation, and take the last bow. But he quit, and no one knew where the hell he went.

I had to fix this. I had to.

I just had to find him first.
