The next day at school, I stand at my locker thinking about Ms Pool and Kyle. The stories going around the schools aren't just gossip — they're fact. Not only that, but Kyle has been sitting by and listening to the stories about her fly around the school like clockwork. He hasn't said anything or reacted to the stories oddly or even flinched whenever her name comes up. The names everyone calls her doesn't seem to have any affect on him at all.

"Hey" Thomas greets, making me flinch. "Hey, it's just me"

I nod, meeting his gaze.

"I know, you just scared me that all" I admit.

"Where were you just now? You looked like you were a million miles away" Thomas' eyes fill with concern.

I force a smile.

"I was just thinking, that's all" I shrug, closing my locker door.

Thomas and I walk down the hall, towards our friends who are gathered around Tommy's locker.

"Don't think too hard, you might hurt yourself" he teases.

"Ha ha" I say sarcastically as we join our friends.

"So we're all going?" Laura folds her arms.

"Going where?" Thomas asks.

"The school is throwing their annual Dance Marathon on Saturday" Ely informs us both. "Laura likes to bully us into attending every year"

A dance marathon? That's something that I wouldn't mind skipping.

"How did you get locked into the storage room yesterday?" Tommy looks at me.

I then find kyle glaring at me suspiciously, causing me to gulp. God, he knows that I know. No, he couldn't. How could he?

"Thanks for reminding me" Laura snap her fingers, "what are we dissecting?"

"What?" I stutter.

"Oh God" laura gasps, "you did find out what we're dissecting, didn't you?"

My heart begins to race fearfully, while Kyle folds his arms.

"Uh, yeah, of course" I nod, "we're dissecting a fetal pig"

"You're kidding," Thomas says with a disgusted expression.

"Eww" Tommy cries.

"So what did you do in the storage room?" Kyle questions.

My heart falls to my stomach.

"Panicked mostly" I gulp, his eyes looking into my soul while he clenches his jaw.

"I'm going to puke" Laura announces, her face flushes red.

"So the dance marathon is this weekend" Ely brings back up.

"Yeah and we're all going" Laura orders, glaring at each of us individually.

"What about Willow? What if she's still sick?" Tommy points out.

"She won't be" Laura declares.

"How do you know?" Tommy furrows his brows.

"Believe me, she won't be" she raises her voice.

I wonder how does this dance thing work anyway? Do we all have to find dates or something?

"Are we all bring dates?" I question.

"That's funny" Laura laughs.

"Hey, we could have dates" Tommy snaps at Laura.

"Ha ha no," she says flatly, "I could have a date, Emma could have a date, Jacob could possibly have a date, hell even Willow could convince some poor bastard to dance with her for fourteen hours straight...but the rest of you-"

"Did you say fourteen hours?" I interrupt.

"We are more than capable of finding ourselves a date," Ely shakes his head.

"Who are you going to bring? The three of you have slept with everybody in this school" Laura cries. "I'm surprised none of you has banged Ms Pool"

I gulp, attempting to avoid eye contact with Kyle which he notices immediately. God, as soon as he finds out that I know, I'm a dead duck.

"Okay, Laura than what do you say we do?" Tommy folds his toned arms.

Isla, don't check out he's arms.

"What we do every year" she rolls her eyes. "Bring each other"

"Wait as in-" I start.

They all go with each other instead of dates?

"Laura and I are usually together" Tommy informs.

"Kyle and willow were dating so they usually went together" Laura continues.

"Well not any more" Thomas mutters under his breath.

I shoot Thomas a what the hell look.

"Than I manage to find someone" Ely finishes.

Which isn't difficult when you look like that.

"So this year since there's more of us" Laura starts just as the bell rings, "its gonna be a lot more fun...we'll discuss this further at lunch time"

Then they all go seperate ways, leaving me alone with Kyle who stands across from me with folded arms. Oh crap, he's going to threaten me or something. I narrow my eyes at Thomas who walks down the hallway.

Help.

"So Emma" Kyle takes a step towards me, "can we talk for a second?"

"We're talking now aren't we?" I start as I lean my back against the lockers, with Kyle in front of me.

I suddenly feel nauseous. I feel my hands begin shaking in fear.

"Don't be cute" he raises a brow, leaning towards me, his lips close to mine. "I know you know... After all, you were there" he almost whispers.

I gulp, glaring at his lips that sat so close to mine.

"Look, I'm not going to say anything to anybody about what I saw," I assure in a hushed tone, my heart pounding harder.

"And what exactly did you see?" He lowers his voice, his mouth an inch away from my left ear.

"Nothing" I stutter.

He moved his head away from mine.

"Good" Kyle turns around and disappears down the hall.

I sigh.

So that's what being threatened by Kyle feels like. He has a knack for witness intimidation — I wonder where he learnt that trick from?

What have I gotten myself into?
