"Remember, tomorrow you all have a test" Mrs Martin informs while Tommy and I walk out of Modern History.

"I'm so mad at Elijah," Tommy announces over dramatically.

"How come?" I question.

"I don't want to talk about it" he shakes his head.

"Okay" I nod just as Ely comes up from behind us, wearing denim jeans and a closed letterman jacket.

"Hello-" Ely greets making Tommy scrunch up his face and storm off. "Tommy" he calls before chuckling.

"What was that about?" I question with a smirk.

"I told him that Freaks and Geeks aren't as good as he thinks it is" Ely admits. "So what's going on with you?"

I laugh. I haven't seen Freaks and Geeks, but wasn't it cancelled after a season or something?

"My bio assignment is killing me," I tell him "along with calculus"

Why I chose hard subjects in my senior year is beyond me. Mistakes were made.

"I would offer you some assistance if I wasn't struggling myself" Ely admits. "But you know who is good at pretty much everything?"

"Laura?" I assume.

She is an A straight student or something, after all.

"Kyle" he corrects with a small smile.

"Really?" My eyes widen.

"Don't sound so surprise" Ely teases.

"He doesn't strike me as..." I start.

How do I put this without being insulting?

"Bright? Intelligent? Capable of doing simple math equations?" Ely finishes.

"Someone who cares about his education" I finally find the words.

"Oh no, he doesn't," Ely assures, "he has always been intelligent but chooses not to put in the time...but I can guarantee that he cares a lot more than he used to"

"So what changed?" I ask curiously.

"His dad" Ely informs me, "the guy is never around...Kyle see's him a few times a year...a couple of years ago, Kyle decided that he was sick of waiting so he got his grades up so he is able to go to college"

That's a nice sentiment.

"Where's he applied to?" I ask.

"I don't know the exact colleges but I know that they're all in New York" Ely informs.

"God I love New York," I tell him.

New York was my hometown before all this went down. That's where my brother and daughter live. God what I'd give to get back there.

"What about you? Where would you like to be attending?" Ely raises a brow at me.

"Well I wanted to go to Oxford but my dad says it too far away and so he won't allow it" I look down at my shoes "So I guess I'm applying local"

I'm not allowed to leave the state as long as I'm in the witness protection program. I would give so much to go back to New York to see my family, or even go to Oxford.

"There are some good local colleges" Ely tries to make me feel better.

"Such as?" I raise a brow in disbelief.

"Such as...." He thinks for a moment "uh the University of San Francisco"

"Uh yes" I nod as chuckling "what about everybody else? What is their dream college?"

It would be nice to know someone whose also going local. I doubt any of my friends are, but it's some thing to hope for.

"Laura's going to Harvard," Ely tells me.

Harvard university. God that's big. That's one of the best and hardest ivy league schools to get into, along with Princeton, Yale, Cambridge, and Oxford.

"An Ivy league school, Wow" I widen my eyes.

"I mean she hasn't be accepted yet but she will," he tells me with certainty "Tommy's going local to stay close to his family, and Willow will go local if she decides to go at all"

Well let's hope I end up at the same school as them then. That is if I don't get relocated by then. God if I get relocated once more I'll be separated from Hank and Thomas. I'll never see them again. That's why he can't let that happen.

"And you?" I glance at Ely.

"Harvard" he nods.

Harvard as well? Wow so three of us have dreams of attending Ivy League schools. Maybe I did fall into the right clique at this school afterall.

"Wow, really?" I raise both brows in surprise.

"There you go sounding surprised again Miss Fitzgerald" He smirks.

"Sorry...what I meant was...its an ivy league school and so...Jesus..I-" I stutter.

"You are cute when you squirm" He chuckles "has anyone ever told you that?"

"Liam is going to be back any second" I warned.

"I know," he said as taking a step towards me.

"Get away from me Thomas, or I swear to god I'll scream"

"You're cute when you squirm" Thomas smirks evilly.

"Get away from me" I ordered with fear in my voice.

"I'm not the devil Isla...I'm not going to hurt you"

"Yeah" I nod as we enter the cafeteria "a long time ago"

Our friend sit around our usual table, with Laura standing in excitement.

"Shut up" Laura claps her hands together whilst laughing. "Ms Pool is a freak"

"What did Ms Pool do now?" Ely questions, making Tommy stand up and storm off.

Now Tommy's being dramatic.

"What's his problem?" Willow glances at Ely.

"The Freaks and Geeks argument" Laura informs as Ely and I take a seat, across from Willow and Laura.

"Is that still going on?" Willow furrowed her brows.

Still going? Damn when did this start?

"Unfortunately" Ely informs.

"Anyway" Laura starts "you wouldn't believe what happened in English Lit"

"What happened?" I smirk.

Obviously something about Ms Pool.

"Ms Pool was flirting with a student once again" She informs.

Again?

"What else is new?" Thomas points out as he and Kyle arrive, all sweaty from gym class.

I can't help but stare at the sweaty boys. Isla stop staring at your brother and your new friend. Pay attention to the god damn story. Suddenly Thomas makes eye contact with me and smirks. I immediately redirect my gaze at Laura as my cheeks burn slightly.

"No that's not the best part" Laura's smile brightens "its somebody we all know"

"Who?" I force myself to ask.

"Let me give you a hint" she teases "this person, is sitting amongst us"

I furrowed my brows before moving my gaze around the table. It better not be Thomas. My eyes wander to Kyle who looks nervous. Perhaps him?

"Laura we do not enjoy being teased" Ely starts "you know that"

"That's what makes it fun" she laughs.

Suddenly, Tommy returns with a frown, forcing Ely jump up.

"Tommy-" Ely starts.

Here we go.

"Emma, will you inform a certain somebody that I am no longer speaking to them," Tommy lowers his voice before taking a seat beside me.

"Grow up, will ya" Willow snaps at Tommy.

"Tommy" Laura starts "Ms Pool was flirting with a student again"

"I know I was there remember" Tommy rolls his eyes, placing his hand against the side of his face, to block Ely from his view.

"This person is sitting with us" she repeats.

"Just get on with it" Kyle rolls his eyes.

"Now I was shaking-" Laura goes on.

"Laura" Ely rolls his eyes. "Just tell us"

"Alright alright," she laughs "Ms Pool was flirting with no other than our good friend Willow O'Donnell!"

"What!" We all cry simultaneously.

"Is this true?" I look at Willow with wide eyes.

"Yes," Willow rolls her eyes.

"Hold up!" I cry "Ms Pool is-"

"Bisexual" Laura smiles excitedly.

"So not only is Ms Pool into underage boys but she is also into underage girls" Tommy explains.

Damn that makes her sound like a huge pedo. She should be locked up behind bars, how is she not?

"How is she not in jail?" I question.

"Because she's a compulsive liar" Ely informs.

"And the idiots that she sleeps with are willing to lie for her" Willow adds.

"Where can I get her phone number?" Thomas smirks.

I face palm.

"Jacob!" Laura furrowed her brows, causing me to chuckle slightly.

"Kidding kidding" Thomas laughs.

"You're in a good mood" I glance over at Thomas curiously.

"He should be" Kyle starts "he got an A for our Chem assignment"

"Is that so?" I fold my arms.

At every school we've been to, Thomas' grades have consisted of C's. Not only is his A an achievement, It's also out of character.

"Well I don't like to brag-" Thomas starts.

"Bullshit, you wouldn't stop gloating throughout gym" Kyle chuckles.

Of course, that doesn't surprise me at all.

"Well, I'm glad you're doing well," I tell him. "Dad will be happy"

"Nah I think he'll be more impressed with an A for history" Thomas smirks.

I smile.

"So what are we going to do about the whole Ms Pool thing?" Laura revisits that topic.

"I can bang her," Tommy says.

"How will that solve anything?" She rolls her eyes.

Tommy blinks. "Solve what?" He says completely oblivious.

I hold back a chuckle. How could Thomas possibly hate Tommy?

"I wonder who she's currently sleeping with" Ely ponders.

"Probably some slutty cheerleader or sleazy jog," Willow says.

"I'm going to get a soda" Kyle stands up, looking uncomfortable with the topic of discussion.

I watch him disappear into the distance.

"Someone from the school paper should do an article on her" I suggest. "That'll get her fired"

"She's probably fucking the editor," Willow points out.

We all laugh.
