I felt the rays of the sun burning against my bare skin as I opened my eyes. I turned my gaze to the left and my arm that was once wrapped against Ev's small figure rested in the empty left side of the bed. Throwing my body off of the bed, I walked over to the bathroom and it was also empty. She must be downstairs, I checked the time and it was way too early for everyone else to be awake so she must be alone.

Last night, after Stensby and Kelsea arrived I noticed that she was distracted. She talked and listened but sometimes it looked like she wasn't even there at all. I wanted to ask because I know her well enough to know that there was something wrong, but against my curiosity, I withheld from asking. Aside from the fact that I didn't want to pry and give her the chance to tell me when she was ready, we've been working on building back our trust in each other. And even though it's been a slow process, I needed to trust that she would tell me, the bad or the good.

Before heading downstairs to check up on Ev, I put on my BGU Swimming hoodie along with a pair of grey sweatpants. When I walked out of our room, the smell of fresh coffee hit me just like it does every morning when I stay at Ev's place. Her caffeine addiction was something else. She drinks more than four cups of coffee on a daily.

The sun was shining bright outside and with a cup of coffee in her hand, Ev was sitting in one of the lounge chairs in the small boardwalk outside the house. A smile instantly curved into my lips as I spotted her. With messy morning hair and one of my t-shirts on, she looked just as beautiful. I still remember the day I saw her in Emerson's class with her unicorn pajama pants, she was a wreck that day but just as beautiful. How lucky am I that I had the chance to cross paths with her in this lifetime?

I walked up to her and I wrapped my arms around her from behind, planting a kiss on her right cheek. Her lips curved into a smile. "Good morning preciosa,"

"I love it when you talk to me in Spanish, those classes are coming more in handy than I thought." Ev says making me laugh. "Buenos días, hermoso."

She stands up, letting me sit in the chair, so she could sit on my lap. "How did you wake up today? Did the five tequila shots you took last night do any damage?"

"What do you think?" I laugh. Another reason as to why I don't drink. Waking up with a pounding headache the next day? No thanks. I'll pass. "This is my third cup of coffee and it's only eight am."

"You shouldn't have played tequila pong with Stensby, I warned you," I tell her and she rolls her eyes. Last night Stensby challenged Ev to a game of tequila pong and of course, she wasn't going to turn down a challenge. Stensby would've annoyed Ev to no end if she hadn't accepted. "Babe, I know. But I won in the end, so the hangover I have in this fine morning was worth it."

"Of course," I reply. "Did you have something to eat already?"

Ev shakes her head. "The girls and I are on kitchen duty, remember? I'm waiting for the girls to come downstairs. Peyton and Kelsea are getting dressed, they texted me that they were up just before you got here."

"Ah yes, I do remember," I say. Putting the girls on kitchen duty was Dant's idea, but to be honest, I think going out for breakfast would be much better. I have to admit that I have enough trust in the girl's cooking skills.

Before Ev and I could continue with our conversation, we got interrupted by Peyton's voice. "Hey love birds, I hate to spoil the fun but we have to get started with kitchen duty. Also, Connery, Emma's on the phone."

"Go ahead and talk with Emma, we'll get started on breakfast." I nod and Ev pecks me on the lips before she gets up. Peyton hands me my phone and then she walks off with Ev.

I put the phone to my ear and I greet Emma. "Hey sis, what's up?"

"Hey, nothing, I'm just here at the office," Emma replies. "Did I call a little too early? I still haven't gotten used to the different time zones."

"You did, but I was already awake. It's all good, don't worry." I reassure her. "What time is it over there?"

"It's around two in the afternoon as of now," Emma replies. "Peyton told me you were in a lake house for the weekend, that's nice. I'm glad you're allowing yourself to have fun and not be training every single day."

"Yeah we are, the case has been getting to Ev so we decided to get her out of Bowling so she could take her mind off of it even if was just for the weekend." I pause. "And you're one to talk sis, you're buried in work every single day."

"I can only imagine, it must be rough, I read about what happened to one of the girls. It's devastating." Emma says. "I won't deny it, I do bury myself in work on most days. That's one of the reasons why I wanted to call you. Aside from the fact that I did want to know how you were doing."

"It is, ever since Macy was admitted to the hospital, Ev hadn't stepped away from the chair beside her," I tell Emma. "And I had a feeling there were ulterior motives behind your early morning call."

"There aren't any ulterior motives behind my early morning call, I just wanted to know and tell you that I'm taking a few weeks off and I'm flying to Bowling tomorrow morning," Emma says. I have to say that I was expecting anything but that.

Ever since my dad visited me at the house, I did ask her about it but she refused to talk about the subject until we could talk about it in person. This leads me to believe that we would be touching the subject when she got here and to be honest, it was something I didn't want to talk about anymore. "Oh really? I thought you weren't coming back until Christmas."

"Those were the plans, but mom needs us both to be there for her during the trial. You know how hard it has been for her these past few weeks." Emma says.

She's right. The grand jury was enough proof that needed support. Knowing that what you have been living for the past years was a lie is motive enough to destroy someone. Just like it was for Emma and me, she felt like she was losing dad all over again. "I know, it's good to know that you'll be here sis."

"It is, I've missed you guys ever since I've been over here working. I'm excited to see you guys again." Emma says. "I also wanted to take you out for lunch or dinner. I know you're a little busy, but I'm sure you can make time for me on your schedule."

"I'm free on Monday before practice and I know the perfect place. Ev took me to this Columbian food truck, it's called Alejandro's. You're going to love it." I tell Emma.

"It's a date then," Emma replies. "I have to go no, duty, unfortunately, is calling. But before I hang up tell Ev I said hi. I'll see you on Monday."

"I will, bye Emma!" And with that, I hung up.

After I hung up the phone, I walked inside to the smell of eggs and bacon. The guys were already awake and were sitting on the couch while the girls finished cooking the rest of the bacon. I have to say that I did underestimate them, it was a simple meal but good nonetheless. While we had breakfast we turned on ESPN and watched last night's highlights. The road to the finals started last night with OHSU against LSU. It was a close match-up, but OHSU got away with the win. I wasn't surprised though. The critics have said it and I was sure of it. We would have a repeat of last year's finals with the only difference being that we were the ones who were going to take home the gold.

When we all ate breakfast and cleaned up the kitchen, we headed to our separate rooms to change into our swimsuits. The day ahead consisted of boat rides, wakeboarding on the lake, and a lot of food. Once we had the cooler filled with drinks and the snacks on board, we drove off.

"That's not funny Matthew Connery," A very annoyed Ev climbed onto the back of the boat as we all laughed. Dant was purposely taking unexpected turns while Ev was on the board which made her fall almost every time.

"Baby girl, I'm so sorry. I just can't help it, your face, it's just the funniest thing. Every time you fell, your face was just priceless." I tell Ev as she stands next to me.

Ev began to fake laugh. "It was, wasn't it? I'm glad you think so though." Ev pushes me trying to throw me in the water but just before I fell I grabbed onto her, pulling her into the water with me. We both fall into the water and within seconds we were back on the surface.

"You couldn't just let me have the one thing?" Ev asks and I shake my head laughing. "Don't worry, I'll get you back. We'll see who's going on to round six tonight because it for sure won't be us."

My jaw instantly drops and Ev evilly grins as she climbs back onto the back of the boat. When I climbed back up, Peyton instantly begins to tease me. "Connery, you should've just let her throw you into the water. But you couldn't let her win couldn't you?"

Everyone chimed in laughing as well and I just rolled my eyes. Round six? Fuck, I should've just let her win, at least this once. After Ev was done wakeboarding, Dant decided to go next which meant that Ev was going for a little payback after what he put her through.

Dant climbed onto the board and gave us the signal when he was ready to go. I was the one driving the boat but since I was trying to make amends with Ev, I let her drive and take control. Ev sped up the boat and waited for the perfect moment to take a sharp turn, when Dant was least expecting it she took the sharp turn which sent him flying off the board. When a very annoyed Dant came back to the surface Ev started laughing. "Payback's a little bitch isn't it Ross?"

We spent the rest of the day wakeboarding, tubing, drinking, and eating most if not all the snacks we brought on the boat with us. Ev had a lot of fun, she laughed for a good deal of the time we were on the boat. It was something that during this past week I hadn't had the chance to hear, her contagious and beautiful laugh. It would probably fade away once we got back to Bowling because right now, it felt like we were living in a little bubble of never-ending happiness, and soon we were going back to our reality. But to me, all that mattered was for her to be happy even if meant it was only for this weekend.

When we got back to the house, we all showered and changed out of our wet clothes. We were all supposed to go out for dinner and drinks tonight but Ev wanted to stay back at the house. So instead of going out with everyone else, we stayed behind and ate the frozen pizzas that we brought along for the trip. Currently, we were cuddled up in our room watching Cruel Intentions, Ev was very much invested in the movie but I had other plans.

I lifted my hand from her waist and I placed it on her thigh. I began to gently rub up and down trying to grab her attention. And it worked. "Babe, stop. I'm trying to watch the movie, it's in the best part."

I smiled as I ignored her pleads, pulling her closer to me. She smiles back, nuzzling her head into my neck. I begin to plant kisses all over her neck making her grip my waist even tighter. Ev then begins to suck, bite, and lick my neck making me let out a small moan. She lifts her body up from the bed and straddles me with her lips attached to my neck. "I thought you wanted to watch the movie," I smirk.

"You can't tease me and expect me to do nothing about it," Ev smirks. "Baby, I'm just finishing what you started." Fuck.

I slid my hands up her hoodie and I take it off. Ev passionately crashes her lips into mine and her hands made their way up my shirt as well taking it off. I took her sweatpants off as she did with mine. By now we were in our underwear, I moved us both so I could be on top of her. She put her legs on my sides, grinding my lower body between her legs. I ran my hands down her stomach making her suck in a breathe. I smirked my lips against hers knowing it was giving her pleasure.

When my fingers reached my desired target, I tucked my fingers into the waistband of her lace red panties, trailing along the top making a small moan escape Ev's lips. I broke the kiss and I trailed kisses down to her collarbone leaving a love bite in the process as I slid my hand across her lace-covered center, moving my fingers in circles.

Soft moans escaped Ev's lips as she dug her hands into my hair. "Baby girl, you want more don't you?" I asked but I knew the response by the way she tugged onto my hair harder with each passing second.

I moved the lace fabric of her panties to the side as I slid my middle finger inside of her making her moan the loudest she had moaned yet. I lightly bit down her neck. "Fuck! Ev, baby girl, you're so fucking tight!"

As she pushed her hips against my hand I slid in another finger. I pumped my fingers, slowly but surely making contact with her clit. Ev began to whimper and a smirk curved on my lips as I kissed her neck. I picked up my pace and the whimpers grew louder. "Holy fuck, you're fucking amazing!"

I was hungry for her. With every whimper and moan, I became hard faster. My lips left her neck and they trailed down her chest to her stomach as I slid my fingers out of her, removing her panties in the process. Kissing her thighs my lips make a stop and I stick my tongue in her clit licking her clean. "Baby, I need you. I need you now."

Ev pleaded as I took off my underwear and quickly slid a condom on. "I'm ready for you baby girl." I carefully thrust into her making sure not to hurt her in the process.
