It was finally time to present our project. I had assumed that I'd be doing it solo because of how often Charlie Gray was ill but to my surprise she showed up to class, on time might I add.

"Well hello there" She grinned, sitting in the open seat across from me.

"I didn't expect to see you"

"I'm glad I keep shattering your expectations"

We didn't get to talk after that since Mr.Robert's finally showed up and presentations started. When it was our turn, Charlie Gray refused to present from her seat and instead stood at my side at the front of the class occasionally leaning on me slightly when she got too tired to stand on her own.

Since we were the last to present, Mr.Roberts dismissed class and I sat quietly and waited until Charlie Gray had got her strength back before helping her out to the parking lot.

"Did your mom drive you?" I turned slightly to look at her.

"Yeah, I have to call her again to come pick me up, probably should've done that inside"

Without so much as a response, I helped her into the passenger seat of my jeep, only leaving when I had secured her seatbelt.

"What are you-"

"I'm driving you home"

She looked at me for a while as I drove out of the parking lot before settling into the seat and resting her head back.

When we got to her house, much like the last time Charlie had gone to school, Ms. Gray stood in the grass.

" I figured you'd bring her home when she didn't call me back" Ms.Gray spoke through the passenger  window when I pulled up in front of the house.

" It makes sense since I was coming here soon anyway"

Once we had made it inside and up to her room, Charlie laid on her bed with her feet still on the ground and her arm slung across her face.

"Do you need anything?"

"Time" She said quietly so I went to sit at the window seat to give her just that.

When she stirred again, the sun was setting. She didn't say much, just went about taking off her shoes before heading to the bathroom and not too long after, I heard the shower start. She was always like this during episodes, subdued.

I hadn't planned to spend the night, mostly because I had a shit ton of homework I'd been putting off for several days that had turned the backseat of my jeep into a storage facility but it didn't feel right to leave her when she was like this.

"Can you stay over?" She mumbled, face down on her bed with a towel plopped on her wet head.

What's one more night?

"Yeah"

I sat next to her, taking the towel off her head and rubbing it on her hair to dry it.

"How are you feeling?"

"Not so bad yet"

"Then can I ask you a question?"

"Yeah go ahead" She eased up to lay in my lap so she could focus on me.

"Why aren't you friends with Kate anymore?"

She scoffed, shaking her head.

"It's just that you guys seemed so close and now it's like you don't even know each other"

"You're really oblivious you know" She stared up at me.

"What" I crossed my arms defensively.

"You think I was friends with Kate?" She chuckled, reaching up to run her hand through her still damp hair.

"Well yeah"

"Kate's my ex girlfriend Gia" She laughed at the surprised look on my face.

"Oh"

"You have to have known I was at least queer by now or are my signals not strong enough"

Something about the way she was looking at me made me want to look away but at the same time keep staring at her.

She got up from my lap to sit on her knees beside me and I kept my head facing forward until she grabbed my chin and turned my face towards her. I could feel my cheeks heating up the longer she stared at me. Before long her hand was around my neck, slowly guiding me forward and into her space.

"Just so we're clear this isn't just a friend thing, do you understand?"

I found myself nodding immediately.

"Say you understand" She demanded softly, gripping my neck more firmly, making my eyes open wider and my lips part.

"I understand"

"Is this okay?"

"Yes" I exhaled the words in a rush, wanting more of whatever this was.

Never did I imagine that we'd end up here like this but I couldn't say that I didn't like it.

She placed a kiss at the corner of my jaw and I grabbed onto her arm to stabilize myself so I wouldn't fall over from shock.

"Take it easy" She laughed softly down my ear before taking my lobe into her mouth and a sigh left my lips and I felt her laugh again.

Before I knew it I was on my back and Charlie Gray was looking down at me.

"Aren't you tired?" I could hear how breathy I sounded and my brain was betraying my body with the talks of logic.

"Are you? "

"No"

"Good"

She kissed my neck slowly, as if savoring the moment and when her tongue touched my skin, I shivered slightly and then she was back to staring at me.

"Can I kiss you?"

"ye-"

"Dinner!" Ms. Gray called from right outside the bedroom.

The look of frustration that crossed Charlie's face was amusing up until she smiled and looked back at me.

"You're okay with my mom seeing us making out right? Because there's no way I'm letting you go right now" And before I had the chance to even respond, her lips were on mine.

Kissing Charlie Gray felt natural, like breathing. It made me feel warm and tingly and when her tongue moved against mines I lost my train of thought. Her hand was in my hair, pulling me closer to her and the other was gripping my face, angling my head backwards to deepen the kiss.

I thought that I'd be riddled with anxiety when something like this eventually happened but as Charlie peeled my shirt off, flinging it across the room and attached her lips to my chest, her hands stroking my sides, I felt breathless and hot but not anxious.

The sound that left me when she sucked on a special spot had my cheeks flaring up instantly.

"So shy" She murmured, ghosting her thumb across my lip.

"Fuck" She cursed softly, pulling herself away to sit beside me.

I layed there for a while longer, trying to get my eyes to focus again and my head clear.

She got up and grabbed my t-shirt from off the floor before dressing me again like a ragdoll.

"I'm sorry, I got carried away. I wanted to take things slow so I didn't scare you and I went and did that" She chuckled, sitting down beside me.

"I don't want you to think that this is all I want from you" I could see her slightly stressing and it was enough to pull me from my reverie and have me sitting up.

She grabbed my neck again, this time turning it to the side to exam it. I watched her from the corner of my eye, keeping my head still as she stared at my neck.

"Is your mom gonna be home anytime soon?"

"No" I was still slightly breathless.

"Good " I knew why she was asking and touched my neck slightly, trying to feel where it was before Charlie reached across again and trailed her finger down my neck.

I'd never had one before and the thought of anyone seeing it made my cheeks heat up in embarrassment.

"Let's go get dinner before my mom actually comes in here and see us making out" She joked.
