I woke up the next day. It was time to face the music. I got Alexander ready.

We walked to a local park. Chase was supposed to meet us there.

"Yay we came to the park!" Alex said.

"There's a reason why we came honey." I told him.

"Really? What is it?" He asked curiously.

"We're here to meet someone." I said.

"Who mommy?" He asked. Just then I was Chase coming. I pointed to him. "Why him mommy?"

"Because there's something we're going to tell you." I told him.

"What mommy?" He asked curiously.

Chase reached the bench we were sitting in. "Hello Chase." I said.

"Abigail" he said.

"What were you going to tell me mommy?" Alex asked.

I sighed. "I have something important to tell you. You see Chase here is... is..." I couldn't say it.

"I'm you're father." Chase told him.

"What? Your my dad?" Alex asked. "No that's not true."

I looked at him. "It is honey. He's your dad" I said.

"Then why did he make you cry? I saw you crying last night, I know you thought I was asleep but I saw you crying in your room mommy. I know it's because of him." He said pointing at Chase.

Chase looked surprised by what Alex said, as was I. "I'm not going to make your mom cry again. I promise little champ." Chase told him.

"Pinky swear?" Alex said holding up his pinky to Chase.

Chase wrapped his pinky around Alex's pinky. "Pinky swear" he said.

"Ok then, you can be my daddy now." Alex said smiling at him.

"Why don't you guys go play and I'll wait for you here." I told them. Chase nodded and headed to the jungle gym with Alex.

They played for a long time. I watched them. After a while Chase came and sat with me.

"He's a wonderful boy." He said.

"He is" I responded.

"Listen Abigail I was thinking, you guys could fly over to LA when you finish school. I would like him to meet my family. You guys could stay at my house." He said.

"No absolutely not. I'll rent an Airbnb or something. I won't stay with you, and I'm sorry but I don't want to see your family. Alex can go and meet them, but I won't see them." I told him.

"They really miss you. It's not their fault you know. I want to explain everything Abigail." He said.

"I don't want to hear it Chase. Please just stop. We'll find a way for you to see Alex, but I don't want hear it." I said. "We should get going. It's getting late" I said standing up. "Alex." I called out for him. I could see him running towards me. "We'll go to LA and we'll see what we do from there" I told Chase.

"Are we leaving mommy?" Alex asked.

"We are honey." I told him.

"Is daddy coming?" He asked.

"No he isn't. He's leaving" I told him.

"Why? We just found him. Doesn't he want to be with us?" Alex asked.

"Of course I do Champ." Chase said.

"Listen to me Alex, daddy and I have to work but we're going to see him in the summer. You're going to spend lots of time with him ok." I told him.

"Ok I like that" he said. He gave Chase a hug. Chase immediately hugged him back.

"Don't forget about us." Alex told him.

"I could never" Chase said. Still hugging him.

They released each other from their hug. I held out my hand and Alex grabbed it. "Lets go home Alex." 

"Ok mommy." He said.

"Goodbye Chase." I said.

"Goodbye Abigail." Chase said, and with that we parted ways.

Throughout the following months Chase would call nonstop to talk to Alex. I don't know how I felt about this.

The months flew by. It was official. I graduated from medical school. Alex and Irene attended my ceremony.

Now it was time I started my residency. I was still waiting to hear if I got into pediatrics in a hospital in Chicago.

Irene didn't want to go to LA with us. I begged her to come, but she said she couldn't intrude. I told her it was no intrusion at all, but I still couldn't convince her to come.

Alex and I got to the airport and boarded the plane, and with that we were on our way to LA.
