Abby

The week was going by pretty quick.  I felt a lot better. The bruising on my face was minimal and the pain from my ribs was almost gone. I would go in next week to get my stitches removed.

It was currently Thursday and Kathy was going crazy for Thanksgiving dinner. She never allowed anyone near the kitchen, so Ashley and I decided to watch movies in the living room. We weren't really the football type.

Mr. Mathews and Chase however where in the basement watching the game.

I was lying on Ashley's lap when the men came upstairs. Apparently the game was over and they were hungry.

Just then Kathy called us to the table.   "Dinners ready!" She exclaimed.

We ate dinner and boy was I stuffed. "Thank you so much Kathy everything was delicious!" I said.

"Oh honey you barley ate anything. But either way I'm glad you liked it! Now whose ready for pie?" We all groaned.

After dinner Ashley and I headed to her room. She was telling me about some guy she started dating. "What about you my dear Abbs? Are you seeing anyone?"

"No Ash I'm not. I probably never will. I mean look at me." I sighed.

"Don't say that you're beautiful." I didn't realize the door was open. Just then Chase walked by. "Chase come in here."

"What are you.." I whispered.

"Isn't out Abbs here a beautiful girl?" I turned a bright shade of red. Chase looked at me.

"Of course she is." He said.

"Ok that's all we need to know. You can leave now" Ashley said. Chase walked out of the room. I smacked Ashley. "Owww!"

"Why would you do that?" I exclaimed!

"Well we needed a male opinion. You're beautiful Abbs. You just need to believe in yourself." I just sighed. Then I received a text message from Caleb.

Caleb: Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you had fun today!

Me: Thanks Caleb. I did. I hope you did too!

Caleb: I did thanks! I miss you Abby bear!

Me: i do too! I'll see you on Monday :)

Caleb: looking forward to it!

"Who's Caleb?" Ashley asked.

"Oh he's just a friend."

"A friend huh." She said with a smirk.

"Yes a friend. We have biology together and he got me the job at the cafe."

"So you guys are close" she said lifting her eye brow.

"We are, as friends."

"Ok if you say so." She said.

"I do say so. Besides Caleb would never see me as more than a friend."

"Why do you keep underestimating yourself Abbs. Any guy would be lucky to have you. And you have an ace up your hand." She said.

"Oh yeah and what exactly is it?"

"You're a virgin duh! Those are difficult to find these days. You're a rare species" Ashley said.

"Oh Ash what am I going to do with you?" I chuckled.

"I don't know. Where bffs for eternity remember." She said.

"Yup I'm stuck with you" I joked. She thru a pillow at me. I caught it and laughed. We ended watching another movie and fell asleep at some point.

I woke up the next day feeling better. I went down and had breakfast. Kathy was the only one in the kitchen. "Good morning Kathy." I said.

"Morning honey!" She said.

"Kathy do you mind if I borrow your car today. I'd like to go see my parents today."

"Sure honey, as a matter of fact Chase can take you. I asked him to run some errands for me today." Just then Chase walked downstairs. "You don't mind taking Abby to see her parents today do you Chase?"

"Of course not mom." He looked towards me. "Are you ready to go?" He said looking at me.

"Uh, yeah let's go." We walked outside and I got in the passenger seat of the car.

"We can head there first. Then you can run the errands with me. It's that ok?" He asked.

"Yeah that's fine I said." The cemetery wasn't to far out. It was only a 5 min drive.

We arrived and he parked "do you want me to come with you?"

"No id like to go alone, if that's ok?"

"Of course" he said nodding.

I walked out of the car and went to  my parents grave. I sat down "Hey mom, hey dad. I haven't been here in a while. I'm sorry. I started college in September. I got into UCLA. It's a great school. I made a friend there. Your guys would of liked him. I see Chase there a lot. You always knew I had a crush on him mom." I said with tears in my eyes. "I know you guys saw what happened to me last week, but I'm fine. I'm tough you guys know that. The Mathews arranged for me to move in with Chase when I head back, I honestly don't know how that's going to work out. Gosh I miss you guy!" I said crying harder. Just then I felt arms wrapped around me. I looked up and it was Chase. I hugged him back. We stayed there for what seemed an eternity then I pulled away. "Thanks" I said. Wiping my eyes. "We should go to the grocery store now." I said.

I stood up and walked towards the car. He trailed behind me. We drove to the store in silence.

We got to the grocery store and I grabbed a cart. We started getting things from Kathys list. Then out of nowhere a girl from our high school came up to us. "Is that Chase Mathews?" She said pulling him into a hug. He didn't hug her back. He looked uncomfortable. "Are you home for Thanksgiving?" She asked him.

"Uh yeah I am." He said with an annoying look.

"Oh and nerdy Abby is here too." She said. She giggled "oops sorry I meant to say Abby. Old habits die hard" she said laughing.

I didn't say anything. She was one of my bullies from school. She also happened to be one of Chases hookups. Chase stood beside me and looked furious. "You know, my family isn't home, you could come back to my place and we can remember old times. You don't mind do you Abby?" She said.

Oh my god! Did she just ask me that. I was so jealous. But there was no reason I should be. I was about to answer but Chase beat me to it "No definitely not." He said.

"Why not we can have so much fun together" she purred.

"Because I'm not interested. Come on Abigail. Let's go home." He said.  Pulling me to him and towards the registers. "Bye Chelsea." He said.

"It's Tiffany" she fumed and walked away.

I smirked at her reaction. We went to the registers, paid for the food and left. We got home and got the things down from the car.

Ashley was upset because she wanted to go with us but she had slept in.

We watched movies for the rest of the day and eventually fell asleep.
