Abby

I woke up the next morning and I felt completely sore. I looked at the clock. 10:30 am. I sept in a bit. I woke up and took some pain meds. It was time to face the music.

I headed down stairs and into the kitchen. Everyone was already at the table. Kathy jumped up from her seat and ran to hug me. "My dear sweet Abby. Look at you." She said with tears in her eyes. "What did that monster do to you?" She said.

I was about to respond but Mr Mathews cut in " Kathy be careful with the poor girl" he said and gave me a small hug.

"I'm fine Mrs...... Kathy" she gave me a small look that only she knew how to do and I corrected myself.

"How are you feeling dear?" Mr. Mathews asked. He never really insisted on calling him by his name.  It was Kevin, I was thankful tho. I felt awkward doing so.

"I'm fin Mr. Mathews. Thank you." I said giving a small smile.

"Well take a seat honey. Breakfast is gettin cold." Kathy said. I sat down next to Ashley and Kathy brought me a plate of French toast, eggs and bacon.

"Thank you." I said and started eating.

"You look a little pale honey. Have you been eating well? You're probably over doing yourself." She said in a worried tone. She looked over at Chase, who was very quiet this morning. "Didn't we tell you to keep an eye on her? Look at her. She's as pale as a ghost" she stated.

I immediately cut in. "I'm really ok Kathy. I've just been stressed with midterms. I promise everything's ok." She gave me an unconvinced look.

"Ok honey if you say so. I do want to bring something up tho. It's about your apartment."

"Kathy it fine, it was just bad luck. That's all" I said. I know where she was going with this.

"Bad luck my..." she cut herself off. "Look honey after we found out what happened to you. We were so worried about you. We couldn't live with ourselves if anything happened to you. Which is why we want you to  move in with Chase." I chocked on my juice.

"Yeah Abbs, we want you to be safe. Even tho I have an annoying brother, he can keep an eye on you and drive you to school everyday." Ashley said.

"No i couldn't impose, I'm really fine in my old apartment." This time Mr. Mathew cut me off.

"No Abby. You definitely can't go back to your old apartment. We allowed you to rent on your own because you insisted so much on being independent, but after what happened to you, we have to take action. I promised your father, to take care of you. You know he was my best friend and I'm going to keep my word god damn it." He said hiting the table.

I knew they all cared for me. But live with Chase? He probably didn't want me there. I sighed "Mr. Mathews I'm truly appreciate everything you guys have done for me. I can look for a different apartment, I can't impose on Chase and his privacy." I stated.

"It's not an imposition Abigail. Plus I have a spare room. It's best if you stay with me." Chase said with a serious face.

I didn't know what to say. My thoughts were interrupted by Mr. Mathews. "Ok it's settled. Now no more talking about this topic. I'm going to go golfing now." He left the table.

Ashley turned to look at me. "Well that was an intense breakfast. Come on Abbs let's go have a movie marathon." Ashley took me to the living room. They had a huge TV in there. Ashley put in a movie, but I couldn't pay much attention. I was think about what just happened.

How was it going to be living with Chase? Just the thought gave me goose bumps. I fell asleep at some point in the movie. The pain meds really locked me out. I felt to comfortable tho. I opened my eyes and my head was on someone's shoulder.

I looked up and I saw Chase. I flinched. I hurt my ribs a bit. "Be careful Abigail" he said looking at me with an intense gaze. I tried to look away but I couldn't. Just then Ashley into the room.

I looked towards Ashley "well good morning sleepy head. How was your nap?"

I slightly blushed "when did I doze off? I didn't even notice" I said avoiding the question.

"About halfway thru the movie. Then Chase to joined us and you fell on his shoulder."

"Oh." Was all I said.

"Let's watch another movie. But don't fall asleep on me this time." Ashley said.

"I won't I promise" I chuckled.

We watched movies for the rest of the day, but I couldn't concentrate with Chase sitting by my side.

We called it quits around 11 pm. We all headed to our rooms. I took a long shower and wrapped a towel around my body. I walked out of the room and I saw Chase in the room.

"Oh, sorry I knocked and when you didn't answer I got worried." He said . He was looking at me. Staring at me. Then I realized I was in a towel.

"Yeah umm, I was just taking a shower." Was all I could say.

"Do you need any help cleaning your injuries?"

"No i can" he cut me off.

"Please I insist."

"Ok, I'm just going to get changed." I quickly grabbed my clothes and ran into the bathroom. I walked back inside the bedroom and I saw Chase with the first aid kit. He cleaned the area around my stitches and I flinched.

"Sorry" he said.

"No It's ok. Thanks for helping me out." He wrapped a bandage around my wound.

"It's no problem at all." He said staring into my eyes. "Well I should head to bed." He walked towards the door. "Good night Roomie."

"Good night" I whispered and he walked out. Oh my god! Was Chase really going to be my roommate? How was that going to work out. I just sighed and I immediately fell asleep.
