"What do you think of this?" My friend Ariana sits next to me shoving her phone into my face. I let my eyes adjust to the brightness of her screen. "It says here that PRCA is opening their doors earlier to new students next semester."

I quickly snatch her phone reading over the content. It was true. I wonder why the sudden change?

"Hey Charley, I know Rave is your best friend, but I wanted to ask you a question." Ariana sounds uneasy.

I shift my gaze from the phone to her face. The look of uncertainty etched all over her face. Ariana and Raven weren't friends nor enemies. If anything the two of them are mere associates. Having them in the same room could be a disaster. I honestly dont know when or where the dislike came from, but one day hanging out with the two together wasn't a good time. Also, neither one of them told me what the issue was. So I never pushed it.

"Sure," I place her phone down.

"Have you noticed that Raven has been acting weird since the summer? Like she has been more secretive towards you?" she looks away from me, grabbing her phone.

"No, not really. Rave just has been busy. I think with this being the last school year before we graduate college. Why did something happen? Is she keeping things from me?" I don't know why I even asked her these questions. Apparently, something must have happened for her to even bring this up to me. I try to think back on all my encounters with Raven this summer and nothing out the ordinary struck me as her being secretive. Raven practically stayed in NYC for a bit, before accompanying my mother to some fashion show in South Korea.

"Just keep an eye out on her. I dont think she is truly being your friend anymore. I heard she has been hanging with Natalie and her friends over the summer." Ariana sighs deeply.

"You know I dont care who Raven hangs out with. She is my best friend, it's not like I own her." I dont know how I feel about this news. Raven and I tell each other everything, but she kept hanging with Natalie a secret. I wonder why. "If she has been hanging around Natalie. I'm sure it has something to do with fashion. You know how much I dislike fashion." I try to joke to lighten the mood. Ariana looks at me not buying it, but doesn't push the conversation and further.

"Right."

Why would Raven be hanging out with Natalie? There has been plenty of times when she would talk negatively abotu her. She also hated that Natalie was always over Chase, when I told her it didn't bother me so it shouldnt bother her she would snap at me as well. Saying it should bother me because deep down inside I still had feelings for Chase. It was a stupid middle school crush, but nonetheless, it was a crush I never got over. Crazy, right? Years later and I still have been pining over the same person. I never had a before let alone kissed anyone besides my parents on the cheek.

I wonder if I causally bring it up would she speak on it.

Probably not.

As I suspected I wasn't able to focus at all during today's lecture. I had two new things to add to my things to overthink about list. One Chase's comment about me ignoring him—could I have ignored him about something recently or in the past that's why he is being an asshole towards me. Secondly, why the hell was Raven secretly hanging out with Natalie—a person she has talked badly about for a few years now. The professor ended class fifteen minutes early and I decided to find Raven to ask her straight up.

I didn't get far. Across the lawn, I spotted Raven and she was walking with Natalie to the fashion department. I knew I shouldn't have suspected anything. Rave is my best friend and I knew her talking to Natalie had to do something with fashion. Now I feel horrible for second-guessing her and our friendship.

"Hey, Charlotte? Correct?" I look over to a girl rocking a red bob walking my way. I haven't seen her before. I take in her appearance and she is really all dressed up. I wonder if she is majoring in fashion as well.

"Uh yeah. Sorry, I dont mean to be rude, but I dont know who you are." I tell her truthfully. I thought she would be upset but her smile widens as she finally approaches me.

"I'm Tessa, Dove's bestie." She extends her hand and I dont take it. Call me rude all you want, but I rather not. She places her hand back at her side when she sees that I'm not going to shake her hand. "Look, I'm really not here to cause any problems. Seriously that's the last thing I want to do. Dove explained to me what happened earlier today. I would like to apologize on her behalf. You see Vinny and Dove have been together off and on for years. When she saw you two together it—"

"Probably struck a nerve. I get it, but Vincent and I have nothing going on and I would like it to stay that way. I also would like if Dove would leave me alone in the future." I say. Seriously the last thing I want is to be bothered by any of these girls.

"Good and the last thing we all want is that too. I will make sure to pass the message along to Dove. Well, it was nice chatting with you. And a word of advice from one best friend to the other—keep an eye out on your bestie." She says so causally then walks away as if she didn't drop a bomb on me. What the hell has Raven been up to this summer. I will definitely ask her—right after my next class.
