|THE SILENCER|

"Her shyness, the thing that was most prominent about her, was also her weapon against the dark."

•°•°•

Jasper Hale watched as Daniella picked at the snow, her tan, double-breasted trench hugging her figure as she doodled on the small flakes and retreating once she was gone to pear at her work. With a small smile quirking at his lips, he watched in silence as she went back to work, her golden curls even falling into the snow from time to time. The blizzard left a mess, such a mess that Daniella enjoyed being outside more than the inside. "How is Summer doin'?" She suddenly questioned, her ruby eyes innocently looking up at Jasper.

"She still believes that you're here with us until the snow slowly disappears," Jasper answered, his voice soft and steady before he took a spot next to Daniella. "You're a beautiful artist, you know?"

Rolling her eyes and gently shoving him, she muttered, "shut up." Then she rose to her feet, shaking her head at the blond before leaving to retreat inside the house where she had a feeling that Alice Cullen was searching for her. Since becoming a vampire, Alice seemed to be more eager to be around the girl, possibly due to the fact that she had more things to do with her - the restrictions for when she was human was gone. But as much as Daniella was still having confused feelings for Emmett and the decision he made, she was glad that she was open for the family. They could do so much more now.

Her heeled leather boots that stopped just below her knees, the ones that Alice lent to her, tapped against the floor as she entered the home with curiosity. Her ears picked up on the noises of the home: the flipping of pages as Carlisle read away in his office, the sound of Esme as she walked down the halls of the home and then came Alice's hums and she knew exactly where she was.

But as she was about to take off, frantic tapping on her shoulder dragged her attention towards her friend. Furrowing her brows, she watched as he opened his mouth, trying to speak but nothing came out and he grabbed his throat. His eyes read his confusion and with wide eyes, Daniella called for help which came immediately. "Daniella?" Carlisle questioned and his eyes quickly fell on his son who was stuck in confusion. "Please," Carlisle muttered as he stepped in front of Jasper, looking at him with concentration as he tried to discover what was wrong.

"Jaz?" Alice bubbled from her spot behind Rosalie, walking over towards her adoptive father and lover. "Your voice... it's gone?" She said it more as a question than a statement as she too became confused. "How is his voice gone? Eddy, read his mind so we can figure it out." Without words, Edward went to work, but suddenly he furrowed his brows.

He cleared his throat. "There's nothing. All he did was hang out with Dani, he commented on her picture and she said shut up unless Jasper is playing with us all-" The said boy narrowed his golden eyes at this accusation, "-then I have no damn clue what's happening."

However, Carlisle snapped his fingers just as everyone started to discuss their own ideas and the sound of his snap echoed through the home and caught everyone's attention. "Daniella," he soothed towards the newborn and shyly, she walked over to him. "Repeat after me: please speak." Bewildered, she repeated after him,

"Please, speak."

"-I'm not faking it you-"

"You're a mute!" Alice squealed out loud, clapping her hands together in pure joy. Her eyes sparkled like Christmas as she suddenly stood before Daniella, her mouth was blown wide as she bounced on her feet. "You have a gift."

Frowning, Emmett asked to explain. "Gosh, where do I even begin?" Alice mumbled, deep in thought before continuing. "Mutes or silencers are vampires who have the ability to well, silence anyone by saying something like shut up. So-" Alice spun on her heel and looked at Daniella with the same wide, stumbling a little bit, she listened as Alice told her silence her. "Uh, be quiet, please?"

Then silence came out of the chattiest Cullen.

Not visible to the eyes of Daniella, Emmett Cullen smirked in pride for his mate before letting it fade away. Daniella was quick to bring back Alice's voice, however, "speak!" And she did. Her voice fell from her lips and she laughed in euphoria, and grabbed Daniella and pulled her into a hug. "What does this mean? I have a gift, yeah, but you're all so excited about it. Why?" Daniella, herself, did find gifts to be exciting to learn, but now being in her own shoes and owning one herself, it made her feel almost anxious in away. Everyone's eyes were on her and she had to fiddle with her coat sleeves to calm her nerves, but they were dissolved and were replaced with a thick layer of tranquil.

Jasper Hale sent her a wink and whispered in a tone that made her smile a tiny bit. "No need to thank me. I've been in the same situation before." After that, Daniella was showing and explaining her gift, achieving pride from the family as she learned more about herself and Emmett, the burly man with a shy smile, why he watched from the corner. Since fear was still in him, he distanced himself away until him and Daniella can have their conversation about the elephant in the room.

"You already know the reason why we're here," Emmett called as he finished burying the animals that he and Daniella fed on just moments ago. "I don't think I have to explain it, uh, so..." He stood to his full height, towering over Daniella as she leaned against a dead tree, her ruby eyes starring at him with uncertainty until he grew a smile and, uncontrollably, slowly matched his smile. "When I met you-" he begun, his smile still on his face, but his eyes, they told a different story, "-I realized you something different. I saw your curly hair and beautiful, diamond eyes and I know I was a goner."

Furrowing her brows, she wondered what he meant, but instead of butting in, she kept quiet. "I knew not only that, b-but that you were going to change m- change all of us. And you did - you changed us even if it was the tiniest thing or the biggest thing about us. D-Dani, you really changed me out of all of us. You made me feel things that I never felt before; even with Rose." His demeanor changed then, his hand to fiddle with the buttons on his coat, the other stayed in his pocket and his eyes, the two of them diverted away from Vanessa. His mouth opened to let out his words, but all escaped was a simple and long, 'um.'

However, Daniella decided to butt in then. "Speak. Speak what you're not telling me, Emmett." And to both of their surprise, her gift worked.

Emmett spoke instantly, "you're my mate. It was never Rose, i-it was you... always you." He couldn't stop after that. Like a record, Emmett Cullen continued his tune. "Jesus. When I saw you, I instantly fell and I know you don't feel the same way. Honestly, I don't even know what I feel. You're my mate, yeah, and when I say that or realize that, it makes butterflies fly all around my stomach. It's torture, but damm, do I enjoy it." Looking at her, deep in the eyes, he placed his hands on her shoulders and licked his lips. "You're so beautiful, Dani and I love every aspect of you and changing you was either my mistake or my award - it's up to you. But I changed you because I need you. I need to see you and your lovely curls and well, your now red eyes. I needed to hear that chirp like laugh that you have and the way you can shy away from the world in an adorable fashion." A laugh escaped his throat then that made her stomach tighten. "We're so different, like two puzzle pieces that don't fit. Yet, I still enjoy the challenge of trying to make us fit together and you're up for it? Wanna join me in this challenge?"

Speechless, Daniella Morgan stared at him while the information worked gears in her head and as much as she was having trouble coming to terms with who she was, she realized why she was created. She realized why Emmett was always around her so much. She realized why she felt her heart flutter whenever she was around him. But most importantly, she realized she was allowing herself to be part of the challenge. "I'm up for it," she breathed, grasping onto his wrist. "I don't know what my feelings are, Em." The woman explained, removing his hands from her shoulders to hold them lightly in her hands. "But that's why a thing called time is created for."

When she looked up at him, she gifted him with a toothy smile, her lips being lifted and her eyes dancing with sparkles. "Now, since you just admitted a whole lot to me, I suppose we take a break, hmm? A day covered in pajamas and blankets while we watch TV sounds like a good plan to me. What do you think?"

Giggles escaped her as she raced back to the house, leaving Emmett dumbfounded for a moment before he was following after. Unknown to them, hidden in the woods was a pair of dark-brown eyes and the echo of a growl. A growl belonging to a wolf - the enemy of vampires.

Though Daniella was unsure about Emmett's decision, she couldn't stand to not be around him and his wicked humor. The boy was easygoing, a thing that Daniella admired about him and the way that he almost never mad, but he can be powering. If it was from standing up to monsters or letting everything he was feeling for his mate to fall straight onto her, he was powerful in any case.

"So you said that you believe he's way hotter than the actual hero of the story?" Stifling a laugh, Daniella nodded as she tied her hair to the top of her hair. On her body was some pajamas that Alice owned and lent to the girl and amusingly, the were Eeyore themed which Emmett found adorable. For Daniella, she didn't mind but would roll her eyes whenever she found Emmett starring at her clothing items.

Looking at the television and back to him, she nodded quickly. "I mean, that red hair, oh man!" He sat back, looking at her with an unsure look that she didn't seem to notice and he huffed. "But eh, it's just me."

"What's just you?"

"Huh, I don't know."

"That makes no sense," Emmett retorted and soon she grinned from ear to ear. "If you make some smart-ass comment-" But before he could finish, the sound of pounding traveled through the home. The ruby-eyed girl stayed in her spot as Emmett darted to the door, small and hushed voices could be heard as he talked to the guest, which caused Daniella to be extremely curious. However, once she saw a familiar boy walk through the doors, she froze.

"Oh, well this is awkward," Andrew Raven noted once he saw Daniella on the couch with large eyes. "Whoa, you're a vampire now. Shit. That's pretty cool." Meanwhile, as he spoke to her, all she could do was stare at him blankly until Emmett suggested that he should tell them why he was here. "So, call me crazy or whatever but, as I was in the woods and following your guys' diet, some wolf came up to me. The animal's coat was like a dark-chocolate color and it was bigger than an average wolf; way, way bigger." Frowning, Raven continued. "Then he transformed into a naked dude it was beyond awkward to talk to him with his wang han-"

"Ok, ok," Emmett stopped him, his face telling their guest that he didn't want to hear those details. "You said a wolf, right?" His golden eyes widened in realization and his hands came to clench into fists at his sides. "Damnit, damnit..."

Confusion took her completely and she was quick to dash so she was by the two, her red eyes looking between them. "What's happening? Why did you see a wolfman and why are you freaking out?" Her hands were gentle against his arm as she looked at him, her eyes quietly pleading him to answer her and her thousands of more questions. It scared her, it was barely there, but it was strong. She wanted that feeling to be brushed away and replaced with something more calming; more tranquil.

"Please, explain what's happening and why do I have a feeling that it deals with me?"
