Michael J Donovan

Gratefully it was summer time and the year was over meaning Aisha is all mine. I smiled at the thought. Yeah that fact hit me hard: I like her. Nathan almost died of laughter (in the literal sense of it) when I finally admitted that I did. He wouldn't leave me be. Always teasing me about her when ever he got the chance to and that was every damn time. And unfortunately he had to follow us here too. Hopefully he keeps the teasing minimal because I have not outed it yet. Yes I'm just trying to avoid any chance of an awkward situation between us. We get along so well it had really be a waste and unfortunate to destroy the little connection we have. But this too was very dependent on my ego. She told me before. Warned me even, about any possible steering of feelings between us. ... But I guess I couldn't keep my own end of the deal and now I'm scared of her reaction. She's a very unpredictable person most at times.

"Welcome to Saudi Mr Donovan." We were welcomed by Mr Al Hamaad's youngest son since he was on a trip in Turkey. He was a good looking guy, a little lean and tall. He had the traditional robe and white scarf on.

"Thank you Mr Al- Hamaad." I replied moving close to give him a hand shake to which he shakes firmly with a smile.

"I'm sorry my father told me you had be coming with company but he didn't really address the matter exactly as to who I'll be receiving." He apologized looking towards Aisha. Why do I have a bad feeling about his apologies? "I'm glad it's a beautiful woman." He complimented, making her blush as she stepped closer to me. "To whom do I have the honor?" He asked stretching out his hand towards her for a hand shake as well with a smile.

"Aisha." She replied in her usual calm sultry tone, returning his smile.

Yes her usual tone sounds sultry alright. And I know it's not something out of my imagination because Nate and a couple of my friends confirmed it after our reunion at Halloween. The guys were all over me for her number, to which I had stubbornly refused to giveout.

"Hmm. " he frown a little at her reply. "Interesting. I had no idea Americans were fond of Islamic or Arabic names. Nice to meet you. Aisha ...Arabic name for life or the one who thrives. Name of one of the wives of the prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him" He said still hold her hand.

"Yea." She replied with pride.

You know the feeling you get when you're being left out of a conversation because you got no idea what's happening? That's me right now.

"Kadri Al Hammad. Please to meet you." He said finally letting go of her hand..

"Same... and nice ghutra, you're the first I've seen it fits so perfectly." She said with a grin.

"You know this?" He asked surprised holding out his scarf. I too was

"Of course I do. Assalamualaikum brother." She said holding her hands together and slightly bowing

"No way. Tell me you know Arabic." he asked curiously, his tone clear with excitement.

"Well I had love to but that had be lying." She said as they laughed at her joke. "I don't know anything about Arabic but I do know a lot of Muslim stuff due to my Islamic background." She explained.

"You're a Muslim?" We both asked.

"Hello.. Why had I have the name Aisha if I wasn't one?" She asked in a duh tone.

"I thought it was just a name..."

"It is a name thought. I'm a Muslim by faith and denomination not by practice. I'm not the perfect strict to rule Muslim girl as you guys may have noticed."

"Oh I understand now. What surprises do you have up your sleeves?" He teased.

"Oh a lot more. I'm just getting started." She teased back

I didn't like the fact that they hit it of good from the first meeting.

"Hmm. I'm intrigued. Here's the Al Faisaliah hotel. Please follow me. I'll be your guide to your suite." He said ushering us in.

We followed behind to the royal penthouse suite we took for us three.

It was a luxurious suite with two master's bedroom. A twin bed guestroom, Jacuzzi, a kitchen, an office, private elevator, touchscreen control panels....Well as I said... luxurious. I took that to be closer to Aisha without raising any unwanted attention.

"I guess you took the jackpot when you reserved." she said teasingly.

Anything for you. I thought to myself

"Yeah well Mr Hammad insisted on us lodging in Al Faisaliah so we could attend a gala of some sort." I replied scratching the back of my head.

"Oh but I had no idea. I should have bought some fancy clothing." She replied.

"Oh that's OK. I'm positive you had be stunning in anything. But knowing how insistent women are about their looks for such events there a variety of shops you could go to. I'm sure you had fine something to your taste." He replied

"Oh isn't he quite the charmer." she said.

Their flirt game started getting on my nerves already.

"I'm sure Riyadh will be at your taste. And no worries they have a great variety of clothes like those in the US and the gala won't really be Oriental based anyway." He said.

"I definitely won't get bored." She replied.

"I'll see that you don't." He replied. "Well I'll leave you both to settle. My father will be in tomorrow morning. Good day." He said leaving.

Finally...

"You don't like him much." She said pulling her luggage towards the elevator.

"Like who?" I asked and she chuckled at my reaction.

"Kadri... I know when you don't like someone. It's so obvious."she replied and I fall in step with her. "What are you doing?"

"I'm going to help you." I replied

"Michael I'll be fine. I'm not a glass doll." She replied laughing.

"I know. I just want to." I replied

"Hmm clingy." She mumbled pressing the up button.

"Can't I be with my best friend without being judged?"

She laughed heartily and replied. "Nathaniel is your best friend."

"Nate is my brother. And I'm hurt you reject me like this." I said feigning hurt with my hand to my heart. "I thought we were past that stage."

"We were at that stage but a certain Mr Grouchy over here likes being alone."

"I'm not grouchy." I scoffed

"Yea sure."she said with a laugh.

"Not to you anyway." I mumbled.

"I know." She replied with a smile pinching my cheeks lightly. And my eyes widened a fraction.

Could she know about my little crush on her? Am I that obvious?

"...but you should be like this more often. It's nice to see 'rainbow Michael' more often."

"Only for you. And that name sounds so horrible on every level." I said scrunching up my face from the horrendous nickname she just gave me.

"What's up with you?" She said with a laugh "...you're so cheesy today. Are you OK?" She asked moving to touch my forehead to check if I have a fever. But I gave her a deadpan look and she smiled cheekily, dropping her things into the closet. "Told you I could handle it." She said showing up her biceps. I chuckled at her action. "I was thinking... " she said moving to the bed and sitting on it before lying and moaned "mmhhmmm... perfect." I cleared my throat for her to continue. " ..you were thinking...?"

She sat up right once again. "Maybe we could visit Riyadh, go shopping and discover what Saudi has got to offer us before Nate's arrival tonight."

"We could. I know how much you love touring...and we have time to ourselves so yeah why not." I said.

Immediately she sprang from the bed into my arms and giving me a tight hug repeatedly saying thank you into my chest. God, I wish I could just capture her into my arms and stay like this forever.

"I'll go get ready." She said releasing me from the hug, with me reluctantly and begrudgingly letting her go.

God I really have it bad for her.

"Ok I'll be down." I replied as she rushed into the bathroom mumbling a response back.

Fuck! Why can't I have her for myself?
