Aisha Aliyu

Another long tiresome day in this work driven country. Don't get me wrong, it's amazing here. But I just miss home at times; the meals, my parents, my family, my old friends. I've been here for two years and a half for my undergraduate studies in Interior designing in the university. I'm in my sophomore year, with a lot to do everyday. It's an every second struggle here between work, school, your private life, your social life. Yeah, that's just to name a few.

When I came here, I had a certain complexity about my body as a whole; my skinny size, brown skin color, how I'll fit in, how I'll feed with all the strange meals around me, been afraid of racists... Well that was all in my head and it's normal, being an international student of course I had fears. However, it was totally different. My two room mates were the best you could have in your entire life.

Kimberly Winchester from Manchester in the UK was the craziest girl I've ever met. She's cool, fashion freak, shopaholic, and she studies fashion designing. She has coral green eyes with long straight brown hair that falls down to her waist. I know right, I'm totally jealous of her hair. She has a slim body build with a creamy color complexion. Her boyfriend, Jeremy is a total headshot. Of course he had be one; he's a model after all. It's all to her merit. after all, she needs the best of best. Kim is an absolute perfectionist. They are lovely together like a celebrity couple but, they have a bad tendency of doing alot of PDA, much more than what your eyes would take and your mind had be comfortable with. However she's our Kimmy. What would life be without her? ;)

Well Toni Martinez, half Brazilian and half Venezuelan is the smarter one of our group. She has jet black straight hair, perfect curves, a perfect booty, She's not fat but not too slim either. She has a perfect tan and dark eyes. She's the perfect definition of beauty and brains.  I know. I've used a lot of perfect in her description but it's just so that you get a glimpse of what she looks like. Toni has got the body of a goddess. Though she does not really flaunt it. Toni's got a boyfriend too. Well, more like a fiance to me because they're so all over each other you had think they are engaged. When you see them it's so obvious. They're always on dates, private moments, always cuddling, all lovey doey around. Jules is a sweet guy. Always thoughtful, caring and is smart, just like Toni. He's at another uni doing his graduate program. They've got a good age difference of about six years apart or so, but that does not make them feel any different about each other and that's what makes them so compatible.

Over to me. Well you had be disappointed. I'm brown skin, a dreamer, an artist, average physical features that are not very flattery. The type a guy will never turn his head back if I pass by him. Well they do. But mostly when I'm with Kim and Toni. I'm about 1,72m, I've got a poisonous tongue when you try to be a bitch with me. You won't like to prick me on the wrong side. I would strongly advice you not to pick a quarrel or fight with me. I'm not aggressive or impulsive. It's just, let's say standing up for yourself. I'm fun when I'm in the mood but I'm mostly quiet. I'm someone of few words, down to earth, love anything arts related, a true friend, dependable, a good listener, independent. Single unlike my two friends... what else? Well you'll judge for yourself within the long run with me.

I love them both a great deal. They are fun, easy going, dependable, caring, understanding and are truthful. I really enjoy their company. Kim always tries getting us into some crazy adventures while Toni and I are the ones trying to reason things out with her.  They make me laugh a lot and I am really grateful I met such amazing people. We all work at the same place so it would be more secured when returning home. My other family members are in different states far from mine so I have to work extra hard since I depend solely on myself. We're on a Friday presently and Kim being her usual self pulling our legs in the morning

" we're late. hurry up Kim!" Toni yelled at the bathroom door

"I'm almost done. Geez gimme some time." She yelled back

"You've been in there for hours now." Toni said. " unbelievable!" She muttered.

"You should have been use to that by now. " I said laughing at her exasperated expression

"It doesn't still justify why she has to make us late for everything." She replied pinching the bridge of her nose."okay that's it. I'll go pull her out." She said moving toward the door but Kim pushes it open so abruptly that it hit Toni's nose.

"Aoww!"she yelps in pain

"Uhoh. Someone's in deep shit." I said with wide eyes.

"Oh my! I'm so so sorry T, I didn't mean to" Kim spluttered.

" but you did." She said side stepping her and moving into the bathroom. Kim turn and look at me for help but I just shrugged.

" is it that bad?" I asked in concern

"No I'll be fine. Fortunately, my nose isn't broken."she replied massaging the nose with some cream

" let me see it." Kim tried touching it but Toni move away.

" it had be better if you stay away from my face for now, while the angry nose gets calm" Toni replied

"Sorry. I didn't mean to." Kim replied with her head hanging low in guilt. That's the thing with Kim. She's so emotional and super emotive. She has a great heart. Toni sighed.

"I'm not mad at you it just hurts pretty much so I don't want anyone around. You know how self pity annoys me." She said but Kim just nodded in response. Then grabbed her bag without a word moving towards the door.

"Let's go then." She said with the door open as she looked at us but Toni and I exchanged side glances before picking up our back packs and exiting the room.

Kim is really something at times. When she's silent, that's a big red alarm. Kim is not silent unless she's doing some super hard stuff that need every single neurons of hers or when she's mad at you or she wants to make you feel guilty.

The ride to school was quiet. no one uttered a word and Toni and I just exchanged side glances and looked at Kim through the rare view mirror who only looked out the window. Once at school, we all pool out of the car expecting something but she still did not say a word

" see you after class then." She said waving at us and moving away.

" okay. Our weekend plot still holds right? " I asked and she stopped right in her track and turn back to us with a wide smile on her face like that of the Cheshire cat.

" of course." She said and continue moving towards her class.

Toni and I did a high five and laughed. She always does that so that we had bend to her demands. Such a drama queen.
