Author's notes: Long ass recap since I haven't updated from January. Also the date and months are the same in casters. The only thing different is the year. Alphas is my main series but I want to continue this. So I will try to post it weekly or every two weeks. It will be easy to do so since these chapters will be shorter than the Alphas chapters.

Recap of Chapter 1: Set out on a journey to the Sacrificial Empire; also known as the Saki Empire, a boy named Seth searches for his father. He also pursues freedom from the shadows by trying to clear a murderous reputation brought on by becoming a True-Caster. Without a chance, he was sentenced to death with no trial and was placed in a cell until execution. A guy named Ace Reynard, Coronel of the battalion force that rules over district 1 recognized the skills Seth holds. He wasn't just an ordinary True-Caster that sacrificed a family member for power. He was decent. Ace made a request to Elijah Sacretore, third and current emperor of the sacrificial empire, to send a letter to the council asking to spare Seth's life. Later that night a prison riot erupted and Seth had an opportunity to escape. Seeing what the prisoners were doing to their own people, he decided to stop them. With a powerful spell cast by his fire magic, Seth indeed saved them. After saving them he was caught in the process of escaping by Ace's lieutenant, the Aurora Caster. Brought forth to the emperor, Seth was shocked to find out that he was a True-Caster. The emperor so pleased by what Seth did, made him change his decision and decide to have a democratic trial. Elijah had gotten a letter from the council. Ace was surprised by this thinking that the council responded to their request but when Elijah revealed that he never sent out the letter, a suspicion was brought on about a spy in the kingdom. Another thought came to mind that the council may have had other motives for keeping Seth alive. That same night, Seth's uncle and aunt were slaughtered by men working directly under the council. His trials will begin the next morning. Find out more on this chapter of "Casters".

First Person. Alex's (POV)

Darkness. All around me I see darkness. A mist creeping at the edge of my feet, and me standing at the center of a graveyard. Bodies in every direction I look. The smell of blood. The smell of death. It races my heart and frightens me. I step backwards afraid for what I'm viewing. I turn around but was immediately stopped by a little boy running towards me. He's under 10 years old and appears to be dirty. He's running at me fast with a traumatized face. He's screaming something. What is he yelling? Why is he struggling so hard to yell?! He's frightening me.

"What are you saying?!" I screamed. "I can't hear you?!"

"Run!" It started to clear up as he moved closer. "Run now! You have to get out of here! You don't belong here! She's coming for you! Run Alex!" He tripped over a body and fell to his face.

"He... he knows my name!" I said softly while gulping with a frightened expression. He lift his body back up. "Who's coming for me?! What are you talking about?!" I shouted. He looked up at me and his eyes trembled immensely.

"Sh-she's already here. She's come for your body!" He lifted his trembling finger at me. I heard this soft female humming tone behind me and I realized it wasn't me he was pointing at. "It's the lady in white." I turned around quickly to a white dress motioning in the dark. Black hair danced in the wind and her face was a pale dead gray. Her lips was as black as her hair and her eyes were glowing blue with no emotions in them. She stood their smiling at me. "Leave now!" He gripped my hand. She started disappearing into the mist and reappearing at a closer distance every time. "Don't let her touch you! Leave Alex!" My eyes shook traumatized by this vision. I couldn't move. Suddenly she disappeared completely and for a second there I thought I was going to crazy. A warm breathe behind my neck made my eyes shook. I spun around quickly and she stood not even 20 inches from my face. Her dead hands with cracked and dirty black nails lifted to my face. I shut my eyes tightly while screaming at the close range of her fingers. I screamed and screamed not stopping at all. A hand rested on both sides of my shoulder shaking my body.

"Leave me alone! Del fiatorus mon deblos!" I lifted my hand forward activating a spell with my eyes still shut.

"Alex!" My eyes burst open to the sound of his voice.

I looked at him lying on the side of me breathing heavy. I gazed forward noticing flames extinguishing on the wall.

"Kaleb..." I said softly to him, not knowing what just happened.

"Those nightmares you've been having recently aren't normal if they make you do that in your sleep!" He pointed at the wall. "You could've killed me Alex!" He got up irritatingly brushing his white coat off. I couldn't help but giggle though. "You think this is funny?!" He questioned.

"A little bit. Besides, I finally got the fire blast spell right." I looked over to the counter at all of his vials and flasks. "What are doing over there?"

"Don't try and change the topic!" He looked at me with bothered eyes. "You always try to overlook this like it's nothing to fear. I worry for you. What did you see, Alex?" I sighed a bit annoyed that he's lecturing me. He's not going to stop unless I say something.

"I saw the same thing I always do. It's like a repeat. Darkness, dead bodies, mists, and a little boy trying to tell me something. With every time I have that nightmare, it extends. This is the 13th time I'm having it. The last one made it to the point where he pointed at me. Now this one made it to where I realized that he was pointing behind me. I saw her Kaleb. I saw her face but I don't know who she is." Before I realized it, I was gasping for air. "I thought these nightmares meant something and that I had to solve it but thinking about it scares me. I just wish you'd agree that they're just normal nightmares!"

"Believing they're normal would make you feel better. But for me, as your older brother, solving the problem would make me feel better. You don't have them every night. But while you sleep, I will monitor and analyze your brain waves and figure out the content of these dreams."

"You can do that?!" I was surprised.

"Come on Alex, you're talking about me here. With a little magic and the right set of gadgets I should be able to pull it off."

"You've been studying human technology a lot. Before you know it, you'll become one of them." A beep started sounding from my projector watch. I looked over at Kaleb and his was going off as well.

"A royal broadcast?"

"It appears so." I opened the message and a transparent face was projected out of it. Cassidy Klides, a common news reporter within the walls of the Saki Empire. She does whatever is needed to get the latest story on what's happening. She's quite evasive and a very scandalous bitch. She's done a report on my brother and I being rare gems a few times, but made fun of us later in the claim that we're liers. In all honesty, I have an equal hate and like for her. She brings insight to the people on what the Emperor and the Battalion force is hiding, so she gains a little respect from me. If she's override our watches for a forced report, then she has royal consent. Which means this important.

Good morning citizens of the Saki Empire. This report is being broadcast to all within the 5 districts. The Emperor has made an announcement that a civil trial is to be commenced at 1000 Hours. An individual that has obtained the title of True-Caster will be publicly tried. Many of you in district 1 are well aware of the incident that occurred last night in which several prisoners escaped. And many witnesses claimed to have seen fire flying across the sky and striking these prisoners down simultaneously. The True-Caster was involved. The decision upon their fortune will be decided by the people. Nobles alone are to attend the trial to decide the fate of this individual. Cassidy Klides, with the latest report.

"Can you believe the morals of some people?" My brother began to speak. "How heartless does one have to be in order to kill one of their family for power? I'm really curious as to why they're not executing this one like the others." Her projected avatar vanished. I'm just sitting here staring with a dazed expression trying to assess what she just said. Why does that mean something to me?

"I never got your name!" He yelled at me into the crowd of people. "I at least want to remember the one person that actually cares what happens to me!"

"Alex... My name's Alex!" I tried to smile. I shut my eyes for a split second and I felt the tear drain down my face. I turned around quickly and began walking away from him.

"Seth!" I stood to my feet quickly. I began smiling because he actually has a chance. "I bet he stopped those prisoners last night!"

"Alex. What's the matter?" I looked over at Kaleb keeping my set smile.

"The True-Caster being put on trial, I know him! I've met him."

First Person. Seth's (POV)

-----> Two Hours Before Trial <-----

08:00 hours.

My door squeaked open a little and my eyes jumped awake to the sound. Fright came over me when I saw this black figure standing there. I only viewed for a split second before my head was covered with a bag. Both sides of my arms were gripped and I was being blindly pulled out of my cell.

"Hey! Let go of me! What are you people doing?!" I screamed and struggled. I tried to resist their pull by letting my body drag.

"You annoying brat!" I heard a shout before a heavy hit against my head had my eyes spinning. All I remember is my eyes shutting beneath the dark bag.

"Ahhhh!" I screamed to cold water plashing onto my body. I started breathing heavy to the chill of it. I'm cold... that's not possible. The bag is off of my head but my dizzy eyes won't let me get a clear sight of the room. My wrists and ankles are bounded. I'm upright but I'm not even touching the floor. I'm chained. My body feels drained and weak. My head hangs back down, being too weak to even lift it. Sharp fingernails slid beneath my jaw. My head was tilted up by the hand and looking at the person for a few seconds, my vision cleared up enough for me to realize that this person was a female. She looked old, maybe mid-seventies.

"Excellent, you're awake." She smiled at me while backing away.

"Why... why am I so weak? What did... you do to me."

"I didn't do anything. The anti-magic cuffs were designed in a way that you can prevent a person from using magic, but also keep them sturdy enough to speak." She walked around the room picking up items. "Those cuffs that bound you has your skin completely contacted with the substance that prevents all magic. Crystals. It wouldn't do anything to a normal Caster. But you being a True-Caster and your magic running through your veins. It makes you all the more vulnerable to the crystals."

"Are you... going to kill me or something?" I strained to say.

"Kill you? Oh no my dear, I was given specific orders to bathe and clothe you for your trial. Just look at yourself."

"What...?" I looked at my arms, then down at the rest of my body. My eyes jumped open. "What?! Why am I naked?! Why are you looking at me you old hag?!"

"Who are you calling old hag?! I am as young and beautiful as a flower!" Her dried up lungs yelled.

"Close your... eyes..." I grew weak again. "Feels like... my life force is draining out." My eyes shut close again.

"Just relax my dear, it'll be over soon." Just great... I'm leaving my body in the care of this old hag. Please don't violate me.

0945 hours.

"Seth. Can you hear me?" My eyes squeezed open and I looked straight ahead from where the voice was coming from.

"Ace!" I yelled when I noticed his ice blue eyes gazing at me. I looked around the room and we were in a small box. We sat across from each other with a table separating the two of us. I started feeling across my body rapidly and then sighed in relief that my clothes were on and the cuffs weren't.

"Calm down, Seth." He sat there with a straight face.

"What's going on? Why are we in here? Am I not supposed to be on trial? Did you know there was an old woman violating my body?! I mean... I think there was an old woman. Or maybe... maybe that was nightmare." He sighed shaking his head at me.

"You talk a lot. A woman was to prepare your body and dress it for your trial. That was lady Mellany." Shivers passed through my body thinking about her. "As for your trial, that's why I'm here. It starts in 15 minutes and I need to know exactly what you plan to say beforehand. This is a private room shielded by magic. You're free to speak freely without worry of saying something wrong. Say to me what you'll say to them during the trial. That's if you trust me of course." I looked around the room. It really was plain and boxed with no doors. Maybe the door was shielded by magic.

"All right. I guess I can start at my birth." I gave in easily. "I was umm... My dad is a Caster and my mom is a Human. My uncle told me that she was going to die no matter what because that's what happens to non-magical creatures that carry magical creatures."

"What?!" His eyes spread at my statement.

"What's wrong?" I became nervous at his expression.

"You just began and your trial would've been over just from those few words you spoke. You're basically one iniquity after another. Being born of both Human and Caster is also another reason for them to execute you. I don't want you to die because I see something in you that's pure. You deserve to live and at least now I know why your mom died. At least now I have a reason to believe your story is true. But you can't tell that to anyone else!"

"Then what do you want me to say." I asked. "How do I get out of this?"

"You're only being convicted of being a True-Caster so all your arguments should be opposing that. Listen to wait I say carefully. I will help you get through this but you must trust in what I say."

"I don't really have a choice, do I?" I responded.

09:59 hours.

"You ready?" Ace rested his palm on my shoulder. We stood in front of giant 18' doors.

"No." I shook my head in doubt.

"That's a shame." He gestured his hand for two men to come over. "Just to put the audience at ease, it was requested that you wear the anti-magic cuffs during the trial. Remember, no one exists but the council members before you. I won't be by your side during the trials, but I will be there watching." I nodded at him in understanding. A large bell sounded. I breathe in and out while turning to the doors preparing myself. The two men had wrapped cuffs around my wrist and bounded them behind my back.

"No more running, Seth. This is fate." I said to myself. The doors opened slowly. The first thing I noticed was a giant room with a wooden stand at the center. The two men escorted me toward it. While walking through, I couldn't ignore the whispers upon me. I had to look around. On both sides sat long rows of seats filled with people. In front of me sat 5 older men on a stand, and tiny electronic looking dragonflies hovered across the entire place. I arrived at the center of the stand frightened by the silence that had transpired.

"Your highness." One of the councilmen spoke out while gesturing his hand slightly upward beyond me. "May you do the honor?" I looked back quickly noticing a large upper area above the door. A chair fit for royalty was the only one up there, with the emperor sitting in it. He leaned on one side with his elbow on the chair handle. His fingers brushed pass the strands of beard on his chin. What really surprised me was to see Ace standing by his side. He smirked at me while nodding his head. The emperor's hand raised into the air while he spoke.

"Let the trials begin!"
