Town's Trip

After breakfast was served and finished, Edgar left his seat and requested that (f/n) wait for him in the foyer, while he changed into something more suitable for a trip into town. She simply nodded in response and sat on the bottom step of the left staircase. While she waited, however, she partook of one of the flower lollipops, a blue raspberry one to be exact.

She didn't know what to make of the trip into town with Edgar. He called it a vacation from work, but could it be considered a date? (F/n) thought that it might as well be. Of course, Edgar would refuse to call it that, since he always liked to leave her in a state of confusion. If it genuinely was a date, she did look forward to it. In fact a feeling of giddiness was currently coursing through her veins. Outwardly, she did her best to contain such a feeling. Thankfully, the sweetness of the lollipop helped, since she could focus some of her attention on it.

When she heard footsteps descending the steps behind her, she peered over her left shoulder. Seeing Edgar, she felt a bit of heat rise to her cheeks. A white button-up and black blazer, with two silver buttons on the left side of it and white cuffed sleeves that went just past the elbows, covered his torso. Black pants went over his legs, and black dress shoes complimented his feet. Around his neck were an emerald green tie and an emerald green scarf. His dark brown locks hung loose and framed his face perfectly. He really outdid himself.

"I take it that you like my outfit change," he remarked with one of his typical smirks highlighting his face.

A darker blush covered her cheeks upon realization that she made her opinion so obvious, even without voicing it. She glanced down at her hands, moved her lollipop to the side of her mouth and muttered, "Yeah, you look nice."

"I'm glad that you think so. Now, why don't we head out and enjoy ourselves?" he commented, walking down the steps the rest of the way. Before he walked past her, though, he held out a pair of black and pale blue wedge ankle boots. A pair of white socks accompanied the footwear. "You might want to change your shoes, however," he noted, looking over at her slippers.

"Actually, I thought that I would let my feet at least be comfortable," she joked, with a smirk of her own painting her lips, after she had finished her lollipop. An amused expression crossed Edgar's countenance before she took the shoes and socks from him. Taking off her slippers, she put on the socks and boots. Afterwards, she stood up from her seat, disposed of the lollipop stick in a nearby trashcan and followed Edgar out of the house.

It wasn't long before they were in the car and on the way to the town. (F/n) recalled that the last time she had been in the car with Edgar was right after she received that letter. That letter was certainly life changing. At first it had seemed like a dagger to the heart, but it had turned out into something quite different, whether that something different was amazing or not depended on the day.

Currently, she thought that it would remain positive, since there seemed to be almost no tension between Edgar and her. Well, his teasing ways could always be frustrating, but there was a lighthearted element to them as well. She knew that they were his weird way of showing affection. Edgar didn't exactly follow the typical ways of displaying affection, but she didn't mind too much anymore. In fact typical could easily become boring after awhile. So, being surprised was both infuriating but also exciting.

Resting her chin in the palm of her right hand, she leaned against the right back window of the car. As she did this and thought about various things, Edgar kept a keen eye on her. He needed to make sure that she had the proper clothes for the next phase. If she didn't, he wouldn't be able to proceed. Sweaters, shirts, shorts and pants hardly gave any inspiration. Dresses that fitted her form and added to her radiance would certainly be more influencing.

Smiling at the thought, he reached over to her, with his left hand, and pushed some loose (h/c) strands behind her left ear. He felt her tense slightly by the contact, since he probably caught her off guard. When she met his gaze, he pulled back but now sat closer to her.

Running his right fingers through some strands of her hair gently, he admired her more, and he could tell that he was embarrassing her. The complimentary light pink hue colored her cheeks, as she started to stutter. As she tried to say something, he motioned for her to remain quiet. "I'm going to spoil you today, and I don't want to hear any protest. I'm going to make sure that everyone who sees us knows that you're mine."

Now, she didn't really know what to say. His tone had taken a slightly possessive one, and she didn't know what brought that on. Moreover, she couldn't hold her gaze with him for long, since his words made her quite bashful. Still, she could feel his fingers still combing through her hair and his gaze still on her. This continued for a few more minutes, and she wondered if Edgar even was aware of his actions anymore. When he finally pulled away, she hesitantly looked over at him.

He was looking out the back window on his side of the car. It was as though none of that had even happened with how easily he could revert back to his usual self. Letting out a soft sigh, she returned to peering out her own window. Hopefully, he wouldn't do anything like that when they were in the town. If he did, she might die of embarrassment.

Once they arrived in the center of the town, Lowell dropped them off next to a clothing store. Upon exiting the vehicle, (f/n) immediately felt many eyes on her. She glanced around her and saw several people on the streets looking at the two of them. Did they really stand out that much? After she took another look at their attire, she could only assume that the answer was yes.

Caring very little for the attention, (f/n) grabbed Edgar's left hand with her right one and practically dragged him into the clothing store. At least inside the store, she could hide behind the various racks of clothing. As soon as they were inside, she pulled him over to a quiet area in the shop. She released his hand and breathed a sigh of relief. "I hate you," she mumbled to him.

In response to this, he let out a quite chuckle before responding, "I very much doubt that. I didn't think so many people would stare."

"Yeah right, you knew very well about that Edgar. I wouldn't be surprised if you had hired those people to stand there and stare just so you could embarrass me," she countered, crossing her arms over her chest. "I don't like having so much attention, and these items of clothing make us stand out very easily."

"Oh, you don't favor attention? What about all the attention that I give you? I'm sure that you enjoy that," he teased, as another soft laugh escaped his lips. "Besides, why else would you have brought us to the quietest place in the store?" he questioned, indicating how they were the only ones in that particular section.

"Well, I wanted to get away from people and not for that reason," she argued, pouting a bit. When she noticed the skeptical look that crossed his countenance, she rolled her eyes and walked off to another part of the store. She heard Edgar following after her. Soon he grabbed her right arm with his left hand and directed her to the women's clothing section.

They received a few more stares, and (f/n) did her best to ignore them. Instead of focusing on the stares, she examined where Edgar had brought her in the women's section. Of course, it was the area with the dresses. Granted, all of the dress looked to be high-end. Just one of those dresses would cost well over a hundred dollars.

Personally, she really didn't want him to spoil her, especially if everything was going to cost an exorbitant amount of money. So, when he handed her a pale pink dress, which had a delicate belt of pink roses, she glanced at the price tag. Just as she expected, it was ridiculously priced. The dress she was wearing at the moment was most likely incredibly expensive as well.

"Edgar, can't I try on something a little more casual. This is too much," she tried to persuade; taking the dress from him and putting it back where he got it from.

"I told you that I would spoil you. Besides, that dress would look lovely on you."

"But it's expensive. You really don't have to go all out on me, Edgar."

Sighing, he picked back up the pale pink dress. "Take it and try it on. I told you not to protest. Don't worry about the price; it's irrelevant."

Understanding that he wasn't going to yield to her request, she reluctantly took the dress and headed over to one of the changing rooms. She pulled the curtain over it and changed out of the first dress. As she put on the pink dress, she didn't know that Edgar was choosing several other dresses for her as well as some matching pairs of shoes. To him this time spent shopping was vital. None of the prices mattered, for he saved up for such occasion. Ever since he was little he had dreamed of reaching this point. Now, he was there, and he wouldn't waste the opportunity. His gorgeous muse would amaze him and exceed his expectations, so only high quality clothes and accessories could grace her form. If she didn't have those, then his plan wouldn't work.
