   Pink hippopotamus, resting in her hands, was all that remained. Everything else was kept in the boxes and was going to soon be out of her possession. Granted, her clothes were already in her room, and her toiletries were placed in the bathroom. Edgar had managed to convince her to keep practically nothing. Most of the time, he mentioned that her room décor didn't fit the theme of her new room. It would look out of place and do you really need it were some of the things he would say.

The other stuffed animals hardly would throw the room's theme off. They were stuffed animals for goodness sake, yet she was just holding onto her hippopotamus. Surprisingly, Edgar put up no resistance to her keeping it. In fact he had a strange look cross his countenance when he examined it. (F/n) had no idea why he inspected it with such intensity, but he refused to answer her curiosity.

Letting out a sigh, she lay on her back and permitted her hippopotamus to just sit on her midsection. She was quite exhausted from the day's work, which consisted of moving the boxes around to get to others. Likewise, she had to have Edgar examine every item. How she had any patience left to deal with him was beyond her.

"You know that I can't allow you to sleep on the foyer's ground, (f/n). Now, get up, and we'll get some dinner," Edgar voiced, as he leaned against the left railing of the stairs.

"Can't you just bring the food in here? I'm exhausted. Unlike someone in this room, I wasn't able to sit on a sofa the entire time. I had to move boxes around and display over a hundred items. Honestly, I had to hold up some of those items for over five minutes, which wasn't necessary for you to inspect them," she replied, still lying on the floor.

"Some of your tiredness is coming from the fact that you didn't eat breakfast or lunch. Now, whose fault was that?"

"Well, I wasn't going to eat food that you licked," she stated, after rolling her eyes at his comment.

"I was just making sure it would be acceptable for you. Is that such a crime?" he questioned with mock hurt.

Glancing over at him, she saw him place his right hand over his heart, as though he was fatally wounded by her response. She just rolled her eyes again before looking away from him and closing her eyes. Right now, she just wanted to sleep; she would eat later. This plan didn't succeed in the slightest, though. Instead, she felt a tug on her right arm. Next, she found herself being moved across the tile floor.

Startled, she opened her eyes and peered upwards and behind her to find Edgar dragging her across the floor. Gripping her hippopotamus in her left hand, she made sure that it didn't fall off of her. Once it was secured, she yelled at him to stop, but like usual he didn't listen. "Edgar, I'm not some toy you can drag around! If you want me to eat dinner so bad, I'll go with you. Just release my arm!"

"Too late, (f/n)," he uttered. "You're going to be a terrible assistant if you're not going to follow my requests. It's only your first day, and I already have to get after you."

"Well, you're not an agreeable boss. What boss drags their employee across their home's floor?" she countered, as they came closer to the dining room.

"I do. Besides, you're not just an employee. You're my personal assistant, so you're treated differently."

"Yeah, because that's such a good thing," she muttered to herself. Seriously, how was she supposed to know that the man, who crafted beautiful creations, was a near intolerable individual? She wondered if he was like this as a child as well. What did he even look like as a child? There weren't any pictures of his family and him in the home. Likewise, she hadn't even seen his brother. It was only her first full day of being in Edgar's home, but she expected to see his brother at least once.

Of course, she knew what his brother looked like from the company's commercials, but it would still be interesting to meet him in person. Besides, he might be more tolerable than Edgar. She might be able to have a decent conversation with someone, who wouldn't tease her continually. There was the house staff, but none gave her even a glance. The waiter, who served them dinner, didn't even look her way anymore.

For example, when he served lunch to Edgar, earlier in the day, he completely ignored her. She tried to be friendly and smile at him, but he appeared to not have even noticed that she was there. It was as if she was invisible to their eyes, and it was utterly frustrating.

Her thoughts were interrupted, however, when she felt her arm no longer being tugged on. Still, Edgar had courteously just dropped her arm onto the dining room floor. So, that impact was less than pleasant. After rubbing her right arm and shoulder, she sat up and proceeded to sit in her chair, while Edgar took his seat. Dinner was served soon afterwards.

                                                                        ~~~~~~~~~~
Rolling over onto her right side, she slowly opened her (e/c). After a few blinks, she gradually adjusted to the faint light coming into her room. Obviously, she hadn't shut the curtains as well as she thought. Thus, she moved onto her left side and looked over at the window. There was indeed a space between the curtain panels, and the morning light didn't lose its opportunity to shine through it.
Groaning that she couldn't determine the time, she just decided to go back to sleep. She quickly changed her mind, though, when she remembered what happened yesterday morning; she wasn't going to let that occur again. With this in mind, she forced herself to get up and out of bed.
Speedily, she went over to her dresser to change out of her pajamas, which were no longer borrowed. Once she was out of her night clothes, she put on an orange v-neck, black shorts and her maroon slippers. Setting her pajamas on her bed, she went to leave her room. She was curious, though, as to why Edgar hadn't waked her up? Perhaps, he had asked one of the house staff to do so, but they forgot. Still, Edgar would've taken matters into his own hands, then. Likewise, she would probably be in a similar situation to yesterday. Was he still asleep, then?
Realizing this, a smile spread across her lips. She could either explore the house some more, or she could pay Edgar back for yesterday. Well, she would be able to explore the place in the future, but she might not get another chance to mess with him. Thus, the option was obvious.
Devising a plan, she left her room and quickly made her way to the kitchen. Technically, she had never been in the kitchen before, but she assumed it was near the dining room. When she reached the doors, leading to the dining room, she was met with four nearby doors. Annoyed by this, she picked the one closest to her and went to open it; it was locked. The next door she tried was locked as well.
Frowning at this, she proceeded onto the next one. Luckily, it was unlocked, but it wasn't the kitchen. It was just a supply closet, which held hand towels for presumably the kitchen and spare aprons. Thus, she shut the door and went onto the last one. (F/n) turned the knob and opened the door slowly, since she didn't know if anyone was on the other side.
Peeking inside, after she had opened the door a crack, she noticed that there was no one in the kitchen. After she opened the door all the way, she walked into the room and searched for a large bowl. Several cupboards later, she finally found one and immediately pulled it out from its home. Once she closed the cupboard door, she went over to the sink and began filling the bowl with water. She thought it should be enough to cover Edgar entirely. He would have quite the wake-up call. If they had a regular employer-employee relationship, she wouldn't be doing this. Luckily for her, their relationship was far from that.
Just as she was about to exit the kitchen and head back upstairs, she heard the kitchen door open. As if to purposely foil her plan, Edgar stood in the kitchen doorway. His hair wasn't in a ribbon but rather hung loosely around his face. The brown locks went just past his shoulders, while some still covered his left eye. Only a loose white t-shirt and loose black jogging pants covered his person. There was nothing on his feet. Overall, this was the first time she had seen him in such casual dress.
Scratching the back of his head slightly, he asked, "So, (f/n), what are you doing in the kitchen so early?" His gaze turned onto the bowl of water in her hands, and he raised an eyebrow at this.
Not expecting to get caught in the middle of her scheme, she quickly thought of an excuse. A moment later she brought the bowl to her lips and took a huge gulp of water. After she accomplished this, she set the bowl on the counter and responded, "Just getting a morning drink. What else would I be doing?"
"Oh, and you didn't think to get a glass? There's some even on the counter," Edgar mentioned, pointing to some red glasses next to the sink with his right index finger.
"I needed more water than what those can hold," she answered, taking another giant sip of water from the bowl.
Giving her another questioning gaze, he signaled for her to continue. She gave a nervous chuckle before she took another sip and another. If only he had been asleep for a little longer.
