To say Erin was in shock would be the biggest understatement of the century. She wanted to run up to Oliver and hug him, but as soon as she had reached him, he had grabbed her by the waist and kissed her.

It was so unexpected that when he pulled away, Erin was still processing what had happened. She stared at him with her eyes wide. Oliver had kissed her. Oliver Wood had kissed her. Not only had she been crushing on him for over a year now, he had been her first kiss.

"I- uhm ... I'm sorry, I should have asked-", Oliver said awkwardly as he noticed Erin's surprised reaction. She hadn't kissed him back, just because her body had frozen up instantly. "I shouldn't have-"

As soon as Erin came back to reality and heard those words, she needed to react. She needed him to know that she was very, very happy with what he just did, so she pulled him by his quidditch robes and kissed him.

This time, Oliver was a bit surprised, but not for long. Soon, he kissed her back, trying to hold back a huge smile on his face.

Reality really sunk in when cheers erupted all around them. Erin pulled away, only to notice half the Gryffindor House staring at them, either whispering or cheering. The heat rose to Erin's cheeks, causing her to blush madly. Oliver had pretty much the same reaction.

"I should go", Erin said, her voice small. "I'll see you around. Congratulations on winning", she said and quickly got off the pitch. She couldn't hide the massive smile on her face, though. Oliver Wood had kissed her.

"So, Woody, what was that all about?" Fred asked as he smacked his captain on the back.

"Yeah, didn't quite see that one coming", George added. "Didn't think you'd ever get it through your thick skull." Oliver couldn't do much, as his head was still in the kiss, so he just shrugged and walked to the changing rooms. This had been a marvelous day.

"Erin, Erin! I need your help!", Beatrice shouted at her as she entered the common room. She grabbed her best friend by the wrist and pulled her up the stairs to their dorm room.

"What is it?" Erin asked, still smiling brightly.

"Meredith just asked me to meet her at the Great Lake in half an hour. She told me she had something very important to ask me."

"Oh, Merlin, she's going to ask you to be her girlfriend!" Erin squealed, applauding enthusiastically.

"I think so! Can you pick out an outfit for me?" Beatrice said, suddenly sounding nervous. Beatrice's closet mainly consisted of black with some yellow tones here and there. Most items were long trousers and sweaters, as Beatrice wasn't really a girly girl. That was the person who Meredith liked, though, so Erin picked out a simple long pair of black trousers, a yellow sweater and some cute brown boots from her own collection.

"You really think she'll ask me? There are like no lesbian couples at Hogwarts", Beatrice said nervously.

"Well there needs to be a first one, right? Of course she'll ask you! She's crazy about you!" Beatrice took a shaky breath, looking at her watch. Erin had never seen her this nervous before.

"Twenty minutes still. Please tell me something to distract me", she complained.

"Well, Oliver just kissed me."

It took a couple of seconds before the message had sunk in, but when it did, Beatrice stared at Erin with wide eyes.

"WHAT?!" Erin immediately started blushing again.

"Yeah, after the game. I went to congratulate him and he just kissed me!" Erin smiled brightly, not ever wanting to forget that moment. Beatrice pulled her into a tight hug.

"I'm so happy for you! Finally the boy gets some sense", she laughed. Erin was happy too, really happy.

They kept gossiping about their potential love lives until Beatrice had to leave. Erin still couldn't think straight. She had kissed Oliver Wood. She needed to take a walk to get her mind off of things. She took a quick shower and pulled on some long trousers and a thick sweater. She couldn't wait for spring to arrive, but they were not even half past February.

The castle was peaceful, as it was a Saturday. Most students spent their time studying or hanging out in the Courtyard. Erin usually walked along the Great Lake, but she did not want to interrupt Beatrice and Meredith right now.

Erin didn't know Meredith that well yet, so maybe she should get that sorted soon, since they'd most likely be dating by the end of the afternoon.

Erin panicked when she saw him a couple yards away. She quickly dove behind a tree, probably looking absolutely ridiculous, but luckily he hadn't spotted her. Oliver Wood. Erin had no idea what to say, what to do or how to act. If it was up to her, they'd also be dating by the end of the afternoon, but she was sure that he wasn't there yet. Surely he must like her after what he did just an hour ago, but Oliver didn't seem like the type to suddenly be all confident and assertive. She needed to take things slow. She wanted this to work, so she could not have a conversation already as she had no clue what to say.

"Look what we have here, Little Miss Captain", she suddenly heard. Erin cursed internally when she noticed it was Marcus Flint who was calling out for her. He had just given up her location and she wanted to hex him so badly.

Erin stood up straight, wondering what he wanted. Knowing Marcus Flint, this conversation wasn't very promising.

"I heard your new tactic. Shagging another team captain to get an advantage, really?" he said, an ugly smirk on his face.

"Excuse me?" Erin said, narrowing her eyes. Flint often gave her a bit of a hard time, such as claiming the pitch during their practice hours, but never as directly as this. Erin was a Hufflepuff, but she was not going to take shit from anyone.

"You heard me. I heard about you snogging Wood. Bit pathetic, don't you think?"

"Good thing I don't care the least about what you think", Erin spat, walking forward. She was a lot smaller than Flint, but she was not going to let him intimidate her like that.

"You should watch your mouth", Flint growled.

"Then you should leave me the hell alone. I didn't ask you to harass me."

"Oh look at that, the lovely couple is complete now." Erin looked around to see Oliver walking up to them, clearly having heard the conversation.

"Do you need help from your pathetic little boyfriend?" Flint said confidently.

"The only person who's going to need help is you after I put your arse in the infirmary for a week." Erin was angry. Who was he to call Oliver pathetic? The guy who always resulted to cheating and dirty moves to get a win. That was pathetic.

"Feisty one, I like that."

"Flint, get the hell away from her, right now", Oliver said, his jaw clenched.

"How adorable. Don't worry, I'm not interested in the little rat. You fit well together. Both lame and ugly", Flint snorted, thinking he was the absolute smartest person alive. Oliver walked up to him, ready to give him a piece of his mind, but Erin got to him first.

"What did you just call me?" she asked loudly. "You're a pitiful piece of garbage, Flint. Is this what brings you joy? Picking on younger students? That's what I'd call pathetic."

"Pathetic is the way you play quidditch. You'll never be as good as me."

"Yeah perhaps, but at least I have a bit of potential outside of Hogwarts. What are you going to do after this year, Flint? Live on mommy and daddy's money for the rest of your life. Is there anything besides quidditch you're even remotely good at?"

"At least I have a daddy. Don't think I didn't see you at the Puddlemere United game."

That hit her where it hurt. Erin bit her lip and slapped him hard across the face.

"How dare you put your hands on me, you filthy little bitch!" Flint growled. He was about to grab Erin by her sweater when Oliver intervened. He pushed him away harshly and Erin had rarely seen him this angry before.

"Don't you ever talk like that to her again", Oliver said menacingly, pulling Flint up by his shirt. "And if you touch her, I swear I'll end you."

Flint was about to say something stupid again, but fate was on his side that day, as Professor Snape walked up to them.

"Wood, let go of Mister Flint! Twenty points off Gryffindor, and Hufflepuff", he said.

"Sir! He was harassing me, Oliver was just defending me!" Erin snapped. Snape's eyes narrowed.

"Thirty points off Hufflepuff", he gritted before leaving, closely followed by a smirking Flint.

Erin wanted to test all her offensive spells on him, but she knew that would only make things worse. Her mood had taken a complete U-turn.

"You okay?" Oliver asked. "Did he hurt you?"

"No, I'm fine", Erin smiled slightly.

"Well, you were quite a badass. Didn't take you for the aggressive type", Oliver smirked. He had a good smirk, unlike despicable Marcus Flint.

"Well then let this be a warning not to mess with me", Erin said with a fake menacing look.

"I'll keep that into account."

Erin wasn't sure what to do now. Should she start about the kiss, or not say anything at all? An awkward silence rose.

"So, see you in the library for Charms on Monday?" Erin said eventually.

"Yeah, see you then." Erin nodded and left. She really hoped it wouldn't be this awkward all the time from now on.

"Oh, Miss Evans, just the girl I was looking for", Professor Sprout walked up to Erin in the hallway.

"Is something wrong, professor?" Erin asked, confused.

"I just passed professor Snape. I'm afraid I have to give you an hour of detention tonight with Hagrid", she said. Erin sighed. She hated that man profoundly.

"I swear professor, I didn't do anything wrong. Marcus Flint was picking on me again and I just told him off", she said. Technically she had slapped him, but those were details.

"I know, sweety, but you know how professor Snape is", Professor Sprout said compassionately. "But Hagrid's can be quite fun. He expects you at eight." Erin nodded defeated and slumped towards the Hufflepuff common room.
