It had now been about 3 weeks since you and Rin confessed to each other. You definitely didn't think you were dating but you weren't friends.

You guys saw each other often enough but you didn't need to see him every day to know your feelings were getting stronger.

You walked from school with a bored look on your face as always. You didn't look around, there was no music blasting in your ears. You were planning to tell your father about the things Kane said about you, but then it would lead to questions about Kane and how you found out. Then, you'd have to tell him a lie if he asked any further.

You already knew he was getting suspicious about you and Rin. Why whenever you had him over your mood suddenly changed. Why you two acted so friendly. Or why you smiled while looking at your phone.

These were all things he observed.

And Emiko observed you two too. You realized the reason she wanted Rin wasn't because she actually liked him, she just wanted to make you suffer.

She didn't care about him. It was all about taking away the people you love. And Rin was one of them.

You opened the door to another empty house. You looked around the kitchen. There was a small box on the counter.

Hm maybe mail?

It was long vertically, but short horizontally. You took a peak in the box curiously.

It was an alcohol box. The liquor sat comfortably in its box. It was half gone. You knew whose it was.

Not again.

You ran upstairs and closed the door, locking it as well. He's drinking again.

You never felt comfortable around drunk people, but you had no problem with alcohol itself.

Your father was an alcoholic when he got stressed. And he would say things to you that stung. You opened your phone.

Rin ❤️

You smiled at the messages without even realizing it.

You grabbed your bag and opened your door a little, hearing your dad shuffle downstairs, you hoped he'd be passed out or something.

You grabbed some shoes from your closet, and the shirt Rin had given you a few days ago. You washed it, so you could give it back.

You opened the window wide enough for you to get out. Once you were out, you climbed the roof until you got to your trash bins.

It was the way you always left when your parents were annoying, If you really needed to leave.

Your knees hit the hard part of the bin, it seemed to hurt more each time.

You hopped down from there and unlocked your car. You got in and drove away, blasting your music in the background.

Why is it that whenever I need to leave he knows?

He some kind of telepathic genius and I don't know?

You pulled into the driveway and opened your door. You walked to the door, ringing the doorbell.

You heard the door click, revealing a shirtless Rin. Writing on him from when you were messing around, his hair a little messy.

"Hey, you just wake up?" You pointed to his head.

"No, I just didn't comb it out." He shrugged, opening the door for you.

You took your shoes off and looked around, "Just about as empty as my place."

"Mhm. I was supposed to be here with Yame today, but she was over a friend's."

"Dang, your own sister ditched you." You laughed, following him upstairs.

"Yeah shut up." He rolled his eyes playfully at you.

You got to his room and laid on the floor. "So you ok? You sounded a little disturbed when you texted me." He asked.

"Yeah I'm fine, I'm just tired." You lied.

"Hm." He knew you were lying.

It wasn't obvious, you were good at lying but those eyes told him something different.

You sat up, he came in front of you, unzipping your hoodie and slipping it off you, "It's kinda hot in here."

You didn't think he'd do that, it kinda caught you off guard. You had a tank top under, sure it was a little showy, but nothing he hadn't already seen you in.

He pulled you onto his lap, you faced him. Yo nuzzled your face into his neck, "Wanna tell me the truth?"

"My dad's drunk again." You shrugged.

"Again?"

"Yeah."

"That's fine, stay here until you feel safe again."

He said some of the most comforting things right when you needed them.

I guess that makes me fall for him more.

"I'm not even gonna lie to you, I feel like I fall for you more and more every time I see you." You confessed.

"You're not the only one."

Suddenly, the front door opened, alarming poor Rin, "What's that?" He asked.

You got off his lap and he pulled a shirt on. He ran halfway down the stairs and came back upstairs.

This time, his expression was totally different, not as calm, more angry and troubled.

"Stupid idiot." He grumbled, pulling your hoodie back on your shoulders and zipping it up.

"Stay here for a moment." He tried sounding soft as possible but he was angry.

It made you wonder what happened and why he was so angry or what made him upset.

He came back up, "There's someone down there I don't really like, I'd prefer if you'd stay up here... but he's gonna see you anyways so might as well."

You stood up, walking behind Rin the entire time until you got downstairs, "You just had to chose the perfect time to bring him over, huh?" He grit, giving an intimidating glare to his mother.

"Sorry Rintaro I didn't know you had company." His mother apologized (which sounded more like an argument).

You took a peak from the side of where he was standing. A tall man, dark hair and lime eyes stood the door. He looked a lot like Rin.

His eyes locked with yours, you quickly looked away.

"Hello Rintaro." The man greeted.

"What are you doing here." Rin growled.

"I'm just checking on my kids."

"Yeah right, you need money don't you?"

"Rintaro!" His mother tried stopping her son.

"It's alright." The man locked his eyes back with yours, "Who's this?"

"Mine- mind your business." He reached back for you, grabbing your wrist and gently pulling you out of your hiding place.

"L/n Y/n, second year." You mumbled.

"Nice to meet you."

You noticed, he had no expression, even when his own son shot insults at him through his own calm voice.

No expression.

Even when Rin would get angry, he was always gentle with you. He wouldn't touch you aggressively. That was just another thing you really admired about him.

He pulled you over to the side and whispered, "Go upstairs, I'll be there in a minute."

You simply nodded and wen upstairs as he said.

Who was that guy, maybe a cousin.

They looked similar.

But...

That's his... father?
