Evan's POV

I stare at Callies retreating form not hesitating to follow her but before I can take another step, a voice calls me back.

"Just leave her be it's not worth it" Leah hisses whilst rolling her eyes.

I turn back to her with a glare staring at her in disbelief, Leah had a smart mouth yeah, and she normally didn't give two shits before calling out people she didn't like but this was different, Callie had done nothing wrong for Leah to act this way towards her she was just being a bitch for no reason.

Deciding to deal with her later I turn again to go after Callie who was now nowhere to be seen.

'For someone so small she walks really fast'

I turn over and head into school expecting to find her there and I do.

Her head is buried in the side of her locker hiding away her beautiful face, her body is shaking profusely clearly indicating that she was sobbing her heart out, my fist clenches at the sight and I want nothing more than to kill whoever made her feel like this all I could say was Leah was lucky she was a girl.

I walk over to her and place my hand at the small of her back which causes her to jump slightly. Her eyes widen a bit when she sees me, clearly not expecting me to be here.

I take in her state and my jaw clenches. Her eyes were a burning red and so was the rest of her face her plump pink lips were pulled into a pout as tiny droplets of water ran down the sides of her face, I instantly want to pull her closer to me and hide her face away in my chest but I refrain from doing so.

She wipes away at her tears furiously before turning back to her locker turning her head down in what looks like and act of embarrassment "w-what are you doing here?" Her soft voice calls out, it amazed me that she was still trying to be sweet even after what had happened.

"I came to see if you were okay, are you?" my hand moves to her chin pulling it up so I can have a better look at her face. Her beautiful features instantly pull into a small smile but it doesn't reach her eyes, she was clearly forcing it.

"Of course I am why wouldn't I be?" Her head shakes a bit frantically as she talks and her hands form fists at her sides jittering all around something I noticed she also did when she was anxious.

"Rosie you can tell me how you feel okay? And I know you're clearly not okay especially not after being verbally abused by someone you barely know"
She looks down at that.

"I promise I'm okay, and it's not Leahs fault maybe she was just in a bad mood people have off days sometimes it's completely fine Ev-"

"Bullshit" I scoff my voice coming out harder than intended but right now I didn't care.

She needed to learn to stand up for herself. I was tired of her constantly defending people who cared less about what they did to her.

"So what if Leah was in a 'bad mood', that doesn't give her the right to talk to you like that you need to stop giving people the benefit of the doubt Callie if not their gonna keep walking all over you do you want that?"

At the end of my short anger filled speech her eyes are more moist and her breathing picks up. I internally sigh.

'Nice going asshole'

"I-I" she inhales a bit "I don't know Evan, not everyone's bound to like me and I definitely can't force them too, and as I said before it truly isn't Leahs fault, it's no ones fault, I'm fine".

From how she's talking now it's obvious that she's not fine and as she continues to tell me that she is it's almost like she's trying to convince herself and not me.

"Please don't be mad at Leah" she blinks up at me and envelopes her small hand with my larger one taking me a bit by surprise.

Either way i'm not complaining.

"The last thing I want is to cause chaos in your friendship for no reason, especially something as little as this. I overeacted and i'm fine now so please just promise me you won't tell her i was upset"

I sigh again wanting to pick at her comment about how she 'overeacted' but I don't get the chance to because the bell indicating that lunch is over causes a swarm of students to come into the once empty hallway interrupting I and Rosie's moment.

We're standing a bit close to the doors of th cafeteria which meant the first thing every student saw when they came walking through was the two of us hand in hand.

A few sluts eye Callie flashing her looks of disgust and I glare at them, and they cower away leaving as quickly as they came. when I stare back to the girl in front of me, the one I actually care about she looks sadder than she did before probably because of the unnecessary attention and stares she was recieveing from half the population of the entire school.

I can tell she's uncomfortable now so I decide to finish our converstaion somewhere more private.

I take her hand and start dragging her somewhere and when were out of view from where we can't be interrupted she stops in her tracks.

"Wait Evan where are we going, class is almost starting"

I chuckled, she really thought I cared about class.

Cute.

Knowing she wouldn't like me pulling her out of school I decide to let her go. I pull her closer to me and cup her face with both my hands ignoring the stares of people who walked by. I didn't only shock Rosie by my actions but I shocked myself also.

My eyes proceed to roam her face and then I look into her eyes "Are you sure you're okay?'

She bats her eyes, making her look even more cute than she did before and she grins a bit before answering.

"I'm fine I promise'

I smile and brush my lips against the skin of her forehead and let go of her so she can make her way to class and I'm satisfied.

One because I avoided having to promise to her that I wasn't going to talk to Leah about what happened today.

And also because this time when I asked her if she was okay.

I could tell she wasn't lying.
