I waited until work hours was over before I made my way through the development department. The office had an open floor plan so I could see the familiar brown hair from a distant.

"You forgot something"

"How did you get in here?"

The pretty man was startled for a split second before he scowled. It was a secure building. People who don't work there would not be able to get in. Fortunately for me, I know the Owner of the building. Vic had given me the master key card to go anywhere I want. And the past year, I've been going in and out of the building like it's my personal playground.

"Do you like working here?"

I smiled even though he was glaring at me.

"Little girl_"

"Answer my question" I pressed him. "Do you like working here?"

He refused to answer and turned his attention back to his work.

"It's not a difficult question"

"No it's not" He said without taking his focus off the monitor. "But why do I have to answer you?"

Touché.

"Fine, I don't need your answer. I just need this"

His scowl came back when he saw file in my hand.

"That belong to me"

"Finders keepers" I sang – deliberately taunting.

He stared at me for a moment and then turned back around at his computer. Seeing his back, I knew he didn't want to play any games with me.

"If you stay in this place, you will never be anything more than a senior associate. You're smart enough to know that right?"

He didn't answer as he continued to type away.

"This proposal of yours, even though it's your idea, if it fails it will be your failure. If it success, it will belong to someone else"

Again he did not answer. I wasn't sure if he was really listening. Annoyed, I set the binder hard on top of his head startling him. When the file fall to the ground, neither of us reached for it.

"What do you want?"

"Come and work for me for 4 years and I'll invest in this project of yours"

He narrowed his eyes, clearly not believing what I'm saying.

"30 million dollars is what you need to start this project" I continued with my eyes looking straight into his. "It should be adequate for 8 months until other investors come on board"

When he turned and again started to type, I sighed softly. Sometime, I can't help but feel bitter that because I'm young, my words held no credibility. Meanwhile there are so many adults in the world that cheat and lies.

"Alexander Locke, don't think because I'm young, I shouldn't be taken seriously. Wouldn't it make you a hypocrite since you're facing the same treatment?"

He stopped typing.

"When you're ready to talk, call me"

I walked away not wanting to speak to deaf ears any further.

As soon as Calla left.

"Calla Lind"

Alexander Locke picked up the file to see a posted note with the name Calla Lind and a cell phone number written on it. It took him a moment before his eyes widened. That young girl was a Lind? A million question run through his mind as he wondered if she was related to the James Lind. How else could she go in and out of the office floor? Each floor are heavily secured and the only way in and out is with a key card. Depending on who you are and who you work for, your card can only access certain floors. He should have known from the start that the girl was not ordinary.

Recalling the girl's word, he set the file on his desk and stared at it. The project he had worked on for over a year now and still, no one had cared to look at it. Every day, he either have subject himself to harassment by those perverts or executives who think their time are too precious to be wasted on a greenhorn. Because he was 23 – because of his face – because of his backgrounds – because of his average degree from a mediocre university – no one took him seriously. After 3 years of hard work, he was simply given a junior position while many others of his peers were already senior associates. Recalling Calla Lind's words, he knew bitterly that he will not advance in this company.

"Alexander Locke, don't think because I'm young, I shouldn't be taken seriously. Wouldn't it make you a hypocrite since you're facing the same treatment?"

Her words repeated in his mind as he stared at the yellow posted note.
