Wrinkling her nose, the young woman woke, blinking dazedly to regain her blurry vision. As she slowly began to become conscious of her surroundings, she felt a soft presence beneath her. Closing her fingers around it, she found she lay on an unbelievably soft mattress. The blanket carefully tucked around her was also quite soft, leading her to not want to wake up. It was only in her confusion and curiosity that she opened her eyes fully, becoming more awake and aware of her surroundings.

Though she hadn't the slightest clue how she had gotten in such a luxurious room, the sight was stunning. Placing her hand over the translucent fabric hanging from the bed frame of the large canopy bed, she parted it, able to see the full sight. With golden trimming along the pristinely white walls and broad crystal chandeliers, her mouth became agape with astonishment. More gold and gems adorned the room, placed carefully on sturdy tables and wardrobes, polished and feathered to a sheen.

As she looked to her left, she noted a golden and jeweled chalice with a red liquid inside as well as a similar plate with a portion of lavish food. Silverware also lay beside it with intricate metalwork and emeralds laid in the center of them. Pausing to admire the fork, she held it up, her eyes sparkling at the sight. She then jumped in surprise when there was a knock at her door, accompanied by a well-dressed woman and a handful of caretakers behind her.

"You've awoken," she hummed, giving a soft smile to the young lady before noting the full plate beside her, "but you have yet to touch your meal?"

Giving a concerned expression, the woman stepped forward with the rest of the caretakers, all of them getting on their knees. They then pressed their foreheads against the floor, bowing in an elaborate and demeaning manner to establish great respect to the young lady that had just opened her eyes. Confused, she stared on at them with befuddlement, wondering why she was being given such grandiose treatment.

"My goddess, please, for the sake of this pitiful servant, provide yourself with ample sustenance. You will surely need the energy it will provide."

"Why?" the young woman asked, bringing her fingers to her lips while tilting her head to the right just slightly.

"His majesty is stricken with great anxiousness in hearing you have at long last returned to us. When you see him, no doubt he will keep you by his side all day...and night."

"I see. Please raise your heads then."

The caretakers acknowledged the young lady's words, bowing their heads once more when they rose. They then began to arrange for the day's beginnings as the young woman ate. As she picked up the forked with a morsel of meat and brought it to her lips, she shed tears. She wasn't certain why but it felt like she hadn't eaten anything in centuries. It was so flavorful and strangely nostalgic that she couldn't help but feel a great weight settled in her heart. The more she ate, the more questions became posed to her.

Though she had just woken up, as she looked at herself in the mirror, it was clear that she had been alive for around two decades or so. Her rich (h/c) locks stood to contrast against her clear (e/c) irises, but it looked as though she had been deprived of the necessities of life for so long. The more she attempted to remember, the more faint memories came back to her, but the only thing she could gather was that she used to wander aimlessly around, starving near death, with no real purpose. If she was there, however, had she finally found it?

The caretakers promptly readied everything for her, including a warm bath to cleanse her skin which had been sullied by dirt, mud, and blood. They carefully cleaned her skin, careful not to make direct skin-to-skin contact with her for a reason she could not yet comprehend. The smell of mulberry put her at ease and relaxed her tensed muscles which had been strained for years of being a filthied vagabond.

When exiting the bath, the young woman promptly had a towel draped around her, the caretakers continuing to dry and brush her hair, once more careful not to directly touch her skin. Dressed in a pure white tribal robe with a belt of gold and a crown of emerald flowers, the young woman stared at herself in the mirror, wondering quietly why she was suited to such a look when she had never experienced it before.

"My goddess, please allow me to lead the way. I have the esteemed honor of escorting you to his royal majesty's chambers."

The young lady nodded delicately, holding her hands together in front of her while she took graceful steps through the elaborate halls. They were no less exquisite than the room she had awoken in, and the more they walked, the more adorned outfits and elaborate objects the young woman was able to see. It was then that they arrived at a grand door, one that stood easily more than ten feet tall with intricate carvings and golden casts. A golden wolf was printed on each of the door's halves along with the symbol of a sun or moon in the sky.

The caretaker bowed before passing the young woman's safety into the arms of the guards in front of the room. They bowed on the floor, pressing their foreheads against the marble tile before they rose and opened the majestic doors in front of her, presenting her a room that was more than just luxurious. It was heightened beyond anything she had ever thought of seeing, her imagination stunned and rendered useless by the sight of it all.

Grand pillars held the tremendous ceiling up, red translucent fabric with gold embroidery wrapping around them and creating another canopy of sorts while statues of pure gold or gems poured wine. There were far more luxurious metals that adorned numerous objects and countless treasures piled around the room, but was stunning was the sight of a silver wolf laying in front of the bed that had white silk masking anything inside of it.

The wolf lifted its head elegantly, its shining fur swaying ever so slightly as the rest of its body proceeded to stand. It then proudly strutted over to the young woman before stopping and laying down at her feet. The elegant creature almost looked as though it was bowing, only stopping when she placed her hand on its head, the wolf closing its eyes to show unwavering trust in her.

As she pet it, she felt its presence exude more grace, the silver wolf's light blue eyes gleaming like the shining sky. She gave a smile at it, the being appreciative of her acceptance and affection. It bowed its head before trotting off again, looking behind him at the woman. She gave a curious look, but as it slowly blinked, she seemed to believe it wanted her to follow it. Doing as it seemed to request, she walked slowly behind it before reaching the balcony, the wolf once more bowing its head as she opened the doors.

Wind rushed past her, prompting her to place her hand in front of her to stop the shining light that emitted. But when she was able to open her eyes to the sight, she saw a mature man sitting on the railing of the balcony, staring over the greenery that stretched to the horizon and further still. His tanned skin and long white hair made him regal in nature, his tribal adornments decorated in the same gold and white she possessed. And when he turned his head to look over at her, she tensed, the wind once more rushing past her as if to give her back a fragmented memory.

"It's been a while, (Y/n)," he spoke lowly, reaching out to pull her into a tight embrace with one of his arms, the other reaching over to caress her hand, "It's about time you returned home, huh?"

"...Amara?"

At the sound of his name, the man paused and hugged the young woman tighter, resting his head on hers in gratitude. Though she was only able to recall the faint notion that the male was once precious to her, the (h/c) haired woman nonetheless felt truly at home with the man. She leaned into his embrace and shed a few tears, the man giving a small chuckle at her state of mind and the emotions she portrayed.

"Don't be like that. You once promised that you'd come back to me no matter what. Seeing you like this...it's almost like you didn't believe that or that you lied. You'd return to me every time...wouldn't you?"

The young woman cried further, clutching onto the male and almost falling to the floor. If he hadn't supported her, her legs would have given out from under her and she would have been bawling on the floor. But when he held her and placed a chaste kiss on her forehead, she felt as though she truly was home; as though she had a purpose once again. The more she cried, the more the male laughed before he was cackling in amusement.

"Come on, hun! You would have beaten me senseless if I cried so much! And to think I'd ever see you weeping like this! It's a miracle, I guess!"

There had long since been a story that was passed down through generation after generation of that land. In the era of gods, there once lived a young wolf god who was arrogant and willful. Despite not having a large role in the mortal realm, he nonetheless was able to challenge and defeat god after god, proving himself to be a thorn in the side of countless gods and goddesses alike.

He was particularly detested by the war god, Reima, whose wounded pride over his losses to the young god rendered him furious beyond all words. So, one day, when he had a daughter, he trained her to become the fiercest warrior to ever exist. She was brilliant and callous, able to overcome the barriers that her father faced, and eventually, she was presented to the rest of the gods and goddesses. In awe of her talent and wisdom, they gifted her the title "Goddess of the Hunt ", and the gods gifted her a bow made from the bark of an ancient tree and the hairs of a chimera.

The gods and goddesses celebrated the birth of a new goddess, and drank to their heart's content, singing cheers and dancing the month away. However, an uninvited individual had entered on his own accord as he had previously witnessed the aloof and mature form the young goddess had, and immediately became attached, overjoyed to see her joining the rest of the deities. When approaching her, the gods and goddesses ceased their celebration and stared with discontent and apprehension, but did not interfere. Rather, they looked to the young goddess to see how she would react.

When he presented her a celestial rabbit he had caught, the male exhibited his great interest in her, wanting her to note him as an accomplished individual. However, due to her father, the god of war and strife, and his anger towards the wolf god, the young goddess rejected his gift. Frustrated, he angrily threw the rabbit to the ground and bore his teeth. He was then met by the slap of the younger girl's wrist, rendering him speechless for a moment.

"It's insulting you don't think I can catch a rabbit such as this on my own," she had said, placing her hand on her hip while holding her new bow, "So I challenge you. Tomorrow eve when the moon is at its peak in the sky, we will compete to see who can gather the most elusive prey before it rises once more."

And just as she had declared, there was a battle between the two that was witnessed by all of the deities. As the moon reached its peak in the sky, the young wolf god had sped off, attempting to win the contest as quickly as possible. However, the young goddess simply sat on a rock, taking a sip of ambrosia every now and then. She was relaxed and calm, even as she watched the wolf god speed by her every now and then.

And just before the sun had risen in the sky, the wolf god had presented his findings to the young goddess: a night pegasus. He asked what she had managed to catch and the girl chuckled, placing down her chalice. She then looked up at the male and placed her arms around his neck, the wolf god's face paling into a faint pink. And just as the sun was about to show its full self, she responded.

"I have caught myself a silver wolf; a one of a kind pest to even the gods."

Releasing her arms from the wolf god's neck, he found she had placed a collar on him and held onto a leash. The gods watched on and clapped enthusiastically, amazed by the young goddess's efforts. Even if he had become aware of it and tried violently tugging on the leash, he could not escape her grasp, the girl only tugging it back. As she chuckled, his cheeks blushed heavily and he challenged her to another competition. However, he lost time and time again before eventually, the young goddess acknowledged his efforts. It is said that they lived together in the immortal realm for all time, but that is only the ending told to young children.

"But I really did miss you, you know," the man sighed, nuzzling the younger girl's hair affectionately, "Were you surprised to find me in a place like this?"

"I'm not sure."

"No? Lost your memories then. Well, that's not too bad. I'll just have to teach you what you love about me all over again. Maybe this time we'll cover up that nasty habit of yours where you constantly plead for me to make love to you every night."

The young woman brought her fist down on the man's head harshly, prompting him to start laughing. Of course, he knew such a bold-faced lie wouldn't work, but it did let him see that the (Y/n) he knew and loved hadn't changed at heart. She still wouldn't hesitate to give him a good spank on the ass to shut his trap. He grinned wide in pride, not regretting what he had said. Besides, he could see that coy smirk on her face even if she tried to hide it.

"You're the wolf god," the younger woman stated, trying to let it sink into her mind and affix itself, "If so, why are you not with the rest of the gods? Did you get on their nerves again?"

"Mm," the man whined a bit, shaking his head, "babe, I promised you I'd be a good boy for your dad. It's just that you were the one to tell me that I seemed like the type to be here and rule over the mortals. So I came here, and now I'm their king."

"I told you that?"

"You also told me how handsome I am."

"Yeah, you are, aren't you?"

Speechless, the wolf god's cheeks blushed a bright red and he wavering darted his eyes away. He looked back to find her gaze lingering on his form, a smile spreading from ear to ear. At the very least, he was glad that she was still somewhat attracted to him. If he had to win her over all over again, it may have proved too much even for his determined personality. Chuckling, he placed a kiss on the girl's cheek.

"You called me stunning, too."

"Don't push your luck."

"And sexy."

"I'm warning you."

"I'm getting all riled up," the male cooed, biting down playfully on the girl's neck while she slapped at his chest.

Relieved to finally have her in his arms again, the man picked her up and joyfully sat her on the sofa, presenting to her the bow she treasured so dearly in her past life. She took it into her hands with a confused expression, but the feelings that she could not suppress with the mere idea of death flooded her heart. She held tightly onto the object and treasured it dearly, a smile etched onto her mature facial features.

"Would you like to go hunting, (Y/n)?" the man asked, giving an adoring expression to the female.

With a confident grin, the young woman chuckled and held tightly onto the bow, standing up before pulling the string of the bow back. It felt natural to her, very much so that it put her at ease. And when she released the string, though there was no arrow, it sent a pleasurable tingle up her spine. Her smile spread further and she looked up at the male with a beam, gladly accepting his invitation.

It had been so long since she'd been in such a lush area, and further still when she had the luxury to be able to enjoy it. The silver wolf she had seen earlier followed after the two, trotting along with both great interest and great loyalty. The young man stood next to him, petting him gently as he watched the (h/c) haired woman gaze at the animal tracks in front of her. She was carefully debating what animal she wanted to hunt after and which tracks were fresh enough to follow. The sight was wonderfully nostalgic.

The young woman then set off towards tracking a bear, rushing along with quiet footsteps after the trail the beast had left behind. She could not resist smiling lovingly at the feeling of returning to her original roots. It was what she was born to do. Hunting was her greatest love, and though the wolf god following along behind her felt envious of her for not showering him with that love, he was nonetheless given comfort at the sight of her so free.

She sped through the forest with near quiet footsteps, feeling the wind rush past her face. Memories resurfaced of her enjoying the act with her steed - a noble and regal stag. They used to spend entire weeks on the surface of the mortal world, hunting and enjoying the crisp air together. Oftentimes, the wolf god would also tag along, uninvited, but welcome nonetheless. As she looked back at him, it felt even more nostalgic.

It wasn't long before they encountered the bear who was large in stature and ferocious in nature. It roared with animosity and heightened itself to look more intimidating, but the young woman was only excited by the challenge it posed. Drawing an arrow, she gave a chuckle, releasing it swiftly, the sharpened point lodging itself in the bear's left eye. Roaring out, it charged at the young woman, and though she was more than swift enough to avoid it, the wolf god seemed to desire attention, scooping her up in his arms and jumping up to the trees.

"Impudent dog," (Y/n) scoffed playfully, wrinkling her nose.

"Been a while since I've heard that. And I was beginning to miss being verbally abused all the time, too."

"Verbally? I have a faint feeling I constantly beating you upside the head to shut you up."

The wolf god smirked, looking awfully smug as if the opposite had been true. But he was just pleased to see that her memory was coming back to her slowly. Maybe she just needed to see him to regain her thoughts and cure her amnesia. Reincarnation took a toll, especially on a young goddess like her. He chuckled as she jumped from his arms back to the large beast, launching arrow after arrow. And when the bear toppled over and took its last breaths, the man whistled, the silver wolf happily dragging the bear back to the temple.

The young goddess spent the rest of the day hunting, the wolf god right behind her. She had never looked so happy, delighting his heart immensely. Even when the sun had set, replaced by the moon, and they returned together, he put her down to sleep with great amusement. The silver wolf had curled up beside her, leaving no room for the wolf god, but he didn't mind. He would just push him off later. In the meantime, however, he still had a fair bit of work to do.

"I don't understand," a young man said, addressing the wolf god, "Why aren't you looking for a cure for the goddess?"

The wolf god looked up with a disheartened smile and rested his chin in the palm of his hand, staring at the man. He couldn't help but chuckle. It made sense for the man to be ignorant of what had truly happened. After all, the humans were not yet aware of the gods' disappearance or of the young goddess's curse. He was the only one who knew the truth, not that it was a heavy thing to shoulder.

In truth, the rest of the deities were not pleased with the wolf god. He had been causing a disturbance for millennia and had taken their youngest
