⁂⁂⁂
"Why are you pacing?" I say to Freya, but she hardly spares me a glance as she walks around the oddly spacious closet.
"I can easily just steal a pair of Jordan and Ian wouldn't even notice." She speaks with a light laugh, but it was more to herself.
"You know we are supposed to be making out right?" I say teasingly, involuntarily running my eyes over her back view, since she's faced against me.
That skirt.
An inaudible laugh left my lips as I witness her pause for a second, before finally looking back at me. This is the first time she's looking at me since we got into the closet.
"We are not doing that." Freya states.
"Yes ma." I reply obediently and she laughs lightly.
She should laugh more.
"So what do you wanna do?" She makes her way towards me, but settles at the opposite side, a far distance from me.
"I don't know." A shrug follows after her reply.
"Anything, nothing." She sits on the floor with her eye contact anywhere else but on me.
If she's to look directly at my eyes, I think she would be creeped out by how my eyes are surveying her and her movements like a CCTV camera.
"Well I don't wanna do nothing." I follow her and sit on the tiled floor too, directly in front of her with a little space between us.
"What are you doing?" She chuckles with a raised brow. I try my best to keep my eyes from her chest that's drawing my attention.
Don't look, you fucking pervert!
"What are you doing?" I return her question in whisper and she laughs again.
"You should laugh more." And I said it out loud.
Freya tilts her head, a smile lingering on her lips. "I guess you've watched me quite enough to notice I don't laugh often."
"What---" I start, but she cuts me off.
"The side glances, the constant stares. I'm not stupid or oblivious Cade." She points out matter-of-factly and I laugh nervously in response, mindlessly running my fingers through my brown curls.
"I--" I part my lips to speak, but her eyes following the movement on my hair made me want to savour the look on her face much longer.
You need to stop!
"It's not my fault my eyes can't stay away from you." At this point, I have no control of my words.
Her reaction to my thoughtless statement is even more unreal. Her enchanting hazel eyes has widen and her small heart-shaped lips are parted.
She blinks twice cutely like she can't believe the words I just uttered.
"Why'd you do that?" She questions, causing my brows to furrow in confusion.
"Do what?"
"That day at the supermarket, why'd you touch my nose ring and say 'I like that'?" It takes a second for me to recall the day and once I did, my smile was unstoppable.
"Because I did. Because I do." I smirk and she scoffs. I expected her to give some kind of response, but she said nothing.
"Stop staring at me like that Cade." She says after some while.
"I wasn't staring at you. I was staring at your nose ring." I try to cover up my embarrassment from being caught by her. But I'm actually really not embarrassed.
She's worth looking at.
God! Zayn will kill me.
"Well my nose ring is on my face, so technically, you're still staring at me." She points out. I notice how she turns tensed when I stare at her.
Do I make her uncomfortable?
"Fine." Our awkward/non-awkward silence grows again, but thankfully it was short-lived.
"Why does seven minutes feel like seven years?" Freya drags out tiredly and yawns, stretching her arms as well.
"Is staying around me so bad?" She snaps her head at me. It was meant to be a funny rhetorical question but by her expression, she didn't take it that way.
"I didn't mean--" She starts but painfully gets cut off by the door bursting open, along with Ian's voice.
"Time's up lovebirds." I chuckle at his words but Freya seemed to be relived that the time is finally over.
She stands up and walks out of the closet in speed, muttering, "finally," without looking at me.
Does she really not like being around me?
Saying I don't feel a slight bit of hurt will be a lie cause I do. Still, it's best I stay away from her.
I left the closet and sat back in the circle. Ophelia had left my side, now sitting besides Freya. Even when I tried to not look at her, I still failed terribly.
"So we're gonna play truth or dare now." Dylan announces, bringing a bottle to our center.
"I'll have the honours." He made a dramatic bow, causing us to laugh before he spins the bottle.
It spins, then stops pointing at Jacob. They both flash each other a traumatized look and mutter, "fuck no!" in unison.
He spins again, slowing down and finally lands on Ophelia.
"Someone punch me." Dylan whispers. His eyes widen in disbelief. It's very obvious that he's into her.
Ophelia mutters something under her breath with her eyes shut, before looking up at him with a forced smile.
"Truth or dare." He sounds like he still can't believe what is happening. I mean, Ophelia is a beauty but I'm strangely more invested in the brunette that is sitting beside her.
You better not be dumb Cade.
"Dare." Ophelia's confidence and devious smile makes Dylan gulp audibly.
He looks at Jacob with a pleading expression--- which is asking for his approval. One can clearly see the crave for her in his eyes.
All the guys look at Jacob because we understand what it means. 'My best friend doesn't hit on my little sister code/rule.'
Well technically, they are twins but Jacob clearly sees her as his younger sister. Although, Ophelia is older by five seconds. That's what she told Zayn and I.
Jacob's face was pretty much blank at first, then he also looked like he was contemplating something.
"We don't have all day guys." The red-haired girl, Ariel, no April announced.
Finally granting Dylan's greatest wish, Jacob gives an approving nod. Dylan smiles and turns back to Ophelia, who now has her attention on her phone.
He clears his throat to get her attention and I laugh lightly. He really looks like his life depends on anything he wants to dare Ophelia to do right now.
"I--I dare you to make-out with me." His eyes never leaves hers. She furrows her brows then chuckles.
"Really? I thought it'd be something way more harder or more impossible than that." She starts making her way over to him.
"Well if it's what you want, then fine."
The light sound of Freya's laugh drags my attention to her. It would've never been dragged back because my attention is originally always on her.
Okay seriously, you need to stop.
Do you really wanna lose your brother or friendship?
Fine. I'll stop. I'll try to stop.
Why does my mind always have to be the enemy?
Everyone cheers and whistles stupidly as Ophelia and Dylan really give out a make-out session for us to watch. By the time their lips parted, they were both breathing heavily.
"Not bad." Ophelia says to Dylan with a grin before going back to her previous position.
"Are you alright dude?" I ask Dylan with a chuckle. He looks like he's in a trance.
"Did that just happen?" He mutters to himself.
"Yeah it did." Jacobs inputs. "And I painfully just watched you swallowing my sister." Dylan comes back into reality at that and laughs.
The game continued and it was Zayn's turn to play. He throws me a sharp look as he took the bottle to spin, while I tried to suppress my laughter.
Zayn is in-between shy and cool, but fun when least expected. I hardly know which side of him he puts off around these people. But he's one of the best and most loyal person I know.
And that's enough reason for me to stay away from Freya.
The spinning bottle stops in front of April. "Truth or dare?" He ask.
She pauses for a moment before replying, "truth." He looks at Ophelia, then back at April with a curious look on his face.
"Why did you guys stop being friends?" Zayn's question seemed to create a bit of tension that arose very quickly and too easily. April's face hardens, while Ophelia released an exhausted breath.
April looks directly at Ophelia before replying, although we thought she wouldn't.
"Because Ophelia is an asshole." Hurt was written in her eyes as the utters the words.
"Hey my sister is a lot of things, but an asshole isn't one of them." Jacob defends almost immediately.
"Y'all better figure your shit out and stop throwing unnecessary shade to one another. You guys were best friends for fuc--" He continues, but Ophelia cuts him off.
"Thanks J but it's okay." She says calmly.
I obviously don't know what happened between them, but it looks serious from how April's whole demeanour just changed.
I'm sure everyone was expecting a comeback from Ophelia, but she just stared at April for a while. April was still staring at her, before she looked away and gulped down her drink in her solo cup.
I divert my eyes to the person I've been refusing to look at to find her deep in thoughts too. Probably something that has to do with April's response.
"Oh come on guys, the night is still young and we haven't even gotten someone to do an outrageous dare yet." Daya tries to lighten up the mood and successfully it works.
She takes the bottle, spins it and it slows down till it stops at me.
Well well....
"Truth or dare new guy?" Daya utters with a grin.
Unconsciously, my eyes darts to Freya but she is already looking at me. My insides did a little something at the fact that her attention is now on me.
I always pick dare but this time, I decide to go with....
"Truth."
a/n:
~ Long time guys. I didn't hear anything from you guys and I'm honestly hurt, but it's okay.
Cade is finally back in it's normal updating routine ( random still ) but I've started writing again, after taking a break from it.
