"I'll stop home to get my math and geometry textbooks. I forgot to carry them yesterday." I tell Jacob as we leave their house, heading to his car parked outside.

"Sure." He responds.

Ophelia is already waiting for us at the car.

"Which bag?" She ask when I get to her, holding up two small purses in different colours. She can't decide the one she wants. I tell her to go with the forest green bag since it suits her outfit better.

We enter the car and Jacob starts the engine. "I'm breaking up with Daya today." Jacob says suddenly as he starts driving.

"You're done being her fuck buddy?" Ophelia blurts out mindlessly and Jacob throws her a sharp look.

"She was not my fuck buddy. We actually loved each other." He defends himself, but with a sad tone.

"Loved? You don't love her anymore?" I ask with my brows pinched together. He looks back at me with a sad look, but didn't respond.

"More like she doesn't love him anymore." Ophelia spits out again, playing with her long fixed nails.

"I told you your relationship with her is one sided." Ophelia says. Jacob looked like he wanted to say something, but he stops himself.

"Yeah J, your relationship with Daya wasn't healthy at all." He breaks into a mocking laughter at my addition.

"And you think I'm gonna listen to anything you guys say?" He looks between Ophelia and I.

"What's that suppose to mean?" Ophelia retorts. I casually just leaned back into the car seat, waiting for their argument to start. Jacob takes a turn, leading to the street where my house is.

"You don't expect me to take dating or love advice from someone who changes guys like toys and someone who hasn't dated anyone in her life for relationship advice." The last part of his statement obviously referring to me.

I take my phone out of my pants pocket, choosing to do anything, rather than say something in response to his statement.

Ophelia looks back at me with a look saying 'her brother has gone loco'.

"First of all, we didn't advice you, we stated facts dumbass." They went on bickering until we got to my house.

I get out the car. "I'll be back in five." My announcement to them was useless, cause they were still shouting their faces off.

My parents were in the kitchen when I got inside my house. "Morning Mom, morning Dad!" I yell, immediately going to my room.

"How was your sleepover?!" My Mom yells back. I grab my books that were already on the table, before heading back down.

I walk up to them, shoving my books in my bag. "Good as always." Her usual morning hot coffee stem evaporates out of her mug as she sips it.

"You don't plan on going to your first day of school without a good luck hug, right?" My Dad drags me to his side, engulfing me in a tight hug.

"You're squeezing me like a sandwish Dad." I'm going to turn flat in all sides from the amount of strength people hug me with.

"Awww." My Mom joins in, adding to the torture. I had to squeeze my way out of their strong hold.

"I gotta go." I hurry back outside before they could protest.

"We're suppose to take a picture of you." They both came outside, watching me as I walk to the car.

"Not gonna happen!" I yell it clearly for both of them to hear.

"Hi Mr and Mrs Carson." Ophelia smiles sweetly, waving at them. They've finally stopped bickering.

"Lovely to see you Ophelia and Jacob and I've told you to call me May." She insists. "Have the best day guys!" My Mom wishes us.

That's definitely not gonna happen. For me at least.

I close the car door behind me, before Jacob began pulling out of our driveway.

"Bye Mr and Mrs Carson!" Jacob waves at them.

"Simon." My Dad points out.

They both stood like parents sending off their children to college, with big smiles on their faces.

My Mom raises her free hand that wasn't holding her coffee mug to wave back at us, till we finally leave their sight.

"Can you stop humming?" Ophelia unnecessarily snaps at her brother, who's harmonizing to The Weekned's Call out my name as he drove into our school's parking lot. He's a good singer but Ophelia finds his voice annoying.

"This is the last time I'm driving the both of you to school." He kills the car engine and we all step out of the car.

"I don't know why you guys even ride with me. You both have your cars." Ophelia and I shrug in unison unplanned.

"You drive better." Ophelia points out to Jacob, checking her nails for the hundredth time.

"Too lazy." I stifle a yawn.

They both stare at me, before uttering, "we know!" in unison and I laugh.

We walk into the school building, meeting the mass of students walking disorderly around, going in all directions. We spot the basketball team walking in their usual number, along side one another.

"See you guys later." Jacob says, then walks off to them.

Ophelia and I make our way to our lockers. Her heels clicking the floor easily catches everyone's attention like always, but she walks pass them without sparing anyone a glance.

"I think someone is drooling Lia." I laughed, looking over to a guy who is staring at Ophelia with his mouth hung open.

She laughs but doesn't say anything. Just when we put our stuff in the locker and take out the things we needed, April and Daya emerges the halls.

April is the self-proclaimed popular girl, Queen B who took it upon herself to compete with Ophelia, even if Ophelia is none of those things or actually cares about them.

People often label Ophelia like that because of her family, her attitude and her style. But Ophelia actually has never fought or cared for high school stupid spotlight. Infact she hates it, we both do.

However, after what happened between Ophelia and April in Sophomore year, April created this sad idea in her head to compete with Ophelia in almost everything.

"Hey guys." Ophelia sends a little smile their way as they approach us. Daya was busy with her phone, chewing her gum loudly but raised her head when she notices us.

"Hey gurls." She showcases a kind smile. Data is average in height with her long braids reaching down to her butt. She's really nice and friendly, well except the aspect of dating. Yeah she's sorta brutal in that area. Which is a result of Jacob's outburst earlier.

"Hey." I mutter, leaning against the lockers with the hood of my hoodie almost hiding my face.

She goes back to her phone, while all this time April was staring at Ophelia with distaste. Her ginger bangs looks good on her though.

"April." Ophelia ignores her stare, but April only scoffs in response before stomping off, her heels creating a less pleasing sound.

If she hates her so much, why come up to her then?

"See you later." Daya rush after her still staring at her phone. I hope she doesn't bump into someone.

"I see she's still not over you." I push myself off the lockers, watching both their figures go in another direction.

"Guess so." Ophelia agrees.

My phone starts ringing and it was coming from my locker. How did it get in there?

I open my locker to get it, before hearing Ophelia mutter "Wow" staring straight ahead of us.

I follow where she's looking at to see Zayn and another guy walk into the halls.

They were both talking to each other mindlessly as their tall figures pass everyone, while everyone is staring at them like creatures that just fell from the sky.

"That's the guy I saw on his page yesterday." She refers to the guy walking with Zayn. The one she probably stalked.

"Who is he?" Ophelia ask like I have any idea. I mean this is the first time I'm seeing him too.

"Shouldn't I be the one asking you that since you stalked him last night?" She didn't look bothered that I used the word stalk at all.

"I couldn't even stalk him if I wanted to. His account is private. Who still keeps their account private?" She frowns. I laugh mockingly at her. She responds by sending death glares my way.

"Is he new? Does he go here now? I haven't seen him before." Ophelia just keeps asking me question I have no clue off.

I raise my brows, amused at her interest in the new guy. "I thought you wanted to change your strict this semester Lia?"

"I didn't say I wanna fuck him Freya." She throws me a pointed look.

"I'm just curious." She adds, brushing her hair to the back more smoothly.

I give her a lopsided grin. "Your curiosity has usually led up to casual hookups and one night stands." I state with a little laugh. She had no comeback, so she narrows her eyes at me instead.

They both walk almost passing us, before we hear Zayn's voice.

"Hey Ophelia, hey Freya." He waves with a little smile, momentarily looking away from the other guy. My face struck with surprise. I didn't even know Zayn knows my name. Ophelia's for sure but not mine.

"Hi?" Ophelia was surprised like me. The new guy just smiled at us briefly before they both walk pass us. I don't pay attention to the once over he gave me.

"Okay is it just me or Zayn got hotter?" I roll my eyes at her typicality. From the new guy to Zayn.

"Ophelia!" She is never gonna change.

"What?" She looks at me cluelessly as we started moving to our classes.

"Zayn has always been hot though." I comment and she lets out a loud, "right!"

"So are you going for him too?" I raise a questioning brow at her.

"No. I got my eyes set on the new guy." Something lights up in Ophelia's eyes as she utters those words.

"Sure you do."

Ophelia and I each went to our different classes. Like every first day, the day was boring, but that's like everyday for me. Students are chit-chatting and making unnecessary noise, while our teacher is absent.

The cool wind from the window still managed to slip under my oversized hoodie. I'm seated at the back chair in the last roll.

I lay my head on the desk with my earbuds in my ear. I'm starting to regret my decision of coming to school this first day. I should've slept at home.

Mr Walter's voice booms in the class just as Marshmallow and Khalid's Silence stops.

"Alright class." His usual bored tone calls out our attention and everyone quiets down. I stop the next music before raising my head.

There, next to Mr Walter stands the new guy with both hands tucked in his jeans pocket.

"We have a new student and he will be joining us from--" he cut himself, "just introduce yourself Mr Night." Mr Walter went around his desk to sit with an exhausted look on his face.

Sometimes I wonder between two of us who is more lazy.

"I'm Cade." I move my eyes from Walter to the new guy, hearing his voice.

"Cade Night." His voice sounds soft and so is his smile.

"I moved here this summer and....yeah I guess that's it." He lifts and drops his shoulders for a simple shrug. Whispers raises between the students almost immediately.

"You can go take your seat Mr Night." Mr Walter gestures his hands into the classroom.

There are three vacant chairs. Cade sits on the chair closer to mine, only it being a seat ahead of mine in the next roll.

Everyone stares at him like a movie, but I'm sure he didn't notice them or he just ignored them, because he barely looked into their direction.

I roll my eyes when I see girls already eye-fucking him just like they did at the hallway earlier. I take my eyes off Cade, looking ahead of me instead.

My hands are on my desk as I play with the pen between my finger, humming quietly to my music, bouncing my head lightly.

This is basically what I do when I come to school. I either sleep or play songs and sing loudly with them in my head.

"Hey." I hear Cade say, but didn't look to see who he's talking to.

"You're Freya right?" At my name, I slowly turn my head to meet his face. I didn't know I was the one he was speaking to. My hood was blocking my view from the side.

Some strands of his curly brown hair falls to his forehead. His soft grey eyes like the clouds on a bright day, stares back at me before I realized I haven't given an answer.

My brows furrow as to how he knows my name, then remembered he must've known from the time Zayn called out me and Ophelia's names.

I nod my head, though I still verbally responded. "Yeah."

He smiles a little before giving a little nod, then looks away, leaving me to mentally question what that was about.

I lay my head again to sleep until lunchtime. When I woke up, he wasn't there and so was the rest of class.

I didn't even hear the bell ring.

Mr Walter was with his phone and earphone in his ear when I got up to leave the class.

"You rest good?" He ask without looking at me.

"Not really." I drag out, almost exiting the class. He's well acquainted with my habit. I heard a simple "okay" from him, before I step out fully.

I know Ophelia is already at the cafeteria, so I just head there straight. I spot her on a lunch circular table and walk up to her after taking my food from the lunch ladies. There was no line to stand through, thankfully.

"Where have you been?" Ophelia didn't let me sit before attacking me.

"I was resting." My hand found my neck, "although it came out bad cause my neck hurts." I hold up my burger and take a bite out of it.

"What are you looking at?" She wasn't looking at me anymore and I doubt she even heard me.

"More like who am I looking at." I follow her eyes to find she's looking at Zayn and Cade. Both of them busy chatting away at their table alone.

"Okay I'm starting to worry about you." She looks at me with furrowed brows.

"Why?"

"I know you said you wanna change and stuff, but I don't want you turning into some obsessed stalker for guys you hardly know."

Her lips spread into a grin. "So I'm allowed to do it with guys I know?" I breathe out.

"Just be you Lia, that's all I'm saying." I take another bite out of my burger.

I look over to the guys again and that's when I noticed all the stares they are getting from almost everyone in the cafeteria, both guys and girls.

"Cade is somewhat the center of attention and he doesn't even know it " Ophelia looks at me sharply.

"Cade?" I nod my head.

"Yeah the new guy, that's his name." She looks at them then me. "How do you know?"

"We had class together." My shoulders give a little shrug.

"Did you guys like talk or something?" She's so curious that it's getting creepy.

"Yeah something like that. Just heys." She looked like she wanted to say something but went against it.

We went back to our lunch and soon after, we were back to class. The day just went on boring like I anticipated.
