"Are you ever gonna tell me what happened between you two or?" Ophelia gestures her fore finger between Cade and I.

I shook my head with a frown sitting on my face. It's been a week since the shit Cade pulled at school.

The four of us are in our usual meet up spot which is the diner, after we closed from school.

Zayn and Cade are seated opposite Ophelia and I. Cade has headphones on and his eyes are glued to his textbook and notes on the table.

This is what he's been doing since that day, he focuses on studying anytime we hang out. Not that it's a bad thing, but I didn't ever think he was the serious reading type.

Even if I didn't care or wanna notice, because I'm really mad at him, I still did.

I noticed he doesn't talk like before. He smiles way less or gives a response of 'yeah' or 'sure' anytime Zayn and Ophelia start up a conversation.

He looks distant, like he's physically here but he isn't. I don't wanna blame it on my reaction to his annoying words that caused me to slap him, because I don't regret doing what I did.

He had no right to say such things to me. What did he think? That I'm some dumb teenage girl who's gonna fall hopelessly for a guy like Kyle?

As much as I feel like punching Cade again for saying such things to me like I'm the most clueless girl on this planet, I'm worried about him.

"I don't wanna know what happened between you two." I divert my eyes from my food to Zayn at his voice. He nudges Cade arm to get his attention.

Cade takes off his headphone before Zayn continues. "But you better work it out, cause this awkward tension isn't working out for me anymore." He states, then takes a long draw of his strawberry marshmallow milkshake.

"Yeah it isn't." Ophelia chips in.

I look back to my tacos and milkshake that has been sitting in front of me untouched.

"Seriously guys what happened? It's been a week already and neither of you wanna tell us what's wrong." Ophelia utters in a worried tone.

I decided not to tell Ophelia for some reason, which is something I've never done before. I tell her everything and so does she.

I just don't think she needs to know what's going on between Cade and I or feed her desperation either. Infact there's nothing to tell in the first place.

I know the tension is awkward between us and it's very noticable and thick. I've been expecting Cade to apologise for days now, but he hasn't said a word to me.

He hasn't even looked at me.

I don't want him or what he does to affect me. I'm trying not to give a shit, but I finding myself craving to know what is wrong with him.

Goddamn it!

"And when did you become such a book-aholic Cade?" He chuckles at Ophelia's question.

Oh, so he smiles after all. She gets a laugh from him, but not me apparently.

I thought you were mad at him?

Of course I'm still mad, but it doesn't mean he shouldn't smile at me, beg for my forgiveness or talk to me even if I ignore him.

I raise my eyes to meet his face in expectation for him to avoid eye contact with me, but his grey eyes were quick to meet mine.

My heart skip a beat at the contact. I thought Cade would look away, but he didn't and I didn't either. He looks at me for some seconds, before smiling lightly at me.

I don't know what that meant, but it pissed me off. I look away from him to the window at my side. I found the empty, uninteresting view on the outside more appealing to look at than his annoying, yet beautiful face.

I literally just said I wanted him to smile at me, so why am I upset?

He hasn't apologised and he expects me to just smile at him like everything is okay?

I like the fact that I answer my own questions.

"If you guys are gonna continue like this, I'm gonna stop hanging out with y'all and you know without Ophelia, this friendship is doomed." Unexpected laughter erupts from all of us at Ophelia's declaration.

Ophelia hooks her arms with mine, before speaking.

"If you're not gonna tell me what happened, at least smile and cheer up okay?" She whispers to me, tucking the strands my hair behind my ear.

I let a forced smile spread on my lips, which she laughs to. "Yeah smile for me even if it's fake." I chuckle at her.

She knows me too well.

"Okay guys, I have an announcement." Zayn drags both our attention. Cade has gone back to his books, but without his headphone on.

"Are you gonna eat those?" Ophelia takes Cade's plate of French fries before he even responded.

"No, all yours." He says with a smile and she blows him a kiss. He chuckles in response, but I had a completely different reaction.

"What's the announcement?" I ask Zayn, interfering with whatever flirtation session that's arising between the two of them. For some reason, seeing them all mushy with each other makes my tummy turn in bad way.

"I'm throwing an Halloween party at my house on Halloween." I finally decide to take a bite of my taco.

I only which I didn't, because Ophelia's sudden squeal and attack at my side almost made me choke on my food.

I chug down a cup of water immediately, before I actually choked. Ophelia who was now disturbingly pampering Zayn's face with kisses over our table, didn't notice she almost killed me.

I love her over hyped and carefree nature but sometimes, I just wanna strangle her so furiously.

"Why the fuck didn't you tell us earlier?" She scolds Zayn after displaying parental affection towards him. He's still recovering from Ophelia's kisses by his expression. I was looking at them when I heard his voice.

"You have a little something on your face." I look at Cade and found him handing me a table napkin.

I aggressively take the napkin from him, brought my phone to my face and dab the beads of water above my lips.

"Oh now I know Cade definitely did something wrong." Zayn voices out. Him and Ophelia were looking at us and I didn't even notice. They are both usually occupied with each other.

"Cade did you say something to Freya?" Ophelia questions, clearly ready to attack him by the tone of her voice and change of her expression.

I shook my head at both of them. "No he didn't." And I'm still defending him.

I look at Cade and found him staring at nothing. I couldn't read his expression even if I wanted too.

Am I the reason why he looks like life is being sucked out of him?

Up until now, I haven't seen Cade without his signature smile on his face. I mean it's his fault why we aren't talking. He said some fucked up shit and he hasn't apologised to me.

I'm supposed to be mad at him, which I am and not care about him, but I know I cannot not care.

"Yeah Zayn, why didn't you tell us earlier?" I change the subject. I can feel the stupid awkward atmosphere moving around all of us like a bad smell.

I look back at Cade even if I didn't want too. My eyebrows immediately furrow when I witness him still staring at nothing in particular.

What is wrong with him?

"I thought I would change my mind, that's why I didn't say anything."

"Well we all know you'll die if you try something like that, especially now that you've told me." Ophelia inputs.

"Why are you so pumped for this party Lia? You've been to hundreds of parties, how is this any different?" I take a French fries from Ophelia, dip it in my milkshake before munching it.

"This is different cause we are hosting it." I roll my eyes at her. She's so inclusive.

"Actually guys, would you like to come over to our place?" Zayn says out of nowhere.

"I don't see why not." Ophelia responds happily.

Cade and I say nothing in addition and to each other. We pack our things, pay for our food and left the Diner. Zayn drove us to the Diner, so he's driving us to his house.

Ophelia and I rode with Jacob to school after persuading him strongly. Thanks to Daya who helped us convince him.

The drive to their house was awkward and quiet. Surprisingly Ophelia and Zayn didn't say anything too in the car.

I caught Cade's eyes on me a few times through the windshield rearview mirror. I don't know if they were glances or if they were constant.

We got to their house in fifteen minutes and I waste no time in rushing out of the car. I take in a large breath and let it out.

That was really helpful.

"You okay?" I hear Zayn ask with the sound of him closing the car door.

"Yeah."

I take in the view of the house ahead of us. It's just another expensive millionaire-dollar modern house.

"Make yourself at home." Zayn tells us immediately we walk into the living room.

"I sure do." Ophelia doesn't waste time in climbing onto one of the couch.

Cade sets his backpack on the couch, before walking to God-knows-where in their massive house. I can hear his quietness so clearly, so much that it's making me uncomfortable.

"Are your parents home?" Ophelia ask after Zayn and Cade comes back into the living room.

"They are never home." Zayn responds with a chuckle.

"Wait so you guys like live alone?" Ophelia ask.

"Yeah I guess so." Zayn shrugs.

Cade sits on the couch opposite us. I notice his face hardens as he stares at his phone. I was looking closely at him until an outburst broke out from my side.

"I want a tour!" Ophelia shoots up, grabbing Zayn's hand. He laughs as she drags him.

"Okay let's go." Zayn says.

Ophelia turns to me, before they could embark on their tour journey.

"Wanna come?" She ask.

I've found comfort in the spot I'm sitting in, so I wanted to decline. But that was until I heard Cade's voice.

"Freya, can we talk?" I look at him from where he's seated. A hopeful look is written on his face.

Is he finally ready to talk to me?

Is he ready to apologize?

"Yes." I start, then face Ophelia and Zayn.

"I wanna get the house tour too."

Double update!!!
