"She isn't your daughter!" My mom shouted back, "She's mine!" I heard him growl, then shove her onto the ground and climbed on top of her as she screamed. I stared widen eyed at the scene in front of me but couldn't do anything. It was like my body was paralyzed, and my voice was on mute or something.

I couldn't move. I started to slowly move backward when my mom scream. I snapped my head up, and my eyes widen in horror. The man had his hands tightly around my mom's neck. She was trying to push him off her, but she was struggling to breathe. She kept trying to push him off as he made it harder and header for her to breathe until she stopped moving altogether. I gasped quietly, covering my mouth when her hand fell to the floor in front of me.

"Mom?" I mouthed, staring at her as tears streamed down my face. I was frozen at the sight of my mother, her eyes were closed shut, and her head was turned facing directly at me. I pressed my lips together, trying not to make a sound because the unknown man was still in the room, kneeling over my mother's body. I didn't know what he would do if he found me.

Would he kill me too?

"Get up, Nicole!" The man yelled as he stood up, standing over her. She didn't move, which made him angrier.

"Come on!" He yelled a little louder this time. She still didn't move, making me cry as quietly as I could.

"Stop playing around, Nicole!" He shouted as he grabbed her shirt, lifting her off the ground, but she just dangled in the air like a chandler.

"Nicole?" He whispered as I flickered my eyes over to the man. The man drops her, her body hitting the ground, making me jump a little under the bed. The man finally realized what he did and started calling her name as he tried shaking her awake.

"Nicole." He called, "Nicole, wake up. This isn't funny."

Nothing was working.

She didn't wake up.

"Oh sh*t." The man whispered, running his fingers through his hair, then quickly stood up. I flickered my eyes back to my mom laying there and started crying again, closing my eyes.

"Who's there?" I heard the man shout. I popped my eyes and saw him walking around to the other side of the bed.

Did he hear me crying?

I felt something grab my ankles and started to panic as he started pulling me out from under-

I gasped, wake shooting up in bed, clinging to my tank top as my alarm clock blasted throughout my room. My breathing was heavy, and I sat there trying to catch my breath. After a while, I finally caught my breath, and my panic attack slowly faded away.

I turned my head over to my alarm clock and slammed my hand on it, turning it off. I turned back around and wrapped my arms around my stomach as I sighed, sitting in the middle of my bed, not wanting to get out of bed. My head dropped, staring down at my lap as I thought about the texts from last night. I knew it was just Kian or one of the other guys trying to mess with me. They've done things like this in the past more than once, and it freaked me out. They loved laughing at me cause I would get so scared.

My thoughts trailed away when I heard a loud knock on the front door. I sighed, jumping off my bed and grabbing my navy blue gates sweatshirt on my way out of my room. I threw it on as I walked down the short hallway, then hopped down the stairs to the front door right in front of them. My hand reached for the handle, opening the door.

"Hey, Ariel," Kian said, smirking at me, standing on my doormat. He looked at me up and down, "Nice outfit. I especially like the no pants." He commented. I looked down and noticed my sweatshirt was so long; it covered my yoga shorts. My eyes flickered at him and glared as he chuckled.

"Shut up." I mumbled to myself, looking away, then rolled my eyes at him, "What are you doing here?" I asked, annoyed as I looked at him again. Before he could answer, I heard footsteps behind me. I turned around and saw Adam coming downstairs.

"Hey, Kian." Adam greeted him as he walked past me.

"Hey, Adam," Kian replied, fist-pumping with Adam. I stood there looking between my brother and Kian in confusion.

Since when were these two all buddy-buddy with each other?

"I gotta grab some equipment from the basement." Adam said to Kian as he pointed toward the kitchen, which was where the stairs to the basement were, "Then we can go to the backyard to film." He added. Kian nodded, then Adam turned toward the kitchen and walked away, leaving Kian and me alone.

I glanced over to Kian, standing there next to him awkwardly, as I heard footsteps going down to the basement.

"Since when are you and my brother, friends?" I asked, raising my elbows. He looked at me.

"Since last night when we hung out." He replied, sounding proud of himself as if he had just won a prize, then I asked him where. "We bumped into each other at the mall. Guess he was there with his girlfriend or something earlier. Anyway, we hung out for a while before the guys meet up with me." He explained.

I just rolled my eyes at him.

"Whatever," I said, then headed upstairs.

"You know I get the feeling we're gonna be seeing a lot more of each other now," Kian said from behind me. I stopped halfway on the stairs and slowly looked back at him. He was standing there with his arms crossed in front of his chest, smirking at me.

"Screw you, Kian," I replied, then ran up the stairs to my room. I ran into my room and quickly locked the door. I didn't want Kian coming into my room, and- Ugh, I didn't want to think about him coming in here. I shook my head, getting the thought out of my mind, then walked over and jumped on my bed, laying on my stomach. I glanced back at my room and sighed as my eyes flickered down at my phone in my hand. I opened my phone and started playing Halsey's Badlands album before texting Julia.

Hey Julia. Are you busying this morning?
- Ariel

I'm meeting up with Caleb.
- Julia

I sighed sadly as I read her text, then another message popped up from her.

Why? What's going on?
- Julia

Don't worry about it, Julia. It's nothing.
Have fun with your boyfriend.
- Ariel

I sent the text message, then rolled onto my back and stared at the ceiling. My eyes blinked at the bright light, then closed my eyes, sighing as I drifted off.
