I starred up at him in shock. This guy who had just broken into my house and killed my mom knew her and my dad from college. He was my dad's roommate.

They were friends with a murderer!

My breathe became heavy and I felt my heart pumping out of my chest as I scrambled backwards and stood up stumbling back, tears filled my eyes in fear of what he was going to do to me.

"Don't be afraid Ariel." He said stepping toward me.

"Stay away from me!" I screamed at him as my hands gripped onto my parents' nightstand, tightly. He stopped dead in his track immediately and stared at me, looking kind of... sad. Did he except me to welcome him with open arms after seeing him murder my mother? Just because he was my birth father?

I didn't want that MURDERER to come near me!

"I'm not gonna hurt you." He replied as if he read my mind, "You're my daughter." He added. Shivers went down my spine hearing him say that.

I was NOT his daughter.

"I don't even know who you are?" I replied shaking my head, trying to hold in the tears from this all fucking mess. I wanted to cry, but I had to stay brave... For my mom, "Besides my dad's roommate in college." I added, which I quickly realized was a mistake to say when I saw his eyes narrow as he glared at me.

"Jason Reed is not your dad." He growled, "I am." His voice was very serious balling his hands up into fits. I could tell he was angry, but nothing prepared me for what he added next.

"And you're coming with me." My body froze and my mouth dropping a little at what I heard. I stared at him with wide eyes.

What the hell did he just say? Was he- Was he gonna kidnap me?

I started shaking at the thought as my breathing started getting heavy, my heart pounding. I gripped onto the night stand tighter feeling like I was about to break through the wood. I couldn't speak; my voice was muted as I stood there terrified. I felt my head was spinning, so many question ran through my mind as I still tried to wrap my brain around everything that was happening.

To me all of this didn't feel real, but I knew it was. I knew my mom was dead and I knew I wasn't gonna let her murderer take me to god knows where.

I snapped out of my thoughts and back into reality when I heard footsteps coming closer. My head quickly popped up and saw my birth father storming toward me.

"No!" I screamed jumping onto the bed and scrambling across. I was almost to the edge of the bed when I felt my foot get caught. I whipped my head back and saw him holding onto my ankle, trying to pull me back toward him. I fought hard against his grip pulling my leg away, but he held on tight. I used all the strength I had and kicked him hard with the ball of my foot, hitting him right in the nose.

Right after my heel collided with his nose, he immediately let go moving his hands up to it as he groaned in pain. I took my chance and scrambled off the bed running out of my parents' bedroom.

I ran as fast as I could down the hall and went into my room closing the door behind me. I quickly locked the door, then turned running over to my nightstand and grabbing my phone. I ran over to my closest and hid as I dialed 911.

"911 what's your emergency?" I heard woman ask after just two rings.

"There's a man in my house." I whispered holding my phone close to my ear as I started trembling inside, "He's trying to kidnap me." I added.

"What's your address honey?" She quickly asked.

"22 Autumn Street." I answered immediately, then tears started streaming down my check at the image of him killing my mom and began to panic about what happened to me if he find me. I probably made him more angry when I kicked him in the face.

"Are you home alone?" She asked over the phone as I heard typing on the over end.

"He killed my mom." I replied as I thought about her and what he did, "Please hurry," I whispered through the phone getting more worried by the second.

"The police are on their way. Everything's gonna be okay." The woman assured me, then asked in a soft tone trying to calm me down, "What's your name sweetie?"

"Ariel." I replied in a hashed tone, "I'm only 15." I added shaking my head and crying a little.

"Ariel I'm going to stay in the line with you until the police get there, okay?" She told me. A mini smile pierced through my lips.

"Okay." I quietly replied. She began to ask me something when I heard footsteps storming down the hallway. My smile immediately faded and fear waved over me as my body started shaking.

"Ariel sweetie." I heard the woman said over the phone concerned.

"He's looking for me." I whispered my lips trembling with every word. Her voice faded as I stared at my-

"Ariel!"
