THE LAKE

"Rae."

"Yeah." I looked up from the floor.

"I wanted to ask you something." He held both my hands. "So you know how the dance is on Saturโ€”

"Park Jimin." My lips curved into a shy smile. "Why do you keep doing this to me."

"Because I love seeing you so flustered." He pinched my waist.

"So, will you be my date?" Jimin slowly spun me around.

"Of course I will." I laid my forehead on his.

"Good, because I wasn't gonna take no for an answer." He whispered, before smirking.

โ€”

Jimin swung our hands back and forth as we walked down the street. We were close to our houses, which meant it was time to say goodbye. I didn't know how long it would be until I saw him again, but I would never lose hope. "Here, let me help you." He rushed over to me when he saw me struggling to climb the grapevines that covered the side of my house.

I rolled my eyes when I felt his hand on my ass.

"Gee, thanks for the help."

"It's not my fault you don't know how to climb." He playfully muttered, before slapping my ass. "You got it?"

"Yeah, one second." I mumbled before I literally dove into my room.

Jimin gritted his teeth as he heard me knock ten things over. "You okay?" He chuckled, running his hands through his hair as he waited for an okay from me. I gave a thumbs up from the floor, letting him know that I was fine.

"Goodnight baby." He gently spoke, before turning away.

"Jimin." I whispered from the window.

"What?" He whispered back.

"I love you."

"I know." He smirked.

I rolled my eyes, before shutting my window. I laid on my comfy bed, resting on my back as thoughts started to circulate in my mind. I looked at the clock and groaned. It was two in the morning and my parents come back tomorrow. I'm gonna have to tell them about the dance some way.

MORNING
10 แด€แด

I rubbed my eyes while also trying not to fall on the stairs. I'm positive, Misses Graham was still asleep in the guest room, since I couldn't hear her sewing machine. This was the perfect time to call Brooke and tell her to come over. I grabbed the phone and dialed her number. "Brooke, hey, yeah I know I'm still alive." I answered her silly questions. "I need you to come over."

"No, don't bring your cat." I rolled my eyes. "Okay, fine. I'll see you in two minutes."

Brooke didn't live too far from my neighborhood. It was a decent walk from here to there, but was even quicker when she drove. I raced to the door as the bell loudly rung. "You actually brought your cat?"

"Yeah." Brooke mumbled as she carried her little portable cat house inside. "I told you, I promised him we'd spend the day together, isn't that right?"

"Stop talking to the cat."

"Sorry." She apologized before setting the cat free to roam around my house.

"So." She crossed her legs, and sat on the floor. "Is there anything special that went down last night."

I raised my brows as she winked at me.

"Yeah, you didn't even show up." I crossed my arms.

"But I know a little someone did." She wiggled her brows.

"How do you know Jimin came over?"

"Jimin came over?" Brooke's eyes widened. "I was just making a joke about your babysitter, but shit, this is better!"

"I thought you knew." I lowered my brows. "Isn't that why you didn't show up?"

"No, my cat was having a really bad fit so I had to spend the day with him." She casually responded.

"Is that an everyday thing with you two?" I acted interested.

"Our bond is unbreakable." Her hands formed a heart as she leaned onto my shoulder. "So, tell me what you and Jimin did last night? I wanna know every dirty detail."

"Didn't happen." I grinned at the disappointment on her face. "But he did ask me to go to the dance with him, which is why I need your help."

"Rae!" Brooke squealed as she toppled over me. "I'm so happy for you, now I don't have to feel bad for you always third wheeling at every dance."

"Thanks." I sarcastically muttered. "Did you tell your parents about your engagement to Hoseok?"

"Yeah." Brooke looked at her nails as she acted petty like usual. "They weren't the happiest about it, but you know me, I didn't really care."

"Brooke." I gently nudged her shoulder. "I know you love Hoseok, but you still can't forget your parents love you too."

"I know." She sighed. "They just find him, I don't know, complicated."

"Pfft, can you imagine what my parents would think if I said I was getting married to Jimin, let alone dating him?"

"Rae." She placed her hands on my shoulder. "I think they'd kill you and him."

"Yay, team crazy parents." I high fived Brooke as we both began to laugh.

"So let me guess." She chuckled. "You invited me here to teach you how to dance or something?"

"Well no, actually." I bit my bottom lip. "I don't know what to wear."

"You asked just the right person." She smirked, before grabbing my wrist. "To the dress room!"

โ€”

"My room's the dress room?" I lowered a brow.

"Yeah, this isn't gonna do." Brooke shook her head as she skimmed through the dresses I had. "This one's cuteโ€”but we're going for sexy, not cute."

"Well, that's all I have." I shrugged my shoulders, and sat on my bed.

"No worries." Brooke headed towards my door. "I have a closet of dresses, waiting to be worn."

I really wanted to use a dress from the 80's, but they're so damn hideous. I'm sorry, but it's just the truth. If you really wanna know how 80's prom dresses look, you can type it into the google. Try not to vomit lmaooooo.

Brooke came back into my room with a handful of dresses. No joke, she was probably carrying more than twenty. "Brooke, where the hell do you get all these dresses?"

"I bought them a while back, but I kind of put on some weight and cant fit into them anymore, but you're just the perfect size." She held up a couple dresses to my body.

"Why are these soโ€”" I tilted my head. "Plain."

"They're not plain, they're elegant." Brooke corrected me. "I don't want you looking like every other girl at the dance with their gigantic ass shoulder pads."

"But isn't that what guys like?" I scratched my head, unsure of changing the familiar style.

"Rae, let me show you a magazine of a prom some place in the west." She grabbed a magazine from her bag, and flipped it open. "Is that what you want to look like when Jimin's trying to undress you?"

"I mean..."

Brooke raised her brows at me.

"No." I sighed.

"Exactly." She picked up some dresses. "You want to look classy, elegant, and most importantly sexy, and let me tell you one thing. Those dresses won't do any of that. I promise Rae, Jimin will drool once he sees you."

"I'm trusting you Brooke." I laid my hand on her shoulder, and she handed me the first dress. "I'm rooting for this dress the most, so if it fits you, I'll scream, cry and hug you until you die." She smiled.

"Good to know." I slowly nodded before taking the dress to the bathroom.

I guess the color red really suits me, because that's what I wore last time. The one she gave me was a long dress, something I wasn't used to wearing. I know I'd be the only outcast since most girls like to go for shorter, sparky, bedazzled dresses. I'm not dissing them or anything, I used to wear shit like that too. I just don't know how people would react with something so different. I held the dress to my chest so it wouldn't slip off my body, and stepped into my room.

"Hey, Brooke could you help me tie the strings on the back?" I casually asked, but looked up to see both her eyes as wide as two moons. "See, I tried telling you it wouldn't look good."

"Rae, shutup!" Brooke grabbed both my arms. "You look like a goddess!"

"Pfft, that's too much." I rolled my eyes. "Just say I look bad, it's okay."

"Aurelia." Brooke sternly hissed. "You look like a fucking model. I'm actually afraid that if you pick this dress, Jimin will be hard the entire night, so you'll just have to deal with his horny self later."

"Wow." I briefly raised my brows. "That was a handful of information I did not need to know."

"I'm not taking no for answer." She insisted, while tying the back of my dress. "I can also do your makeup."

"I don't like myself with makeup on Brooke." I crossed my arms. "You know how I feel about it."

"I won't put a lot, just a nude lip gloss, and winged eyeliner. I want you to be glowing." She excitedly clasped her hands together.

"I'm trusting you Brooke." I sighed, knowing I'd regret this sooner or later.

The last time I got a makeover was for the dance the school had my freshman year, 1980. I asked the girl to make me look pretty and she sent me off looking like a clown. I got made fun of so badly that day, so I've always had a hatred for how makeup makes me look.

"Okay, so I'll be at your house around four. I'll do your hair and makeup so thatโ€”"

"Shit, Brooke I completely forgot." I tugged at my hair. "I'm grounded, my parents won't let me go."

"Not if I get my mom to convince her." Brooke winked.

"Why would your mom do that?"

"Because she feels bad that I'm not going to the dance with Hoseok." Brooke answered.

"Why?" My pupils slightly grew. "You aren't going to the dance with him?"

"Of course I am." She quickly attacked.

"I'm so confused." I blinked a few times.

"I told my mom that Hoseok's out of town, so that she'd let me go to prom with you. I honestly didn't even know that Jimin was going to ask you. So my mom can tell your mom that it's only us two girls going, then we can meet our dates there."

I looked at her like she was crazy.

"I need to run that through my head a few more times." I rested my head in both of my hands.

"It'll work, just let my mom talk to your mom." She grabbed my shoulders. "You'll get to go, trust me."

"I'm trusting you, apparently." I loudly sighed. "I think you should go before my parents are back."

"Hang that dress up." Brooke pointed as she left my room. "You don't want any wrinkles on it!"

"Got it!" I yelled back. "Don't forget your cat!"

"I'm holding him!" She shouted from downstairs.

I heard the front door shut, and Brooke leave my house. The mirror in front of me was so tempting, but I knew that once I'd look into it, I would start focusing on the little things I thought were wrong with myself. Now that I think about it, what does Jimin see in me anyways? I wish he'd write it all down on a piece of paper, so that I could always boost my confidence when I'm feeling like this.

A/N : 4 chapters left. Prepare yourselves.

Can you guys believe we're already near the end? I've been writing this book for a year, and I have so much love attached to it, that it's hard to let goย  (-๏น-ใ€‚)

I've been binge watching 80's movies, because I'm an 80's geek lmao. I'm also on my spring break, so I've got more time to write. Another reason that I have been rushing to finish my books, is because time problems. I'm not gonna be here during theย  entire month of July, and so I don't want to keep ya'll waiting. I'd rather finish them now, than to leave my readers hanging for a whole month, like damn. Also, please don't forget to share this book with people who you think might like it. Thanks!

โœจ Video of the day :

This is a clip from the movie A walk to Remember which is a based on Nicholas Spark's book. I don't want to spoil the movie, but it's really cute & will definitely make you cry. In this clip the lead male, Landon wants to learn how to dance so that he can impress his new girlfriend, Jamie, who is nothing like him at all. He ends up asking his mom to help him, which I find adorable. Can we take second to image Jimin asking his mom to teach him how toย  dance, so he can impress Rae. I'm gonna cry now.
