After the 'incident', Dalton and I cleaned the room in silence once he returned from the shower. He'd finally decided to help me. It was awkward, which was a shame because I like it when he speaks, I get to know more about him, but right now I was stuck.

As I was cleaning, I found another interesting object. It was a simple printed out photo, no frame, just a plain paper photo. The photo was of Dalton and two boys, one in either side of Dalton. The two boys were slightly smaller than Dalton with wide grins plastered on their faces, where as Dalton looked like he would rather be anywhere else except for there. The background was dark, with a random blurred girl, who was probably walking past at the time, with a paper cup clutched into her hand.

"What have you found this time?" Dalton grumbled, pulling me out off my trance.

I turned around, watching as Dalton walked over to me and I shyly held the photo for him to examine. I was petrified that he would shout at me. I really was expecting him to rant to me for going through his things even though I didn't mean to. He was still pissed from earlier, or so I thought. As he strolled over, he grasped the photo gently. Maybe he got over it.

He saw it and quickly scrunched his face up, showing a clear sign of distaste. "Oh, that was a shit night."

"What happened?" I asked, curious. The boys beside him seemed so happy so how come he looked miserable?

"It was just a shit party, you know the ones with barely enough drink or people to even consider it a party?" He said, expecting me to relate to it, but obviously I couldn't. I kind of sat there awkwardly before he looked at me, a quizzical look on his face as he spoke again. "You have been to a party, right?"

"Oh, uh, yeah, s-so many parties." I lied, trying my hardest to sound convincing. I really did try my hardest.

"You're lying." He laughed.

"I'm not!" I was. I definitely was.

I would have straight up told him the truth, but I didn't want him to judge me. It seemed as if we were slowly, very very slowly, building a small friendship, or at least he's getting better at hiding his hatred for me, and I really didn't want him thinking of me as a loser, even though I was.

I knew people like Dalton, I knew those were the types of people to attend parties weekly, and get drunk without a care in the world whilst they danced with their friends. I never had that. I never went to, nor was I ever invited to a party, because at school, I was considered a bit of a weirdo who had no friends, and those types of people do not attend parties.

"How have you never been to a party before? I get invited to like 3 per week." He scoffed.

"Yeah, well you and I are very different." I mumbled, slightly off put. The was no need for him to brag about the fact that he was better than me, I knew that already.

"Hey, I didn't mean it like that, sorry." He said sincerely, "I don't usually go because they aren't my thing but I know a person who's throwing one tomorrow night for her birthday, we could go, maybe?" He asked, whilst awkwardly scratching the back of his neck.

"It's okay, if they aren't your 'thing' then I don't want to drag you to one."

"No, it's fine, I don't mind. Plus, you could make some friends." He wiggled his eyebrows.

"No, I don't have any clothes anyways." I shrugged. Why was I denying this opportunity? I've always wanted to go to a party and fit in with everyone else, so why was I making this so difficult for myself.

"We can go out today. I need some new shit and so do you so we could go town and see what we could find."

"You seem very willing to spend time with me." I raised my eyebrows and grinned.

"Mhm, well you see my tactic is to kill you with kindness. Overload you with friendliness and when you die, I can be free." He joked, a huge smile speaker over his face. I longed to see him smile. It was such a beautiful view, so aesthetic, so memorable. It became my favourite thing to look at, by far.

"Well then, I'll enjoy the kindness while it lasts. When are we leaving?"

"Get ready, eat breakfast and come outside in an hour stat." He grabbed his jacket and threw it on.

"Wait, you're not eating with us?" I frowned.

"No thanks." Was all I got before he hurried out of the room. Seconds later, the sounds of the front door slamming shut and the car revving filled my ears.

Dalton's room was practically clean at this point, so I cleaned the last few bits, before making my way downstairs to eat breakfast.

Breakfast was delicious, it was a breakfast wrap with everything that you would normally eat for a full English breakfast. I'd never tasted so many flavours at once, it was insanely good.

Katherine was disappointed when I told her that Dalton had left since she made him some wraps too, but since all of us were full, she was about to throw them away, which was unacceptable so I asked for them and wrapped them in tinfoil, ready to give to Dalton when he came to pick me up.

Wow. I'm making this seem like a date. Which it isn't, obviously. I wouldn't go on a date with him. Obviously.

I changed into the few clothes I had, kind of did my hair and brushed my teeth again, and before I knew it, an hour had passed and I were standing outside in the garden, watching the road for any on coming cars.

The past times I've gone out, Dalton has given me a jacket, however I felt to rude to simply take one without asking, since he was out, so I was standing there in the icy winds, each gust of breeze sending a shiver through my malnourished body. Goosebumps had begun to form over my arms, my small blond hairs standing as straight as a soldier.

Finally, with a huge sigh of relief washing over me, I watched as Dalton's familiar car pulled up onto the curb. Thankful to get out of the cold, I ran over to the door and got in as quick as I could.

"Woah, you okay?" He let out a breathy laugh as he observed my manic actions.

"Yeah, yep, I am uh fine."

"Shit, you're freezing, why didn't you get one of my jackets?" His eyebrows furrowed as his hand reached over the feel the temperature of my arm. His hand held so much heat in them. Maybe it was just because I was so cold, but god, I did not want his touch to leave me.

"I'm not cold, I p-promise, and I didn't want to uh take one without your permission so I left it." I shrugged, however, the chattering of my teeth, that I desperately tried to prevent, but to no avail, made it a little too obvious I was cold.

He shifted in his seat and took his seatbelt off before shuffling off his coat and handing it to me. "Here."

"Oh, no it's okay, I promise. You keep it." I watched as his face turned into a bored expression, as if he knew I was just being polite, before shoving it onto my lap.

"Once again, just say thank you." He replied, a small smile blossoming on his face as he put on his seatbelt again.

I said thank you and put the jacket on, instantly being hit with the strong fragrance of vanilla and fruit. This scent was becoming my new favourite smell.

As I was doing the zip up, I heard the crunching of the aluminium and instantly stopped to pull the food from my lap into his view.

"I brought this for you." I smiled shyly, Dalton glances over and looked at the content in my hand before returning to my face. It was like he were trying to stop himself from smiling and I could see the struggle.

"You didn't forget about me, how sweet." He spoke, grasping the tin foil, throwing it onto his lap and starting the car once I was successfully snuggled into his coat. "I'll eat it later since I had food whilst I were out, but thank you, Jack. I appreciate it." He gave me a brief smile and turned to face all of his attention onto the road.

We sat in a comfortable silence whilst the car radio hummed quietly in the background, until we reached a shopping centre I'd never been to.

"Where are we?" I asked, curious. Although I didn't get go to to the shopping centre often with my parents, I still knew what it looked like and this wasn't it. It looked bigger, better, with a wider variety of shops and places to eat.

"The centre near us is shit so I decided to go to this one a few miles out of town, just a bit fancier, that's all." He shrugged nonchalantly.

My eyes widened at the realisation of this. I barely had any money and I was going to be strolling through fancy luxury shops. "Dalton, I-I don't have that much money remember?"

He laughed and looked at me incredulously. "You're not paying for it, dumbass."

"No, no. Yes I am." I spoke, sitting up in my seat. It made me feel sick with guilt that Dalton had done everything he had previously already, there is no way I could ask him for more.

"Shut up." He rolled his eyes and got out of the car. I huffed and got out too, knowing there was no way I was letting him pay today.
