Jasper P.O.V

My heart was pounding I heard the car door slam. Jamie was laying in my lap, he wasn't feeling well. I didn't want Danny to walk through that door and see Jamie and I all hugged up, but I didn't want to throw him off of me because he would think it's because of Danny.

"Baby, I need a drink of water" I suggested and he got up laying on the couch itself.

"Are you sure you want to see him?" Mom put her hand on my shoulder.

"He's my brother...its OUR birthday why wouldn't I?" I shook her off.

Our 18th birthday to be exact....meaning we really could be together now if we wanted. Well technically my birthday is tomorrow (our little family secrete) cuz Danny and I were born 30 minuets apart....complications.

I went into the kitchen and looked
at the cake....it only had my name on it. What the fuck? This was pissing me off. They can't just treat him like he's nothing. I stormed out of the kitchen about to scream at my mother for being such a idiot when I saw him. I wanted to say I was happy to see him but I wasnt. He looked......different.

"Daniel?" I walked towards him slowly.

I could see mom, dad,Gabe, and Jamie eyeing us carefully. To see if we would slip up.

"Danny I missed you" I pulled him into my arms and hugged him. He didn't hug back, he didn't even look at me. He was staring at Jamie. Jamie looked scared, terrified you might say, as if he saw a ghost. That's exactly what I was seeing a ghost of my former brother. He was thiner....his hair grew out a bit to be the same length as mine. He usually had smile lines from smirking and grinning all the time, but they were long gone now. His face looked sad.

"Hey Jamie" he said quietly.

"Daniel?" He ignored me. I pulled his face so that he was looking me in my eyes.

"Happy birthday. Your back and your not going away again. I am real....this is real" he blinked and that's when the tears fell. I embraced him tightly and he held on to me.

"Ummm okay boys....lets go and celebrate your birthdays" Gabe patted us on our backs. I didn't want Danny to see that cake. I wanted him to feel good today.

"We're going to go out actually." I spoke up grabbing my car keys.

"Jasper" mom grabbed my wrist.

"We're 18," I said harshly. Daniel was now sitting down with his back faced against all of us.

"I have a great hook up to this place I can get my buddy Jon to rent it out for us. Ooooh!!! And there's these games we can play. I know Danny would love the football-" Jamie rambled getting excited.

"Jamie....just my brother and I" I didn't want to have to say it but the is a day for us. Jamie mouth made a 'O' shaped. He wanted to come with us. We haven't even told them about the baby. I grabbed Danny by the arm and led him to the car.

"So, are you and Jamie still together?" he asked look straight ahead.

"Yeah, working it out. I think he understands." I kept driving.

"Well, I'm glad that's working out for you. I've got to be honest. I don't think you thought of me as much as you did of him. He's always in the way...bit you love him so.....and I know you can't love me the same way. I decided that I will respect that." I could feel him eyeing me.

What was he talking about? My brother would never admit that. I held his hand pulling into the parking lot of the football field.

"I thought maybe we could toss the ball around a bit and then we could grab something to eat."

"That's fine" he said stoically.
We tossed the ball around and then went to a bar and had a couple of shots. It was hella awkward the whole time it was like he was scared of me. He would always scoot away from me, I guess it was gonna take some getting use to.

"C-can I spend the night with you?" He smiled weakly.

So I turned going to my house. Fuck, Jamie might be there. He's probably sleeping. We we arrived that's exactly what he was doing. Fast asleep on the couch. Danny walked around the cozy yet open space and I followed him into my room.

"Jasper, I still want you. But everytime, everytime I think about you I feel sick to my stomach. Look at me brother" he stripped to his underwear revealing purple and red slashes across his body. I gasped.

"This is what they did to me, sometimes it was worst. But I went through it all just for you to get back with him. " he fell to his knees and I rushed by his side.

"Please understand as longs as Jamie's here I'm not going to leave him again. And as long as your here in not going to leave you, but I choose Jamie. Us would be too hard on our family and friends. But there is no doubt in my mind that I love you, but in the most brotherly was as possible. I'm sorry this happened but I warned you."

"I know I was foolish" I picked him up.

"Your going to make it through this soon everything will be back to normal"

"Will it's Jasper? Will it?" He questioned doubting me.
