Amber's P.O.V.:

At the Collins' Mansion...

"Yes, Hea. Tell me what's the problem." I asked as soon as I reached the mansion.

"Look for yourself." she said as she pointed her fingers towards flower arrangements.

"The flowers that they have used for decoration is Globe Thistles and Chris is allergic to them. What should we do now?" she asked, in a worried tone.

"Hea, don't worry. I will take care of it. Just relax okay." I assured her and made her sit on the couch.

I then went and talked to the flower arrangement guys and asked if something can be done about it. They suggested to few of the solutions and we started working on them.

Finally, after almost 3 hours later, we were successful in changing all the Globe thistles with Hydrangeas.

"It looks perfect, Amber. You're an angel. Thanks for helping." Hea said looking at the flower arrangements.

"I did nothing, Hea. It's all because of the flower arrangers." I replied.

*****

Finally after I was done with all the works at the mansion, I drove towards Chris' company to meet him. When I reached on his floor, his office was empty.

"Where is Mr. Collins?" I asked to Jenna, one of the employees of the floor.

"Mr. Collins has gone out to attend a meeting." she informed me.

"Oh. Thank you!" I said and walked out from there.

Why isn't he picking up my calls?

I am gonna make him suffer for this. I thought angrily.

Amber, you've become like a typical girlfriend. My conscience taunted.

I smiled thinking about it.

****

Elsa and I had planned to go out and eat and spend some best friends time so we went to one of the famous Sushi restaurants in the neighborhood and spent a quality time.

"Are you sure you want to sell your car to buy the ring?" Elsa asked me when I told her about my plan.

"I guess I am. I really want to give him something really special and the ring seems to be the perfect gift." I said, honestly.

"But, you bought that car using all your savings. Are you sure you want to sell it so easily? You always wanted your own car." she said.

"I did. But, now I have Chris and he is more important to me. It's his first birthday when we are together. I want to gift him something really precious because he himself is very precious." I said, with a smile.

"Girl, you're whipped." Elsa teased which made me chuckle.

*****

"Since, you have sold your car and have money, so let's go and buy your love band." Elsa said.

"let's go!" I said, excitedly keeping the cash inside my purse.

We went to the same Tiffany's store and placed an order for the band and also asked them to engrave our initials; C and A on it.

Chris, you're gonna love this surprise. I thought.

Though I was sad as I no longer had my own car but still there was happiness and satisfaction of getting the band for Chris.

We were coming out of the store when I got a call from Elvis.

"Hello, Amber?"

"Yes, Elvis. I am speaking. Tell me." I said.

"I am getting nervous. Hannah would be arriving in 2 hours now. I am nervous to the extent where I might pee into my pants." he said.

I chuckled.

"Everything is gonna be fine, Elvis. Don't worry." I tried to calm him down.

"Please Amber, come and help me out. I will ruin everything. I need support." he said.

"What am I going to do there? It's your and your girlfriend's day. I am gonna be just an extra baggage." I said.

But, after his a lot of insistence, I decided to go and help him afterall, what are friends for?

"Elsa, I need to help Elvis. He is shit scared about the whole proposal thing." I informed Elsa. She knows Elvis as I have told her everything about Elvis and everyone I know in the city.

"Okay. I too need to go and meet Oliver for the dress fittings. I will meet you at the apartment." she said.

"Cool!" I said and then she drove to Oliver's place, whereas I took a taxi to go to the venue where Elvis has decided to propose to his girlfriend, Hannah. It was at one of the most expensive hotels in the city. Elvis wanted everything to be extravagant for his girlfriend.

****

"Calm down, Elvis. You look good, the ring is beautiful, the decor and food and wine everything is perfect. So, please don't worry." I have been trying to calm him down since the last 30 minutes. There are few more of his friends who are trying to calm him down.

God! How difficult can it be to propose someone?

"Elvis, you can rehearse the proposal with Amber. That way, you will feel less anxious." one of his friends suggested.

"Good idea! Let's do this Elvis. Come and rehearse with me." I suggested and pulled him towards the center of the room where the proposal would take place.

****

"1...2...3...go!" his friend said.

"Will you marry me and make me the happiest man on the Earth?" Elvis said holding the velvet box containing the diamond ring in his hand and it was shaking like anything.

"Cut!" his friend shouted.

"Bro, stop making that face. You seem to have constipation. This is a proposal for god sake. Show some confidence." his other friend added.

"Elvis, listen to me. Just be yourself. She loves you more than anything. So, no matter what, she's gonna say yes to your proposal. Now, just calm down and let's do this for the final time, okay?" I said and tried to motivate him.

He nodded his head confidently and we resumed the rehearsal once more.

"1...2...3...go!"

"I, Elvis Kent, have fallen for you and your charm, your elegance, wit, humor and basically everything that you have. I had never imagined that I would be marrying and settling down anytime soon but after I met you, I knew I want to spend the rest of my life with you. So, will you do me the honors and make me the happiest man by marrying me?" Elvis said. And this time, he was authentic self.

"Yes, I will!" I replied.

Everyone in the room started applauding.

Elvis smiled looking at me and so did I.

"You did a great job, Elvis. Now, calm down. Hannah will be arriving here anytime now." I said and wished him good luck.

*****

"Did his girlfriend say yes to Elvis?" Elsa asked as I returned to my apartment.

"Yes, she did. Elvis even cried when she said 'yes'." I said.

"I am so happy for them, Amber. I wonder when is this Oliver going to propose to me. I really want to get married." Elsa said, dreamily.

"Don't worry. I am sure, he is going to propose you soon." I said, smiling.

"Guys, find me a boyfriend. I am envying you all. Everyone is either getting into a relationship or getting proposed for marriage and here I am with no traces of men in my life." Adelaide whined.

Elsa and I chuckled at that.

"You should go on blind dates, Adelaide. If you want, I can set up few blind dates for you." Elsa suggested

"Really, Elsa? Please do me this favor if you can." Adelaide requested.

"Fine then. I have a cousin who is single. I can set up a blind date with him." Elsa said.

"You're an angel in disguise, Elsa." Ade said as she took her in a bone crushing hug.

I left them to continue their conversation and I went into my bedroom to call Chris.

He didn't pick the call. I even tried calling at the company. They said that Chris hasn't returned from his business dinner yet.

I called Hea but she told me that hasn't talked to Chris. She told me that his dad and his grandma were back and wanted to see him but they are unable to reach him.

Where are you, Chris?

"Guys, I need to go and see where Chris is. He isn't picking up the call." I informed Elsa and Adelaide and ran out of the apartment. I hailed a taxi and went to the company.

"Hey Lucas, do you have any idea where can I find Chris?" I asked Lucas as soon as I saw him.

"I met Mr. Collins this afternoon to hand him the progress file. He seemed to be in a hurry so I didn't get much time to talk to him. You should call his driver." he said.

"Oh okay." I said and immediately called Chris' driver.

After 2-3 rings he answered the call.

"Anthony? It's Amber Milburn here." I said as soon as Anthony; Chris' personal chauffeur answered.

"Yes, Ms. Milburn." he said.

"I had some work with Mr. Collins. Is he with you?" I asked, trying to sound professional.

"I dropped him at the airport an hour ago. He said he has some important work in Bristol. He would return by tomorrow afternoon." he informed.

He went without informing me?

What's wrong with him? Why is he acting so weird all of a sudden?

*****

"Amber, don't worry. He must have been caught up with something important that he forgot to inform you about it. Don't over think about it now." Elsa said as she came and sat beside me on the sofa of my apartment.

"He could have at least left a text message that he was going out of the town. Firstly, he wasn't picking up my calls and then he left the city just like that. He didn't even care informing me about it." I said, angrily.

"Well you have fallen for a CEO who owns a company worth millions, honey. You can't do anything about it. You'll have to deal with his unappealing schedule." Elsa tried to cheer me up.

"After, he returns from Bristol, he is gonna have a tough time dealing with me that is for sure. I will not forgive him easily, Elsa." I said wiping my nose in the tissue paper.

Yes, I was crying like a baby.

*****

Friday morning....

"Everything is completed, right? Is there anything left to be done?" I asked the head of the event managing team.

"No, ma'am. We have checked everything. All's good!" she said with a smile.

"That's good. And what about the lighting and caterers?" I asked.

"They have been taken care of, ma'am." She said.

I finally took a sigh of relief after knowing that the arrangements for tonight's party were done as per the Collins' standards.

I sat on the couch and looked at my phone screen to see if Chris has dropped any text or call but there were none. I had called several times and also left a birthday message for him but there were no replies.

Chris, just return back. I am gonna eat you alive. I thought, angrily.

"Amber..." I heard Mrs. Collins (Chris' grandma) call me.

I stood up as soon as I saw her walking towards me along with Hea by her side. Mrs. Collins looked extremely happy about something as could be seen on her face.

"Yes, Mrs. Collins?" I asked, politely.

"Has all the arrangements been done perfectly?" she asked as I helped her sit on the couch. Hea sat beside her.

"Yes, ma'am. Everything has been done according to your instructions. I have checked everything from decorations to lighting to food. It's perfect. I am sure, you're gonna be happy with all the arrangements for tonight's party."

"Thank you so much, dear. Hea told me how much you put your efforts into the whole party arrangements. I am really glad that Chris has an efficient assistant like you." she said, smiling.

"It's my pleasure, helping you and your family, Mrs. Collins." I replied with a small smile.

"I am really happy today. I want everything to be perfect tonight. It's a really special night." she said, with a content smile.

Of course, after all it's her grandson's birthday. I thought.

******

"Anthony, has Chris' plane landed yet?" I asked the same question to him for the nth time.

"No, Ms. Milburn. I am waiting outside for him. His plane hasn't landed yet." he informed me the same thing for the nth time.

"Okay, thank you! Please inform me when his plane lands." I requested.

"Sure, Ms. Milburn." he said and then we hung up the call.

"Elsa, why do I feel that something bad is going to happen." I asked as I sat on the sofa.

"Amber, you're overthinking about everything. Just relax! Once you'll get to meet Chris tonight, you'll be alright. Trust me." she said, squeezing my hands lightly in assurance.

"You think so?" I asked, like a little kid.

"I know so. Now cheer up. We need to go to the salon for our makeup and hair." she said as she pulled me up from the sofa.

"Okay fine. Let's go! I also need to go and pick up the ring from the shop." I told her.

"By the way, where's Ade? Isn't she getting ready for the party?" I asked her when I realized that I hadn't seen her since this morning.

"Oh, she is out on a date with my cousin. She texted me that she would reach at the party straight from the date." she informed me.

"Oh." I managed to say. Finally, Ade is taking steps to do something about her love life.

We drove towards the salon to get ready for the evening. I also called Jade and asked her about the cake. She told me that the cake was ready and she has already delivered it to the mansion so I asked her to join us in the salon to get ready.

*****

"You look breathtakingly beautiful, Amber." Jade exclaimed as soon as I came out of the changing room in my designer outfit gifted by Hea.

"Really? Do I?" I asked fro assurance.

"Trust me, Amber...Chris is going to have a hard time getting his eyes off you tonight." Elsa said as she whistled.

I chuckled at that and turned around to look at myself in the mirror and I must say, I was surprised to see how beautiful the blue gown looked on me. The dress was indeed making me look beautiful. And the low side bun was adding beauty to the whole look.

Elsa and Jade stood on either side of me and it would be an understatement if I said that they looked anything less than breathtaking.

"Let's go, girls! Let's rock and shock the party tonight!" Elsa exclaimed with excitement.

"Sure!" Jade and I said at the same time.

We were late for the party by 30 minutes already because some adjustments were required to be made with the ring that I ordered. Whilst we were waiting for the ring to be packed, I called Chris and as always, he didn't answer again. So I called Anthony and asked about him. He informed me that he took Chris directly to the mansion as per his grandma's order since she had something important to discuss with him and due to this he couldn't call me.

I took a sigh of relief that he had finally arrived.

"Now you're happy, Amber that Chris has arrived?" Elsa asked me when she saw a smile on my face.

"Very!" I said, excitedly. We then hopped into Elsa's car and drove towards the mansion.

The closer we were getting to the mansion, the more hastier my heartbeat became.

I hope Chris liked all the arrangements. I hope everything is as per his liking.

I thought as I crossed my fingers.

It's a very happy day but why I felt that something bad was gonna happen tonight. I kept my hand over my beating heart to relax myself.

"We're finally here!" Elsa said as she parked the car in front of the extravagantly and beautifully lit mansion. The lighting men had done a praise worthy job as the lights looked extremely beautiful.

Elsa, Jade and I exited from the car and walked slowly towards the entrance of the mansion. The security checking was really heavy for it was the party of one of the richest families in the city. I could also see a group of media people waiting at the entrance to get the photos of all the guests.

We slowly walked towards the ball room where the party was.

"Thank you everyone for coming to our party. It's an honor to have you all here to celebrate this day with us." I could hear Mrs. Collins (Chris' grandma) speaking in the microphone on the stage.

I searched for Chris in the huge glittery crowd of guests but I couldn't find him anywhere.

Where are you Chris?

"Tonight is a very special night for our family. Tonight, Chris doesn't only turn 29 but...it's also special because tonight, my grandson is finally getting engaged." she said and everyone cheered at that.

"May I please call on the stage, the stars of tonight...my grandson and the heir of Latier Corp. Chris Collins and his fiance-to-be and the heiress of Merine Corp., Deniz Bern." she added.

I couldn't register her words clearly.

What is she saying? Am I in my nightmare?

Finally, I saw Chris but he wasn't alone. He was with a girl and they were in hand in hand. They looked happy. He looked happy.

What is happening? Am I dreaming again? This can't be true!
