Amber's P.O.V.:

I dropped my mom at the airport and hurried for the work. I reached at his mansion at around 9.

I just hope he isn't mad at me for last night.

Afraid of him?

What? Afraid of Chris? Never!

I took a deep breathe before knocking at his office door.

"Come in!" I heard his deep voice.

I opened the door slowly and walked inside.

He was busy with some files. He had ditched his suit today and was wearing a light blue shirt. He had rolled up his sleeves up to his elbows. When guys roll up their sleeves, I find them extremely attractive. It gives the vibe that they are ready to get to work and are not here to play around. He looked so focused.

And not to mention, how sexy those muscular arms of his looked and the veins on his hands looked so enticing.

God! I am heartbroken and horny at the same time.

I need to calm myself down.

I am not letting my guards down. I have self respect and I am not going to drool over him anymore.

Work! Focus!

No veins! no rolled up sleeves!

I went and sat on the L-shaped couch and took out my tablet from my hand bag.

I had already received a mail from him in which he had assigned me some works.

He acted as if I wasn't even in the room. I decided to do the same.

I started working on the day's agendas.

Work 1- completed!

Work 2- completed!

"Ms. Milburn, make me a cup of coffee." he ordered without looking at me, busy in his work.

Fine! Don't look at me. I am completely fine with it.

'Ms. Milburn, make me a cup of coffee.'

You don't know anything apart from ordering and bossing around.

I went and made coffee for him and took it to him.

I placed the cup on his table on it's position.

It was then when he finally raised his eyes and looked at me.

"Ms. Milburn..." he said.

"Yes, sir." I said, in a very professional tone.

"Don't mimic me. I hate it." he said and took the cup from the table and started sipping on it relaxing his back on his chair.

Shit! I spoke....

Before I could even complete my thought, he spoke again.

"Yes, you spoke your thoughts loudly, again. Now get back to work." he said.

I want to go up high in the sky and explode.

I walked towards the couch and sat on it.

I looked up at Chris and surprisingly, he was looking at me as well.

We kept staring at each other for god knows how long.

"Ms. Milburn, are you single?" he asked out of blue.

His question made me choke on my saliva.

"Sir?" I asked, unsure if I heard the right question.

"I asked, are you single?" he asked again, slightly frustrated.

I was about to answer when I remembered his words and my vow.

"Sir, it's about my private life. I don't like sharing it with people at work." I said, confidently.

He looked at me furiously.

"Don't test my patience." he said, under his gritted teeth.

Under no means I am going to share any private matters of my life. He wanted to have a professional relationship with me and he will get it.

I thought that now he would come to me and act like a total jerk or try to kiss me like old times. I was ready with my dialogues but I was surprised when he rested his back on the chair and smirked looking at me.

"What happened? Why are you looking at me like that?" I asked, shifting uncomfortably on my seat.

"I was thinking about how silly my question is." he said.

"What do you mean?" I asked, raising my eye brows.

"I meant, the right question should be, has your parents searched for a son-in-law yet. Because there's no chance that you would be in a relationship with anyone." he said and sipped his coffee.

What the hell?

"So you mean that no one would want to date me?" I asked, furiously.

What does he think of himself? How can he say that?

"Of course, Ms. Milburn. Why would anyone want to date you?" he said looking at me from toe to head with a distasteful look.

"For the same reason for which you used to always come and kiss me." I said, with a challenging look.

"That was my biggest mistake. Worry not, Ms. Milburn. That won't happen again." he said, as if he was regretting those kisses.

His words felt like a red hot sword on my heart. I would be lying if I said that his words didn't hurt but I maintained my composure and didn't let him see my real feelings.

"If you are to regret doing it then don't do it at all." I said as I turned around and exited from his cabin.

I walked towards the pool area to calm myself. I didn't want to show how hurt I was by his words. I won't give him the pleasure of seeing me like this.

I was looking at the ripples on the water which was helping me to calm myself when I received a text from Elvis. Last night we exchanged our numbers.

'Hey, childhood sweetheart. Wanna go out for a dinner tonight?'

I chuckled looking at his text. He never fails to bring a smile on my face.

'Sure, childhood sweetheart.' I typed and hit enter.

After a few seconds, I received another text from him.

'Fine! I will pick you up from your work at 6 then. Send me the address.'

I thought for a while and then sent him the address of Collins' mansion.

Elvis seems a good person. We talked to each other last night in the party a lot.

Flashback:

"Who was he?" Elvis asked  as he came and stood beside me when I was looking at Chris leaving the party.

"He was my boss." I replied turning and walking towards the bar.

"But I don't think he was just a boss." he said teasingly as he followed me.

"What do you mean?" I asked taking the glass of juice from over the slab.

"I mean, the way you were looking at him while he was exiting isn't the look you give to your boss. And not to mention, how furiously you were looking at him and the girl with whom he was dancing. Why would an employee be jealous seeing her boss dancing with another girl?" he asked, looking at me knowingly.

"I wasn't jealous. You are over thinking." I said, smiling awkwardly.

"Really? Then why did you go closer to them when we were dancing? You even managed to pull me with you." he said, smirking.

"Oh come on, Elvis. I was just dancing. If I happened to go closer to them then that's just a co-incidence." I said trying to reason. But he didn't seem to buy my excuse as he was giving me the look which said, 'I know it all. Don't lie.'

"You might not accept it, Amber. But I think there's something strong in between and your 'Boss'" he said, air quoting the word 'boss'.

I rolled my eyes.

"Why would you say that?" I asked.

"Are you kidding me, Amber? Even a lame man would be able tell that there's something in between you and him. Don't tell me you haven't ever noticed the way he looks at you." he said, sipping his wine.

"What look?" I asked, curiously.

"Someone seems really curious." he teased.

"Elvis, tell me already." I said, rolling my eyes.

"Fine. When a person looks at his lover, there's a spark evidently visible in their eyes and I saw that in his eyes." he said which made me choke on my drink.

"Amber, you're fine?" he asked, concerned.

"Yeah, don't worry." I said as I took the napkins and wiped my mouth.

"So, what I was saying is that, I am sure that your boss loves you." he stated casually.

"What?" I asked as I couldn't digest the word 'love' and Chris in a single statement.

Love? Chris loves me?

Even the mention of him and love in the same statement sound so unrealistic.

What's wrong with Elvis?

"Are you drunk?" I asked to confirm if he was sober or not.

"I am not drunk, Amber. I can guarantee you that he loves you. And not only him but, you love him as well. You both have such an intense chemistry. I can't believe how you two are not together yet." he said.

"I don't love him. I have feelings for him. I mean, I had feelings for him. Argh...I  don't know. But that's not love. And moreover, nothing can ever happen between us." I said, sadly as I sipped on my drink.

"Why? Has he sister-zoned you already?" he asked, teasingly.

I chuckled.

"No. I can't even imagine being his sister. Even the thought makes me want to puke. But...I don't know. Things are complicated...he's even more complicated." I said.

"It's complicated maybe because you guys haven't realized your feelings yet?" he said.

"He is confused about what he wants in his life." I said, remembering his mood swings.

"And what about you? Do you know what you want? Do you know what you actually feel about him?" he asked.

I opened the mouth to speak but he interrupted.

"Don't tell me. Tell it to yourself and then ask if that's what you really feel for him." he said.

I thought about it hard. What exactly do I feel for him?

Do I really love Chris?

But he was just a crush. I agree he was my first ever crush after I got over my celebrity crushes and now it is just an infatuation or is it something more?

But if it was just an infatuation then what is this unruly pull towards him?  Why did I get jealous?

Infatuation means an intense but short-lived passion or admiration for someone then why even after so many years, I still have the same feelings for him? There has never been a downfall to these feelings but instead, it seems to get deeper each day.  Why did I cry myself  to sleep every night after he left the college shattering me?

I should have already moved on by now, shouldn't I?

"Arghhhhh...I don't want to think about it. It's just so frustrating." I said in frustration.

He laughed.

"Calm down, lady!" he said as he handed me another glass of juice.

I took deep breathes to calm myself.

We stood there without talking for a while.

"You seem to know a lot about that look, Elvis." I asked, teasingly.

"Of course, I do. What else could you expect from a committed man?" he said, smiling.

"Wow! You're committed. Where's your girl?" I asked, surprised.

"She's out of the city. She'll be back soon." he said, shyly.

"Are you blushing?" I teased.

"Don't tease me now, Amber." he said. I laughed and pulled his cheeks.

END OF FLASHBACK

I realized that I have been standing and thinking about last night for a long time and I should be heading back to the cabin so I decided to return. I walked back to his cabin and knocked at the door. I didn't hear any sound so I opened the door and realized that he wasn't there. Maybe he went to see his grandma. I thought. Since, it was already lunch time so I went to the kitchen to get myself something to eat. My lunch was arranged in their kitchen by Hee Young. Since, there wasn't any restaurants or food stalls in the neighborhood so she insisted that I should eat there.

Christen came with my lunch and sat beside me. We had our lunch together and talked about random stuffs. Hee Young was with Chris' grandma so I couldn't get a chance to meet her.

After finishing my lunch, I headed towards his cabin to continue my work with a fresh mood.

I walked inside the cabin thinking he wasn't there but he was already back.

"Sorry, I thought you weren't in the cabin so I didn't knock and entered without permission." I said, slowly.

"It's okay. You have a habit of entering everywhere without asking for a permission." I heard him saying.

He said those words slowly but my ears were sharp enough to hear his words.

"Did you say something?" I asked.

"No! Get back to your work." he said and continued working on his laptop.

I nodded my head slowly and engaged myself in work.

It was almost 6. I arranged everything in my handbag and stood up to go.

"Can I go, sir?" I asked before leaving.

"Not yet, Ms. Milburn. Book a ticket for me. I will be flying to Switzerland on the evening of this Thursday." he said without looking up at me.

He is going to Switzerland? For how long?

Should I ask him?

But, why should I?

But I want to know.

"Do you have anything to ask, Ms. Milburn?" he asked, raising his eye brows.

Yes!

"No, sir." I replied, almost immediately.

"Then get to the work." he said.

"Yes, sir." I said and hurriedly walked towards my place to book a ticket for him.

Should I ask him?

No! my conscience replied.

But, I want to know for how long will he be gone.

Didn't you say that you're barbie he'll never get to play with. my conscience taunted.

I sighed sadly and booked a business class ticket to Zurich for him.

I was about to close my tabloid when I received a call from Elvis.

"Amber, are you done yet? I am almost done at my company. If you're done then I will come and pick you up." he said after I picked the call.

"Yeah. I am almost done, Elvis. You can come." I replied closing my tabloid and keeping it inside my hand bag.

I hung up the call and stood up to go.

"Sir, I have booked the flight for you and mailed it to you. Can I leave now?" I asked, looking towards him.

"Not yet, Ms. Milburn."

"Make me another cup of coffee." he said without lifting his eyes from the laptop.

"Coffee? Now?" I asked, confused.

"Yes, Ms. mIlburn, coffee." he said in duh tone.

"I meant that you don't usually drink coffee at this time." I explained.

"I don't usually that  doesn't mean I can't. Now make me a cup of coffee." he said sternly.

"Sure." I said as I placed my hand bag back on the couch and walked towards the coffee machine to brew coffee for him.

After awhile, I placed the coffee on his table.

He took a sip of it slowly and then made face.

"I didn't like this coffee. Use another coffee and make me another cup." he said as he pushed the coffee cup away slowly.

What is wrong with him? This is the same coffee which he drank in the morning. What happened to his taste buds so suddenly?

"Sure." I said as I took the cup from his table and walked away to make another cup of coffee from him.

I took out new coffee packet from the small cabinet next to the machine and put it in the coffee machine.

After making another cup of coffee, I took it and placed it on his table.

"Sir, your coffee." I said.

He didn't reply for awhile so I decided to leave as Elvis must be on his way to here.

I was just about to turn when he spoke again.

"Ms. Milburn, bring me the Wilson's company file from the cabinet." he said as he sipped the coffee.

"Sure, sir." I said patiently.

I walked towards the cabinet and searched for the file he wanted. I couldn't find it in the cabinet.

"Sir, I can't find the Wilson's file in the cabinet." I said as I continued searching for the file.

"Maybe it's in the next cabinet. Search carefully." he said.

"Okay." I said as I opened another cabinet and started searching for the file.

"Sir, I still can't find the file." I said as I looked at him.

He was already looking at me with a ghost of smile on his face.

Why is he smiling?

"Sir?" I said.

"Uhmm...what were you saying?" he asked as if he was suddenly brought out of his thoughts.

"Sir, I can't find the file you asked for." I replied.

"Oh. I guess I left the file on my table in my study. Get it from there." he said, putting the empty cup on the table.

I nodded my head and left his cabin to go to his study and get the file.

What is with him today?

It's already time. Elvis must be reaching any time now. I thought as I looked at the time in my phone.

I entered his study and went to his table but there was no file on it.

Where is the file?

I searched for it here and there but I couldn't find it.

I walked back into his cabin.

"Sir, there's no file on your table. I searched for it around but I couldn't find it." I said.

"In that case, Ms. Milburn, I will have to trouble you for researching about the last year's sales and marketing strategies of Wilson's." he said casually as if doing research on a company and preparing a new file was a piece of pie.

I looked at the time. It was already late.

"Sir, it's already late. I needed to go somewhere..." I was cut off in the middle.

"That not very professional of you, Ms. Milburn." he said. I could sense a hint of taunt and sarcasm in his statement and the way he said it.

I took a deep breathe and exhaled to calm myself.

Calm down, Amber!

"Sure, sir." I said, as I gave him a fake smile.

I excused myself to make a call to Elvis.

I explained him everything and asked him to postpone our dinner plan to some other day as I would be working late.

"Wow! Seems like your loverboy doesn't want his woman to go out with someone else." he teased.

"Shut up, Elvis." I said, as I rolled my eyes. He laughed.

"Fine. We can go and have dinner tomorrow. You go and give him company." he said, teasingly.

"Shut up! bye." I said rolling my eyes. I could hear him laughing. I hung the call and walked into the cabin to start preparing the file.

I sat on the couch. Opened the company laptop and started working.

I hate you, Chris.

Third Person's P.O.V.:

Chris looked at Amber who was  busy searching  for the file in the cabinets. She looked so sexy and enticing while she was working with so much of concentration. The loose strands falling on her face was enhancing her beauty. She looked extremely beautiful with her hair tied up in a bun. How much he wanted to walk to her, hold her waist and explore her.

When she turned around to tell him that she couldn't find the file, he was caught staring at her. he came back to reality and asked her to go to his study and find the file.

When she returned empty handed, he wasn't shocked. How can she find the file in the cabinets or his study which was right in front of him on the table.  But she doesn't need to know that.

He had to do this.

How could he probably let her go out with another man?
