ANNABELLE'S POV**

I woke up to the sound of heart monitors and other machines beeping. The sterile stench of hospital flooded my nostrils and the room was so cold that I felt my body physically shaking. I slowly opened my eyes and the brightness from the lights caused me to squint. I looked around the room and saw Vincent sitting in a chair right beside my bed with his head resting on the back of the chair.

"Vincent?" I croaked out, realizing how thirsty I was when I spoke. His eyes snapped open and he sprang forward.

"Oh Anna you're awake." He said sounding relieved while he smiled ear to ear as he took my hand in his squeezing it tightly.

"How long have I been asleep?" I asked confused. He poured me a glass of water and gently placed it in my hands. I gulped it down greedily before I gave him the glass back.

"Three days." He said as he sat the cup back down on the bedside table.

"Three days?!" I about shouted in shock that I was sleeping that long without waking up to remember anything.

"Well you were shot Annabelle, and you lost a lot of blood. They kept you sedated and you had to go through two surgeries and several blood transfusions." Vincent informed me and that's when I realized how tired he looked. He had bags under his usually vibrant green eyes that were now a duller shade. He had at least a week worth of stubble on his chiseled jaw from not shaving.

"You look like shit Vincent." His mouth dropped open in a playful disbelief way.

"Wow you're ever so kind to a man who just saved your life." He playfully teased and I couldn't help but smile gratefully at him.

"I'm just teasing you, but really I can't thank you enough for saving me and Emily." Tears brimmed my eyes.

"Don't thank me Annabelle. I'm sorry I couldn't  get there faster. I'm going to kill that fucker." Vincent threatened with the veins on the side of his neck pulsing with anger.

"Calm down." I whispered soothing words attempting to calm him down but I wasn't sure how much it worked. A knock at the door caused us both to turn our attention towards the doctor who came in to check on me.

"Oh good you're awake, your vitals are in normal limits, the scans that we ran show no broken bones. The bullet missed any major arteries however we found something that you should know about." The doctor looked relieved when he noticed I was awake and then his expression turned to nervous within seconds.

"What's wrong?" My voice came out just above a whisper. My body was starting to shake slightly from fear.

"Sir could you please give us a minute alone with Miss Romano." The doctor kindly asked Vincent to leave but I quickly grabbed his hand and squeezed it tight.

"No he can stay." I yelled to quickly, afraid to be without him for even a second.

"Very well, Annabelle when you were brought in you had to be rushed to surgery right away. Once we got you into surgery we found out you were pregnant. We're you aware that you were pregnant or were you have any symptoms, vomiting, dizziness, fatigue?" The doctor spoke and suddenly I felt like my head was going to spin all the way around.

"No I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary." I answered calmly I looked over at Vincent and his face was at least four shades paler than before.

"When you were shot the bullet tore through the placenta, the sac that the baby is in." Absentmindedly I put both of my hands on my stomach as my eyes filled up with tears and a sob escaped my mouth.

"Did the baby-" I started to ask a question that I was terrified to know the answer of. My heart was beating rapidly in my rib cage.

"We were able to make a patch to stop anymore of the fluid from leaking out and from anything getting inside and so far the patch is holding exceptionally well. I'm putting you on bed rest until further notice." The doctor told me seriously and I nodded my head in understanding.

"Thank you." I whispered unable to use my full voice. I was in shock and yet calm all at the same time.

"It's not a problem, get some rest we are discharging you this afternoon." He smiled as he scribbled down some notes on my chart and then left the room. I looked over at Vincent and his face was pale white with an expression I couldn't mask anger? Sadness? Regret? The look on his face made me uneasy.

"Vincent?" I asked quietly and he stared blankly into space completely ignoring me.

We spent the next few hours in complete silence. Vincent didn't even move a muscle the entire time. His silence caused me to start panicking mainly because I had no idea what was going through his head.

"Annabelle here's your discharge forms if you would please sign them and then give them to the receptionist when you check out." A nice nurse smiled as she handed me the paperwork and left me alone to fill it out. I quickly read through each form and signed my name at the bottom of each one. I sat up and quietly winced in pain from where I was shot. I stood up and started searching the room for my clothes while Vincent remained in his seat frozen I was starting to get annoyed with him and his silence.

"Where are my clothes that I had on when you brought me here?" I asked rudely snapping him out of him out of his trance.

"They had to cut them off of you so I'm assuming they threw them away. I had the girls bring you clothes from the house. There in the bathroom." Vincent gestured his hand towards the bathroom and I stomped my way towards the bathroom. The whole time I was changing I was huffing under my breath about how I couldn't believe he was ignoring me and acting so childish about the whole situation.

Once I was dressed I grabbed the forms and started to make my way out of my hospital room and finally Vincent got up and followed me. I handed the forms to the receptionist and walked outside of the hospital and followed him to the car. Like inside the hospital room the car ride was completely silent and I felt my patience growing thinner and thinner. We pulled up to the house and the tension between the two of us was higher than before.

"Vincent will you please talk to me?" I asked in a shaky voice.

"No, I have nothing to say to you." He snapped in angry tone.

"You're mad at me?" I asked in disbelief.

"Of course I'm mad at you! How could you be so careless?" His voice rose with each word he spoke.

"Like I got myself in this predicament by myself! You should have worn a condom, you knew I was a virgin I wasn't necessarily experienced but you however are, you should have known better. Do you see me blaming you? No because we are both adults, we are both at fault here." I snapped as I got out of his stupid Audi and slammed the door making the glass rattle as it shut. He started walking towards the house and I followed him hot on his heels.

"What do you expect from me? You think that we are just going to get married and raise this baby like a big happy family?" He snapped as he yanked open the front door and he stormed to his office.

"Did I say that? No! But you're going to be a father Vincent whether you like it or not. Look at the hell I've went through this past week, hell even the past three months! Our baby lived through all of that, apparently it's meant to be. Either you're in or you're out." Tears pooled my eyes and Vincent sighed and ran his fingers through his hair in frustration.

"I'm not made to be a father. I can't do this Annabelle." He practically ran out of his office and out of the house. I heard his car roar to life and the screeching of the tires as he sped off. I felt my heart break inside of my chest thinking of all the worst case scenarios. I didn't think he would react to me being pregnant this way, I knew he was scared but so was I.

Several thoughts ran through my mind like how is this going to work? Am I going to raise this baby on my own? Is he going to make me leave? Will he ever come around? A deep sob brought me out of my thoughts, I didn't even know I was crying until tears landed on my hand. I quickly left his office and bolted down the hallway and into my room slamming my door shut behind me. Thankfully the house was empty so I could cry without people hearing me completely fall apart. I cried myself to sleep with thoughts of having to raise this baby on my own and I felt my heart shatter a little more.
