Chapter Four

Parker's POV

I was in the club that evening wanting to get everything off my mind. I'd had my fifth beer that evening. I couldn't help it. I had to get Eleanor off my mind. How dare she slap me in the face and refuse my offer!  She was giving up a perfect opportunity to change her kids' lives and herself. Her loss, I thought angrily and asked the bartender for another.

The club was packed full of young adults and teenagers under the age of eighteen. I was sitting on the stool with Caleb right beside me. I already told him the story of what happened this morning, and he let out a sigh of relief, like the good boy he always was.

"Mate, maybe you should lay off of those for a while," he told me as the bartender handed me my sixth beer.

"Are you kidding?" I slurred slightly. "Anything to not think about that minger!" I insulted Eleanor.

"Hey Parker," a tall brunette sauntered up to my side boldly running her fingers along my muscled arm. I turned to see who it was. Heidi's sparkling gray eyes met mine. She was wearing a sheer, skimpy dress that barely covered anything. "Long time, no see." She sat on the stool beside mine. "Coke and vodka, please!" She told the bartender.

"Put it on my tab," I told him and gave my full attention on Heidi. I saw Caleb chuckling to himself slightly and leaving to the other side of the club. "How are you, Heidi?" I drew her name out.

"Thirsty," she looked me in the eye and licked her lips with her tongue. Why did I get the feeling she wasn't talking about thirst for drinks?

"Care to help me forget today?" I snaked my arm around her waist bringing her closer to me. My hand landed on her bottom, and I lightly squeezed getting a moan out of her.

"I'll do anything," she told me. Ah, there was the desperate Heidi I knew. "I'll drive. I haven't had anything to drink."

I nodded and quickly left cash on the table and followed her out the doors and into her Italian sportscar. I slid in the passenger seat, and I tapped my foot impatiently wanting to get this done with. Finally, what almost felt like hours, we were in my bachelor pad. How she knew where I lived, I had no clue. It didn't matter at that moment since I was highly intoxicated. We were finally in a secluded place.

I crushed her to the wall just after we slammed my door shut and brought my lips down onto hers. I hadn't tasted her in a long time. I forcefully opened her lips, slipping my tongue inside. Our tongues fought for dominance, and I instantly won as always. I carried her into my arms dropping her onto my bed. I scrambled to get my shirt off, and when I did, I threw it against the wall. I leaned over Heidi on the bed connecting our lips once again.

Her hands instantly went to my bare skin, exploring my muscles. Heidi expertly brought her hands down dangerously close to the muscles forming a V down my stomach. She hurried to unbuckle my belt and when she did, I took her dress off of her. She grinned up at me and brought my head down to her, not getting enough of me.

I was grabbing protection from my bedside drawer, when my phone blared out from my jeans' pocket. "Bloody hell," I whispered angry that we were being disturbed.

"Let it ring," Heidi said out of breath. "Hurry!"

I did let it ring but it rang once again. "I'll be quick." I grabbed my phone and angrily answered it after looking at the caller ID. "Ma cheríe, what is it?"

"Parker? Finally you answered!" I was astounded at hearing Eleanor's panicked voice.

"What do you want?" I harshly asked and slurred.

"Are you drunk?" She paused before continuing, "Never mind. I-I accept your deal," she said uncomfortably. "Can we meet tomorrow to talk about it?"

I grinned, happy that she gave in. "I'll text you the place and time."

"Listen, Parker, I hope you know I'm doing this for my kids and-"

"Yeah, yeah," I interrupted catching the annoyed glance on Heidi's face. She was leaning against the pillows her mood plummeting. I had to hurry if we were going to finish this. "We'll talk about that tomorrow."

I hung up with saying goodbye and crawled back between Heidi's legs. Well, I guessed she was going to be my last shag before I became a married man.

I woke up the next morning groggy and exhausted. Heidi tired me out until the wee hours of the morning. I lifted my head to see I was alone in the bed. Heidi probably already left, since I didn't see any signs of her ever being back here besides the messed up bed. I looked at the clock and it read thirty minutes past ten. I dropped my head back on the pillows and got my phone out.

I sent a text to Eleanor, my mood already being in high spirits from remembering she accepted my deal. In the text, I told her to meet me at the Starbucks she usually works out at three. I needed enough time to gather the appropriate things for a marriage proposal. Hey, if I was only going to do this once, I might as well do it right.

A warm shower greeted me as I got out of bed and dressed in nicely pressed jeans matched with a white button down shirt. I grabbed a bag of crisps on the way out and into my car on the way to downtown. There were many shops down there and found the exact place I wanted to be.

I locked my car behind me and was greeted by all the salespeople at the famous jewelry store I walked into.

"Good afternoon, Mr. Jenkins," a middle-aged man greeted me politely knowing who I was. "Would you like anything to drink?" I smirked. They really want a purchase from me today.

"I'm here to shop for a ring," I told him.

"What kind of ring are you looking for, sir?"

"A wedding ring," I whispered so the others won't hear.

A moment of surprise crossed over the salesperson's face but was quickly masked and led me to a display case. "Right this way." He said professionally.

I gazed over the many rings on display. They cost more than Eleanor would ever make at Starbucks even if she saved up all her salaries for twenty years. "Let me see your best one."

He took out a ring on a plush pillow. The first moment I laid my eyes on it, I knew that was it. The diamond was cut into a diamond shape. It was settled on an exquisite band that had two smaller bands twisting across each other. This would look amazing on Eleanor's dainty finger.

"Mr. Jenkins, this is an eighteen carat diamond. It is an Asscher cut diamond. The famous Oscar-winning Reese Witherspoon has the exact same one, although of course with less carat. This is approximately around four hundred thousand pounds. Worth the money if I say so myself."

I nodded. "I'll take it." I took my wallet out and handed him my credit card that was connected to my dad's bank account. He could afford to lose a few pounds. He probably won't even notice.

A few minutes later, I headed out the store with the ring safely in its box. I looked at the ring one last time and had a smile on my face before driving off to a flower shop. I bought an elegant bouquet of red roses and drove straight to Starbucks.

As I was driving up to the place, I found my bride-to-be seated at a patio outside with a drink in her hands. She was tapping her fingers against the cup like she always does when she's nervous. I parked, grabbed the roses, and slipped the valuable box into my pocket jeans.

I suavely walked myself towards her, and she alertly brought her head up with a glower.

"That's not a nice way to greet your would be husband, is it not?" I remarked at her menacing glare. "Roses for you, ma cheríe," I handed her the bouqet, but it wasn't taken from me. "I'll settle this besides you then."

"Sit down," she ordered. "Listen, Parker. Like I tried telling you on the phone yesterday. I'm doing this for my kids' benefits. We're about to be rid of a roof over our heads in a short time, and I can't let that happen to them."

I sat across her and leaned back in my chair relaxingly. "Hold up. Let me tell you my deal first, since after all this is my deal." She slowly nodded her head, afraid of the answer. "I'm only marrying you for the company's sake. We will act like a husband and wife who are deeply in love in front of the public. Although when we're alone, we can act however we want to." She gave me a blank look. "You will live with me. We will find an estate together for us and of course your boys to live on. Speaking of that...

"I will not become the kids' father. I refuse to be acknowledged as their father," her face stiffened once I said that. "I will provide a home and food for them, all of their needs. Anything they want, I'll give but what I cannot give them is a father figure in their lives."

"That's crap," she replied fury radiating off of her. "You can't control what the kids will acknowledge you as! They're toddlers! If they grow up around you and as my husband," she spat the last word out disgustingly, "they're going to assume you're their dad."

I opened my mouth about to speak but was interrupted. "But don't worry. I have no intentions of you being their father. I will tell them the truth about Riley once they're old enough to fully understand. He's a much better person than you'll ever be and that's saying a lot."

I laughed it off not really caring if I was compared to her ex boyfriend. "You will also do as I say, whether you like it or not. Understood?" She nodded confidently. "Also, I will never fall for someone like you, and I forbid you to not fall in love with me. We're only doing this for the public. Is that clear?"

"I would never fall in love with someone like you," Eleanor retaliated.

"Now to finish this off..." I got the ring out of my pocket and kneeled down on one knee looking up at her suddenly blushing face. "Sorry it won't be romantic, but I'll make sure our honeymoon makes up for it." I winked.

"Do we have to do this," she hissed. "I can't wear something as expensive like that. I'll lose it."

I ignored her and grabbed her left hand, slipping the ring on her ring finger. I stood up and placed a chaste kiss on her cheek for show and soon claps erupted around us. I looked around and saw people taking pictures. Those would be in the magazines in no time. I wrapped my arm around Eleanor's shoulder for show and smiled at the people who were congratulating us.

"Take me home, Parker," she whispered, a fake smile on her face. "I have to tell my boys the wonderful news."

"Oh no sweetheart. We have to get married first," I gave her an evil smile and took my seat across her again.

She looked at me complete shock etched on her face, and I just nodded and grinned at her. Oh yeah, we were going to get married in civil court right after this. I didn't want to give her any time to back out of this deal.

"Parker, don't you think this is going way too fast?" Eleanor worried. "My best friend doesn't even know! What would I tell her once I get home?"

"That you've been seeing me secretly for the past couple months and fell in love," I shrugged. "What you say to her is no concern of mine. We're getting married tonight and that's final."

"I'm not dressed for the special event," she bluffed.

"What you're wearing is fine," I eyed her jeans and pink blouse. "Come on. We still have to sign the marriage certificate and papers."

I led her to my car and soon we were on our way to one of the biggest events of our lives.

Four hours later at seven forty-seven pm, I was officially married to Eleanor Jenkins. I was a married man. I led Eleanor to my car afterwards, and I could tell she wasn't speaking to me.

"So, my lovely wife," I joked which in turn got a glare from her. "Where to now?"

"I have to tell Summer and my boys the fabulous news!" She sarcastically said. "What's going to happen now?"

"Well, tomorrow we're going to search for the estate we'll live on," I explained the car engine still turned off. "As for now, you and your kids have to stay in my bachelor pad."

She gave me a look. "Are you sure you really want us to stay there?"

"Yeah, probably not," I sheepishly said. "Alright, I'll rent out a hotel room for you guys. Any preferences?"

She shook her head. "Just take me back to the apartment I'm staying in and let me break the news to my friend."

Eleanor gave me the directions to where her friend's apartment was. It was on the worst part of the city, well it was for someone like me who was used to the high-end places. My car looked entirely out of place compared to the general cars around here. The apartment building looked okay, and I supposed this was as best of a place she would ever get before meeting me.

"Just park right there," she pointed to an empty space between two Toyotas. "Come on. Let's get this over with." My wife sighed and led me inside up the stairs to a doorway that led into the apartment.

"Eleanor, hey! You were taking so long, therefore we already fed Peyton and Luke," I spotted a short lady with pixie cut black hair lounging on the couch. "How was job hunting?" Then as if spotting me, she abruptly stood up her eyes wide open. "Parker Jenkins? I-I mean Mr. Jenkins?"

I smiled and stood beside an uneasy Eleanor. "Good evening, Summer, I believe?"

She nodded and had a huge smile on her face for Eleanor. "What's going on?"

"Uh, Summer," Eleanor left my side to go over to step closer to her friend. "We have something to tell you." She nodded puzzled. "Parker and I- ah well. We're married."

Her friend didn't give any signs of reaction until two minutes of silence later. "Ahhh! Oh my heavenly Father! Why didn't you tell me you were ever engaged?"

"I proposed to her today," I grinned.

"What is going on here?" A new face appeared, presumably Summer's husband. "Summer? Eleanor?" Then turning to face me. "Sir Jenkins?"

"Why does everyone act like he's royalty?" Eleanor threw her arms in the air infuriated. "Finn, I'm married. I won't be needing your help anymore."

"What? Congratulations, Eleanor!" The man crushed her into his arms, and I stared at Summer who seemed to be scrutinizing something. "Is Mr. Jenkins the lucky man?" She nodded meekly.

"Take care of her, man," Finn outstretched his hand to me, and I shook it defiantly.

"Eleanor, can I talk to you for a minute?" Summer asked. She nodded and they went off to a room in one of the hallways.

"So, I didn't know Eleanor was seeing you," Finn started a conversation with me.

"About that..."
